Wait didn't Poptart Prodigy say that there was no way in hell that the Russians would let the Vicks get another nuke? If so our options are that A. it is some kind of non nuclear missile though for the life of me I can't figure out what kind of missile on its own do enough damage that is not nuclear. Option B. if I am wrong and that is a vick nuke it is going to hurt, a lot. Option C. the nightmare scenario is that another unknown faction hates us enough that they got the nuke and are using it against us.
The thing is, it's something our plan 'overlooked.' Which means that, conceivably, a different plan could have prevented it. But if it's a 'small thing', then that kind of reduces our ability to respond, since we generally don't operate on the smaller scale of things.

I suppose another alternative is a commando raid on Detroit while the Militia is away. But I doubt the Militia committing to Raisin means literally every single person who can fight is out of the city. Plus, how would the Victorians get said Commandos to Detroit?

I'm not putting numbers to this. It's absurd.
But how often will you have the chance to match double digits against negative digits?

More serious note 1: It is almost a shame the enemy commander will be shot if he returns home. An opponent stupid enough to think this sort of so-called plan is worth trying is an incredible asset.

More serious note 2: 'glorious island last stand'? Are we supposed to care that they have troops squatting on an island? That seems like a 'naval blockade' shaped problem to me.

Would have thought that tanks would actually be really good for defense. If nothing else, they provide heavy force concentration, or a somewhat rapid response to enemy beachheads. But hey, that's why I wouldn't graduate from Victorian military academies I guess.

All right, and now we roll for the opening stages of the counter-attack on the Raisin Line. For this one, the Victorians' numbers advantage is severely blunted due to the fact that you're doing low-commitment probing assaults, for the most part. Given their complete refusal to use forward observers, their mortars are going to be almost worthless for responding to these attacks. Furthermore, your lines are going to be out of range of their mortars, while your artillery guns are going to be at a nice and comfortable distance.

Finally, your ships are now free to go and shoot at the Vicks all they like. Result: despite the Vicks still having an assload of mortars, artillery advantage is back, bitches, and better than ever! :D

The Victorians' objective is, "Make the end as long and glorious as possible."

Victorian Modifiers

Troop quality: 2 points.
River crossing: 2 points.
Semi-urban area: 1 point.
Supply status: -1 point (again, they foraged from the dead).
Demoralized: -1 point.

Does anybody know how small of an object marine radar can pick up?
I did a bit of digging, and if the radar in question is the same as current day radar systems then the wavelength of the radar emissions is 7.5 cm minimum. Systems can pick up stuff smaller than that, but either not reliably or only by using really fancy tricks and throwing processing power at the results.

Unless I'm completely wrong about radar because my quick wiki diving was not 100% accurate. Who knows?

Best way I can see to sidestep the whole "Victorians might massacre their own POWs" issue. Dragging loyal ass soldiers out of their homes to execute them would probably go down badly on the home front.
 
Yes. Exactly why I voted for Siege. A one point advantage still means we're paying a big price in lives for this plan. As opposed to just buying our victory with time.
Plus, they traded their lives well, and will soon form the core of officers for our army going forward. Which should end up saving even more lives.

Modern radar for recreational boats can apparently pick up bird flocks, as well as other fishing boats.
And have a range as far as 72 nautical miles.
And you can apparently buy something like that off the shelf for a couple thousand dollars. In this case, presumably imported from Brazil or Argentina.
