So Diplomacy needs a 2, Learning a 5, and Intrigue a 9.

Using d20 DCs on a d10 system... could work I suppose? Eh....I mean, after a conversation on Discord about the proper DCs for these, I found myself being convinced of a D10 system instead of a D100, allowing for stats to actually have an appreciable effect on rolls...
but then we get this near perfect roll which would be a shame to get rid off, but given the other rolls...
Yeah.
a d10 +13 for Diplo DC 15
a d10+7 for Learning DC 12
and a d10+0 for Intrigue DC 9
For each of these instead
[ ][Luna] Spymaster
- 20% of Luna's Intrigue (2) is added to Usagi's functional Intrigue
Serenity: "Waahhhh! I Don't Want To Be An Idiot!"*stares at Serenity* This is your fault isn't it.
You being awake is affecting her more than one would expect.
I would have said no because she's being put into position this turn, not actually advising us yet, but...A bare success, a critical success, and a failure. No real complaints, these are the tutorial rolls, and I wasn't really expecting Usagi to do the best in her worst stat. I mean that's why we have Luna as our...Spymaster...wait.
...Would that be 7 (1d10) + 0 (Usagi) +2 (Luna) = 9? Or would it still be 7 (1d10) + (-2+2) (Usagi+Luna) = 7?
Yeah, not my quest.I was going with that second one. Though I will probably write it out closer to the first one being
7 (d10) -2 (Usagi) +2 (Luna) = 7
Ami's probably rolling a +30 with a crit range from 5 to 10 or something absurd like that.
*does a jig in Blood Knight!Ami* Nice.More like a [REDACTED] bonus, but you won't run into Amy for a little bit.
I am pulling a lot more from the original anime, since it gives a lot more time for relationships to build and stuff
It was an idea thrown at me by someone on Discord, and spent like my entire Dinner explaining to me why they thought it would be a better alternative to a d100 system.I have never seen a d10 system before, and never one with this big of a flat bonus ratio
Oh, you haven't seen anything yet. Half the point is so a, say, swordsmaster can have a bonus of 30 (for a random number, How Lunaryon will scale things is her choice; I'm just the guy preaching the benefits in discord) and a novice with a sword will have exactly zero chance of winning, as it should be.I have never seen a d10 system before, and never one with this big of a flat bonus ratio
*whistles innocently*It was an idea thrown at me by someone on Discord, and spent like my entire Dinner explaining to me why they thought it would be a better alternative to a d100 system.
I don't recall the entire explanation, but part of it came down to A fighter with Martial 1 vs a fighter with Martial 40 has approx an 18% chance of winning.
Which just...
A novice who has never fought in his life should not have an approx 1 in 5 chance of defeating a grand master.
To overcome a plus 40 bonus: if you roll a 1, then need a 41 or more, or a 60% chance. If you roll a 60, they need an 100, or 1% chance. .6*.6/2=18% chance to beat a +40
(in a d100 system)
so even if you're a grandmaster of combat you'll lose to a beginner 1 time in 5
it gets worse if you model newbies as having a 5 or 10 or whatever
+0=50%
+10=40.5%
+20=32%
+30=25%
+40=18%
+50=12.5%
It allows for skill to matter more. In a d100, a bonus is not much. Even if you're a martial 40 combat savant, against a literal child with no martial skill, you're still going to lose one in 5 times.I have never seen a d10 system before, and never one with this big of a flat bonus ratio
A d10 makes stats actually matter, without needing stats in the hundreds.d100 loss chance said:
IIRC, Lunaryon was toying with having 8 in a stat be the broad average, and basing DCs with that in mind. (Note: Toying with. They have not shared any final intentions, this is just from back and forth over mechanics while they ate. I have no way to promise this as fact.)While all true, you do need to take into the bonuses you would expect people to be able to have in order to succeed on average and then craft the DCs around that, which can be more difficult.
What bonuses would you expect an anime phantom thief to have and what actions would they find difficult and such.
Huh, I have never thought of that like that before. I'm only familiar with the d20 of DnD and MnM. I can definitely see some of the appeal but at the same time it feel like it can take out the elements of randomess that is the appeal of dices?
For example, for the grandmaster example you said, their combat performance would only have a 20% variation (41-50) which to me feel a bit on the predictable side.
Though now that I am typing it out, it does perhaps make tier based challenges more workable. A DC45 challenge would be an easy way to say "a grandmaster has 50% chance of pulling this off, everyone else does not even stand a chance" .
It's fascinating, I'll have to watch as learn lol

Yeah don't worry about it I'm taking the core attribute system and the trait system but am having to pretty much build everything beyond that from scratchLooks like I'm too late for voting. (Not that I can change anything.)
I'm pretty ignorant of CK3 System, is that alright?
