It does bring up an interesting question of exactly how versatile the IMO can be in terms of retaliating against the Senshi. Our new company is the obvious target for infiltration and sabotage, so we may need to start thinking about security measures for our more sensitive operations. This is further compounded by the fact that our building is also our future school, which will presumably involve a lot of strangers showing up without a way to "verify" them. Our super strength and apparent ability to teleport at a moment's notice may deter all but the briefest of "smash and grabs", but I could see a few tricks being implemented now that the Agents are forced to be creative about this:
Considering what we've seen, I expect at least one attempted 'smash and grab' before they wise up. As to security, we might want to have Jadeite be security there, after we give him full chapter and verse about the IMO and their slave trade. He was a bodyguard, after all, so he'd know the tricks of the trade, and he'd be highly motivated after hearing that. Although we should make sure to tell him to take them alive.
Jadeite: "No. NO. Absolutely not. No way, no how."
Sailor Moon: "What!?"
Jadeite: "Don't misunderstand me, I'm not in favor of slaying them out of hand. But under no circumstances am I ever taking anyone who might remotely possibly even conceivably be a secret magical girl prisoner ever again. I beat them up, they run away, and that's it."
Jadeite: "Don't misunderstand me, I'm not in favor of slaying them out of hand. But under no circumstances am I ever taking anyone who might remotely possibly even conceivably be a secret magical girl prisoner ever again."
Jadeite: "Didn't you just get done telling me they have an entire massive ongoing conspiracy dedicated to keeping anyone except themselves from finding out about their magical powers? Quite honestly, I think they're considerably more secretive about being magical girls than you are."
Now I'm wondering if she could create Magical Girl Familiars for various types, and if they'd count as separate species or the same species with a lot of sub-species.
Hmm, I have to wonder what happens if Naru uses a human body as a base for a creation. To be honest, when I heard there was a goddess named Astarte, I was wondering if she was made from Princess Serenity as an attempt to raise her from the dead, but that seems a little too disturbing for this quest.

Well, it gets a little fuzzy with the question "where do youma come from?", but Naru's conversion during the Monster Mash fight might be a hint. The interesting thing is that the Nightgaunt seemed to have its own directives (or at least its own instincts) which caused it to retreat at full speed, indicating that Naru's creations may not necessarily retain the same motivations or memories as the "creation base".
...Also, I know that he was trying to kill us, and probably would have ended up dead anyway if Sailor Moon had been taking it seriously, but Speedy Simp just getting "personality-erased" with one spell was just a bit terrifying.
Honestly, whatever getting turned into the Night-Gaunt actually did under the hood, it was probably an improvement. Like, in realistic terms, you're right that it's pretty damn scary, but honestly? He didn't seem to have much personality aside from devotion and bloodthirst.

I doubt Pandora even had access to Princess Serenity's body after Serenity died. Wasn't she, like... on the moon at the time?
But I could very easily see Pandora subconsciously creating some genius loci "gods" who in one way or another remind her of her dead friends. Which come to think of it, might explain why so many Earthly deities have aspects that echo the Senshi, especially in the Near East and Mediterranean world.

