Damn it. This most likely means that we'll either hold the line with bloody losses or fall back to the next defense line. Though thankfully next clash should see the Victorians' numbers worsen far more since the supply modifier will be even worse.

The dice sure loves to throw the Victorians a bone.

This is assuming that the Vicks don't decide to throw their airforce in as support to any attack in the future.

Your objective is, "Hold the defense line if able, retreat in good order after inflicting losses if not."

"Smash the Cultural Marxists from the field."

Hm. so looking at these objectives, the vics achieve theirs if we retreat in good order, and so do we, so I'm guessing that's what's going to happen. they push us back without inflicting decisive losses. since them achieving their objective of "drive them from the field" while we achieve our objective of "retreat in good order after inflicting losses" would fit a tie.

Their air force is also under constraint. No supply line means that sooner or later they will have to pull their fighters out of their nearby base and stage out of further away. Which will mean their effectiveness will be much reduced due to distance and having to fly over all the way. Given their operational tempo they are going to run out of parts, munitions, and fuel sooner or later in the theatre.

Dice Gods, can we have good rolls?
"For Chicago?"
Yeeeessss
Actually flips it to the lowest value LIKE A BOSS
Stalemate time.

what was the rule on ties again? Was it the win defaults the the attacker but at cost or was it that the win defaults to the defender but at cost?

To whoever has the initiative.
A tie results in advantage going to the side with initiative, although it will not be without drawbacks.
Granted, I'm not actually sure who that is. I'd presume it's the Victorians as the "attacker", but the definition of Initiative is the ability to assess things independently or act on events before others do. And with no mobile assets and Victoria dealing with all the mud & supply issues, that might be Chicago?

It's probably best to presume it's the Victorians though.

If it only gets worse for them and we are at a tie then I think we are at a pretty good place.

"Also, anyone who burned dice are Cultural Marxists trying to destroy Victoria, God has cleared blessed our die (as he has in all things)!"

Well, that's going to be...a thing.

Meanwhile, y'all wrote in something about trying to figure shit out down south.

Victoria's objective is, "coordinate [???]."

Victorian Modifiers:

Reliable codes: 1 point.
Troop quality: 2 points.
Rain and mud: -1 point.
???: -2 points.

Total Modifier: 0 points.

Commonwealth's objective is, "find out what's going on down south."

Commonwealth Modifiers:

Prepared ground: 1 point.
Primitive SIGINT: -1 point.
Rain and mud: -1 point.

Total Modifier: -1 point.

Putting the navy out to assist in the event of the weather clearing was a good idea, but it's not happening on this time scale.

Now, this is a series of scouting missions, so if you lose, nothing immediately catastrophic happens as a result; you don't suffer crippling casualties by driving some technicals around the Victorian lines.

Yeah so we are getting pushed back again. However the next battle? The Vics will be facing a -4 supply malus *and* will have even less of a numbers advantage as our lines contract.

This is still according to plan. The next clash or the one after should prove decisive for the Lemington portion of the campaign.

Boo, stupid Victorian army

Thankfully we have good rolls. Surely we must speak more of our success, rather than sarcastically goading the enemy!

If we're going for stalemate, may I suggest pulling a few pages from older playbooks?

I recommend Matthew Ridgway, Peng Dehuai and Paul Kagame on light infantry maneuvers and artillery coordination.

(Or just read @IXJac's posts on SB and SV.)

Forget what I said earlier, we need to create anti-plot armour warfare! Man the Omakes!:V

I hate to be the person to point this out, but 1+2-1=2, not 0. Unless you forgot to include another -2, they're sitting at a +2 modifier right now.

edit: Ah, you added the -2. Awesome. And the rolls bring it to +1 vs +2, even better.

Is it their fucked vehicles? Low on supplies or some such?
I just said y'all don't get to know what it is. :p

And now, one last roll, this time a d5 from me. I don't need one from any of you. And what I am rolling for is this: does the rain let up?

5? Yup, sure does.

4? No, but it's improving.

3? No change.

2? The weather is worsening.

1? Hehehehehehehehe...

Damn. Rains letting up, meaning they will have their fighters out soon. Reducing our modifier advantage for the next clash.

Edit: Or they will have the fighters out the clash after the next one.

MEANWHILE IN THE NEGAVERSE:
"Well, that resupply roll sucked, but the commies are still retreating, so I guess we're still winning?"
"Of course we're still winning! We're Victoria, we always win. And if we're lucky, those scouts finding our southern force will goad them into attacking, so we can win even faster!"
