Or perhaps New York or another third party did something?
We still haven't seen the Toledo Militia, have we?

Admittefly, they are much smaller than Detroit, who could only muster a division of militia. And presumably even less inclined to go to war on the Vic side after listening to international radio broadcasts of Vic shellacking. Especially given that I doubt the Vics were nice houseguests.

Still, they exist.
If the Vics empty out Toledo, they are a factor whose allegiance is undetermined.
Less any day and more in a year and a half (well, I guess just a year given how long the Erie Campaign has gone on).
I thought we spoke to Sandra in 2073?

There's also the possibility of the Buffalo Militia. They were heading out with a relief convoy to help the Leamington force when we destroyed said force. Now, it was said they were 0/5 Militia with a logistics skill that makes the Victorian Army look well-organized, through a few hundred miles of territory that's gotten word of how the Victorians are getting their rears kicked in and might be looking for revenge (and indeed, is already shooting the Leamington force remnants.)

But they did set out. And GM said that getting word to them to pull back might be delayed due to the general staff fearing being purged. It's possible they've either kept their mouths shut, or it was decided that the Militia has the supplies, and they already bankrupted Buffalo to get them, so they might as well go all in.

Hmm. I thought that we spoke to them at the start of 2074, but if it was some point in 2073, we are looking at the rebellion at some point in 2076 so depending on what the date currently is, it might be possible for the NCR to start their revolt soon.

In the east, you have left a brigade of the 2nd Division just in case the unthinkable happens.
Every single soldier you can muster aside from the battalion maintaining a just in case watch on the fringes of Windsor District.
Also, shouldn't the second mention be of a brigade, rather than a battalion? It's a rather big difference (particularly if the threat is the Buffalo Militia.)

Typo.
Oh? Did the Victorians here throw their Fourth-Generation War book into a dumpster and actually put their tanks to the task of making breakthroughs, rather than leaving that job to the infantry?
It was pretty coincidental, mostly by virtue of the tanks pressing forward to earn a glorious death in what the Vicks saw as relieving themselves of assets worthless for their current situation...but yeah.

6 vs. 8. Well, they made a good attempt at it, but it turns out that T-34s and mauled infantrymen, no matter how rabid, don't do so hot while trying to forge across a wide and shallow river. Over two days of fighting, the Victorian get fucked.

And now, the Lake front. On the Victorian side, cargo ships. On yours, the usual. You're being cautious, suspecting a trap. In this case, "cautious," means, "send the entire marine force on their speedboats to dogpile one of the smaller ships and secure it before they have any hope of scuttling. Use that as a barometer."

And...well, okay, I'm not going to bother with rolling for this. The Victorians' plan was to gut punch you, but unlike the Niagara, these Victorians didn't have a week. And furthermore...Victorians don't actually bote that well. They don't have a good conception of what it takes to rig good scuttling charges. The plan was for your marines to board, get thoroughly stuck in, and then blow the scuttling charges and sink your entire marine corps, but...they just can't possibly fucking do it. They cannot do it! They weren't willing to commit actual troops that wouldn't get to participate in the glorious island last stand, so the people on these ships are civilians! Half of them are just surrendering without a fight because they don't want to die! The other half are hemming and hawing about actually scuttling a ship on which they're stuck. They were trying not to tip you as to the plan, so they couldn't load enough explosives to impact how they were riding in the water. And finally, they're civilians attempting to prevent what is essentially an even-more-militarized company of amphibious SWAT teams from doing counter-terrorist work.

I'm not putting numbers to this. It's absurd.

You have captured all of the cargo ships.

Does anybody know how small of an object marine radar can pick up?

LONG LIVE THE GLORIOUS WORKERS' AND SAILORS' GREAT LAKES NAVY!

OH GOD

IT'S TOLEDO'S BOMB

That is hopelessly speculative alarmism! Also, there's little we can do about it than trust Romano.

I imagine distance of the object being detected matters a lot for RADAR findability, too. And bird-sized objects might be difficult to distinguish from, uh, birds.

so i'm imagining a bunch of people getting draped in blankets and getting hot drinks pressed into their hands by very intense heavly armed marines, as our troops rapidly pivot from "GO TIME!" to dealing with shell shocked civies. I don't know if the blankets help but its always what they do in TV, and in universe that probably has a larger impact on our SOP than it should.

We are getting nuked!?

I mean, if you think about it this would be the time when Victoria would be willing to commit a nuke. Yes, folk will hate the Victorians for nuking Detroit but everyone already hates Victoria. At least if Victoria used a nuke people would still fear her, and from the Victorian perspective being made to look weak could very well be worse than anything else.

Depends on the radar.

That said, the us has radar systems intended to pick up periscopes, so it obviously goes rather small.

Advances in periscope-hunting anti-submarine radar promises to keep the enemy's head down

THE MIL & AERO COMMENTARY – U.S. Navy surface warfare experts have invested a substantial amount of time and money over the past decade developing sensitive surface-search radar...

So, my initial thought about "what we forgot" was that the navy is busy capturing the ships, and cannot bombard, but that can't take all that long. That said, if there are other botes that the Victorians have active, the navy is out of position...

And the civilian sailors are probably just as shocked by being treated with care, and probably asking if we need to report them dead, or missing, or something to keep their families safe...

Would have thought that tanks would actually be really good for defense. If nothing else, they provide heavy force concentration, or a somewhat rapid response to enemy beachheads. But hey, that's why I wouldn't graduate from Victorian military academies I guess.

Uhh guys?

Im scared.
It's been said on discord that the 'small thing' would get detected by maritime radar, so said 'small thing' will have to go in by other means. Granted, if the initial Victorian plan was to sneak it in by boat, I suppose we can hold out hope that the Victorians with their contempt for high-tech, decide to go by boat anyway and get caught.

After all, the Victorian F-16s committed to their shitty box formations even though they were utterly counter-productive.

Wait didn't Poptart Prodigy say that there was no way in hell that the Russians would let the Vicks get another nuke? If so our options are that A. it is some kind of non nuclear missile though for the life of me I can't figure out what kind of missile on its own do enough damage that is not nuclear. Option B. if I am wrong and that is a vick nuke it is going to hurt, a lot. Option C. the nightmare scenario is that another unknown faction hates us enough that they got the nuke and are using it against us, in which case we have to deal with another faction that hate our guts along with the Vicks and the Russians.

I'm pretty sure it isn't a nuke because if it was, it would mean that the Victorians are using a nuke on our navy of all things.
