Hm, none of these names really jump out to me, so I'll probably pass on voting unless I see an argument which resonates.

I did have the misfortune of thinking of a name of my own, too late. Black Lotus Tapping would be a reference to the Hui's Pure Way's Three Poisons, which we're taking inspiration from for the technique, through the lens of Huisheng's heresies. This is very smart and also very funny because it's basically an impenetrable reference nobody else is gonna understand. Jia Hong would get it, Xin would get it, but most people would just go "huh?". Hilarious.

Definitely not a reference to anything else, no sir.

Speaking of names, I'm pretty sure Thief of Names' first tech, Intruding Thoughts, has still yet to be named in the actual narrative. Iirc, there was some kind of hitch or leapfrogging in that name vote, and it never made it into the actual update(s). @yrsillar might have patched that in the RR version though?

Weight of Want is not a bad name per se. It's just too... bland. Too simple and direct without the flare one would expect from a technique's name in a cultivation world.
It just doesn't resonate with me

Are you saying that we need to rename Intruding Thoughts, or that the name Intrusing Thoughts has never been mentioned within the narrative?
 
Rereading some of the other suggestions, the only other one I vibed with was Subversive Whispers, simply because it was a good reference to Intrusive Thoughts.

While I agree all the suggestions lack a bit of that flurish other art names have, I think "Black Lotus Tapping" has the similar issue that "Riches Unremembered and Unused" has, in that it's simply too esoteric in what it's referencing.
While all of these, including my suggestion, are not perfect, I think they're still good enough.

"Plucking the Pursestrings" continues with the thief references that ToN has, and you can still figure out what the art does with only a little thinking.

"Weight of Want" is more succint to what the art does, but lacks that thief-like flurish.

Perhaps this next part is cope, but if we really think the winner is boring, we could justify by saying something like "since LQ feels uncomfortable about this weapon, she purposefully gave it a boring name such that she won't forget it's origin".

Black lotus tapping is an amusing one for sure, and also reasonably thematic. Though i don't feel like editing my previous vote unless its an actual option we can vote for.

You people remember that Laughing Flight of the Wind Thief is a different art, don't you?
Thief of Names it's not its successor or even related at all beyond having Thief in the name, which is entirely coincidental.

"Riches Unremembered and Unused" is not even a name, it is a wholeass sentence from one version of a myth (again, an unrelated myth) that most people aren't even going to recognise.

Yeah, I know this art has nothing to do with Wind Thief, but when we decided to focus on inducing enemies to hoard resources I thought, "Man, wasn't there a really sick line in an easy to locate chapter about pointlessly hoarding stuff?"

And practically anything can be a name, and it's really funny that people keep complaining about the length of a four word name in a xianxia. I know we've never really tried to keep the absurdly long translation artifact names that other stories have, but this really isn't that long.