Remember way back we had a discussion on how the fall of the Silver Millenium had to be fairly recent for the Roman gods, and thus the planets, to end up with the names they did? Well knowing that the gods are real and that a survivor of the fall created them (which presumably included naming them) means we could push back the timeline on the collapse since there is now a clear (possible) causal link that doesn't rely on oral tradition of written text surviving the ages. Probably doesn't change the time range too much since Pandora's lifespan is unknown but it does mean it could be pushed back a couple thousand years if desired.
We also know that there are survivors of Silver Millennium alive at present day.
So even oral tradition is not that implausible source.
Bacchus's drunken ramblings could have had a lot of effect on mythology.
After looking over each of the group once more, Usagi nods. "And finally, there is Kibougamori, the Forest of Hope, which is one the far western side of the town. There are a lot of rumors and myths about spirits that live in the forest, but to be honest I don't know the truth of those rumors." Usagi says, explaining the last of the major landmarks. "The forest is just past the crest of the major hill that overlooks the town, which makes it a great spot to keep track of the whole town. Admittedly, the forest is closer to the residential part of town, which means that there aren't a lot of shops in the area, but it would be a good place to find people to ask about the clock shop."
"So to work backwards from what I was just saying," Usagi begins, glancing between each of the Senshi. "Naru, I was thinking of having you and I hit up the forest." She explains, getting a nod from the Magic eater. "If the rumors about the forest are correct, then it's possible there are some spirits or the like that have been hiding out, and they'd probably listen to you if they think you are a Kami, like the Gods of that party did." Naru nods at that, before glancing over towards Ami and then Makoto. "Ami, Makoto, I was thinking of having you two hit up the Studio." Makoto lets out a huff, not a frustrated sound, but more of a relaxed, thankful sigh.
"I've got an idea," Naru speaks up, glancing across the Senshi. "Usagi, why don't you hit the gardens, and Rei can come with me." She says. "She's a Miko, so the people of town might be a bit more willing to talk to her than they would a random teenager."
...That's true. Usagi glances over towards Rei, "You good with that?" She asks, and Rei nods. There is a slight hesitation in the nod, but Rei smiles, and it is a small, honest one.
"Yeah. Checking up with people is a Miko's duty after all." Rei says.
Naru Wacky = d100 = 69
[Really Naru... Fine, but this is on your head]
While Usagi and Luna are stepping out of a garden filled with shattered glass and damaged planet, and at the same time that Makoto is crashing to the ground, tangled up in the limbs of another girl, Naru and Rei finally come to the far end of the city, watching as the buildings get smaller, the hills get larger, and the forest comes up in the distance.
The two trek up the hill, and there is a quiet between them. It isn't an uncomfortable silence at all, but at the same time it isn't exactly a clean and clear one. The fact of the matter is that Naru has a question that she wants to ask Rei...
But it's a question that she isn't sure how to ask, nor is she even sure it is a question that she should be asking. Or at the very least, maybe she shouldn't be asking Rei this. It's just that Naru has been watching her best friend, and she's seen the way that Usagi acts around Rei.
She's seen the way silly things that Usagi says even more frequently around the girl than she does around others, and just as equally she's seen the way that Rei ends up blushing around Usagi.
Now, it's entirely possible that the girl is looking for something that isn't really there. And honestly, it isn't like the answer matters that much to Naru either. Sure, Naru hasn't spent nearly as much time with Rei as she has with Ami, or even Makoto, but Rei is the Senshi that lives the furthest away from the rest, so that makes sense. Even without spending that much time around the girl, Naru does trust Rei. Rei is a Senshi, and that means that Naru respects her, a lot. It's hard and it's scary to dive into fights the way that the Senshi do.
Still... Naru has a question.
Just... Just what are Rei's intentions for Naru's best friend?
"...Something on your mind?" Rei asks, glancing over her shoulder to the other girl as they make their way up the hill. "You've been staring for a bit."
And just like that, it's not Rei who blushes, but instead Naru. "I... uhh... Well..." Naru starts to say, trying to find some possible way to explain things without sounding crazy. "It's just..." She starts again, and that doesn't sound any better.
Rei comes to a stop, looking back at the girl and raising an eyebrow. Really, that's the thing that does it though. There is just something about the fact that here she is, trying to ask Rei about how she feels about her best friend, and here the girl is, arms crossed and raising an eyebrow at Naru instead.
It's just hilarious. Naru can't help but start to giggle. "Sorry, sorry." Naru says with a laugh, shaking her head. "I just... I've seen the way that you and Usagi act around each other."
Now it should be Rei's turn to blush, but the girl just looks entirely confused. On the one hand, that does make Naru feel a little better about whether or not Rei is interested in her best friend, but it doesn't exactly help with the question of if her friend is interested in Rei.
"What?" Rei asks, and Naru gives a far more nervous chuckle.
"It's... It's nothing." Naru says, and now in addition to the quirked eyebrow there is a frown on Rei's face.
"That doesn't sound like a nothing." The other girl says, and Naru really isn't sure of what to say, so she goes for the unexpected play. The truth.
"I was just wondering if you had a crush on Usagi." Naru admits, and Rei seems completely taken aback by that statement.
"I... what?" The girl asks, and she sounds so honestly confused that it would have amused Naru, were it not for the situation at hand. "Usagi's a girl."
Oh.
Oh dear. Naru knows that Rei has had a bit of a sheltered life, what with going to Catholic schools for as she long as she's had schooling, and the rest of her life consumed by being a miko... but if Rei doesn't even know that girls can like girls.
Oh, that just makes all of this far more complex for Naru, and the worst thing is that she might have set it all in motion here and now. Or at least, she's about to. "Well, yeah." Naru agrees. Usagi is definitely a girl. "That doesn't change anything." Naru confirms.
"But... Girls like, like guys." Rei points out in a tone like she is simply stating the basest of facts. Yeah, this is about as bad as Naru could have imagined it to be.
"Yeah, and magic isn't real. The things that adults tell us aren't always right." Naru says, and Rei clearly wants to argue, but doesn't exactly have the words for it.
"..." Rei is very quiet for a moment, the girl trying to parse, and again Naru has to let the fact that she needs to do the right thing get in the way of making sure that no one potentially shady is dating her best friend.
...Not that Rei is potentially shady, but it's the principle of the thing. Naru is going to grill everyone and anyone that seems to make eyes at her best friend, because her future liege deserves only the best. Which is part of why she's only asking this of Rei, and not the rest of the Senshi.
Makoto seems to only have eyes for some guy that she never talks about who was her Sempai at an old school, and while Ami clearly is more interested in magic than romance, the girl does end up watching Makoto more than anyone else. Then there is Michiru and Haruka,,, and well...
"I mean, just look at Michiru and Haruka." Naru points out. The two older Senshi are clearly dating, even if they try and hide it from the rest of the girls... Actually, are they trying to hide it, or are they just more focused on being Senshi when they are around their Princess?
Fascinatingly, pointing out the two older Senshi all of a sudden makes Rei's eyes flick up and into the distance for a moment, before the girl's eyes go wide, her face goes redder than anything that Naru has ever seen the girl, and Rei practically scrunches together from the way that she... folds in on herself? What exactly the girl is doing Naru isn't sure.
"I... How do you know about that?" She asks, her voice squeaking. Wait...
Does Rei know about the Outer Senshi?
"I mean, have you ever seen them when they aren't around Usagi?" Naru asks, and that question makes Rei flinch back.
There is definitely something there, given that way that Rei's eyes start to burn like fire as she locks eyes onto Naru's. "You mean they are like that all the time?" She asks, and it definitely feels like this is a very important question that Rei is asking. However it is one that Naru doesn't know the answer to, given the fact that she isn't sure how they acted whatever time made Rei act like this.
"I..." Naru begins to answer. "Maybe? I'm not sure how... touchy they were getting whenever you saw them."
There is a very long moment before Rei finally speaks, and her words are so quiet that Naru almost can't hear the girl. "They didn't have any clothes on."
...
And just like that, Naru's face is just as red. Well, that answers a question that Naru had about the Queens Guard.
