As you're well aware @Boney, I'm reading the End Times. I also want you to know that when I read this section in End Times Nagash:
'Perhaps you should join me,' Kemmler suggested. 'The power of Chaos is rising, and surely even you tire of millennia of thankless servitude.'

'Thank you, but no,' Arkhan stated. 'This desiccated relic chose his allegiance long ago, and will not renege now.
The first thing that popped into my mind was this part of your story:
"I'd appreciate your insight." You consider him for a long moment. "Did you choose to come on this Expedition?"

He raises an eyebrow at the sudden change of subject, then shakes his head. "My decision was not whether or not to venture into the Chaos Wastes, or whether or not to assist the Dwarves. My choice was whether to serve my Magister Patriarch and former Master, or not. And I made that decision quite some time ago."
The situation is certainly different, and Arkhan seems far more self assured of his subservience to Nagash than Horstmann was, but it does make me think that if Horstmann was serving Alric for hundreds of years if he would have turned out like Arkhan. Or maybe he would have just snapped and made his own way. I doubt everyone is like Arkhan.

But what was the background music for it?
This is the song that never ends
It just goes 'round and 'round, my friends
Some people started singing it
Not knowing what it was
And we continue singing it forever just because

The vote has been set at 50/38 for a while now. I've noticed posting the tally can occasionally tip people over to vote if they haven't and are willing to do so, so I'm doing it.

I should note that while the vote shows 49 for Longshanks, @consequences voted for Longshanks but put "The" beforehand, resulting in it being at the bottom instead of with the other votes.

So had a random thought, if Mathilde was a Total War: Warhammer unit how would her animations be styled? Like I'd imagine that to sell the assassin stuff there would be bits like her doing a backflip, throwing shadow knives then teleporting to slash an enemy. Would also include bits of her shadow lashing out in a fun way in conjunction with her sword.

Her robe would be an absolute nightmare to animate when doing acrobatic moves. Sniktch gets that stuff but he doesn't actually have dangling pieces, and they can probably take liberties with the movement because he's not human. If we were to take Mathilde's training and sword style, I think it's important to remember who taught her/what her style originates from. Markus taught her how to use a mundane greatsword from the perspective of a mundane, if exceptionally skilled human. She then honed her skills with the Order of the Guardians defensive, grounded style. It's only lately that she's been branching out because of the high magic stuff that she's getting involved in, but most likely she'd have form perfect attacks. Quick, efficient, brutal, lacks in style.

If Mathilde finished her Branalhune fighting style, maybe that'd change. For now she has to settle with fighting like a regular person.
