one more roll needed, by someone who hasn't so far.

Man Denva is screwed. Remember those worries about Chaos getting our tech?
I am reminded that part of the reason for the original "one turn a system" and "only do 3 systems" schedule was that, we intended to compensate for Denva's nascent military by only being gone a short period.

I probably should have argued that point a lot more, but I didn't think very deeply about it once we were underway either, beyond thinking of it as a perk to going back since I started advocating for it after we got the maps in Ascalon. eep.

Ok, people are over panicking. I expect a bad Druchi raid to have happened in the interim.

Realistically we did everything we could. Vita was going stir mad, unless you think going back sooner would have lead to them rolling no visitor dice it's pretty much on them, they didn't arm and then they got hostiles. I just hope it's not a Chaos polity since they'd steal the tech. That would be a nightmare.

Results are in. And a bit confusing.
1st: Ork Engagement - 78, good success!
2nd: Necron Database Information - 67 Good success, barely.
3rd: Stankberg Learning & Cogitare outpost establishment, 28+17 = 45. Success (Victan)
4th: Human Virtual OMC simulations, 69+30 = 99 (Anexa). Critical success.
5th: Human Design Interfaces, 56+20=76. Good success.
6th: Remote Organic-Machine control, 76+20 = 96. Critical success.
7th: Cia active improvement first roll - 5. Perils roll.
8th: Cia active improvement second roll - 53. Success.
9th: Denva Manufacturing Build-out - 90. Almost crit.
10th: Denva research progress - 43. Normal.
11th: Denva Social development - 65. Good.
12th: Denva Military Development - 5. Not great.
13th: Denva Visitors & defense - 5. Whoops. Going to roll a d6 to figure out who it is.
Misc 1 - 85
Misc 2 - 59

Ok. Well this is going to require a good think.
Neablis threw 1 6-faced dice. Reason: Visitor identity Total: 2
2 2

Well if anyone is stealing the military tech we left behind then we don't have to worry too much as we had yet to develop beyond plasma weapons before we left... though we did leave them machine spirit hacking though.

I think that us returning earlier would significantly modify what those dice represent, by dint of there being not as much time for visitors to even happen.

For instance:
Ok, people are over panicking. I expect a bad Druchi raid to have happened in the interim.
Xylaris. Xylaris herself could have decided to come in and do this, and Denva never got the sensor tech we developed to deal with DElf bullshit.

But, if we had gone back after getting those maps, odds are she physically couldn't have jumped to Denva to try picking them up by then, because she exited via webway gate.

This is significant because Xylaris would know going in that we had tech, that we wanted to trade, and may have even known that Denva was where the corsair first met us - meaning that she would come prepared to raid FOR tech and technologists, and because of our long absence, would have had all the time in the world to do it on her terms.

Like I said. Keeping our away time down was a core part of our defense planning for Denva, and we discarded that without doing anything to compensate for the lost protection. I don't like it anymore than you do, but with rolls like these there's going to be consequences for us making that choice.

Military nothing, if they chaos stole the manufacturing tech, that is a quantum leap in their ability to build ships and armies. Near-Infinite OMC armies built and maned by a limited number of Champions.
