So most of the actual complaints are about how other posters are talking about this?
Sucks for y'all that are frustrated then. You want other types of posts, and for those other types to get more engagement? Cool. It's up to you to drive that, and hectoring other posters to have different tastes is a poor way to do it.
Well, for something different I threw together another art idea that was trying to look at how we might put together a TRF+ focusing more on regen and fit us better.
The regrowth tech is kind of almost three techs in one with how broadly it can be used. But also I felt we'd want some support in there, but at the same time as Abeo has argued before we don't really want to take away from Zhengui in doing the healing ourselves, and it would be good if whatever we had created more interesting gameplay than just things like passive auras. Hence setting up a zone that provides a degree of regeneration and poison resistance, but which is also focused on buffing Zhengui. #teamwork
Downside is... I feel like it's probably a bit too far from TRF to be a clear successor. It builds on bits of TRF, primarily TRD and TRU to be sure, but also draws a lot from things like our FSS insight, Zhengui, and our recent historical stuff with BKSD. And also just functions very differently.
An Emerald Tale
The Emerald Sea. A land full of vitality. Birthplace of the Bountiful Earth, it's people sheltered under the life-giving boughs of the god tree.
A land full of life, and full of death. That has seen countless wars and conflicts through the millennia. That has seen more dynastic changes then any other province in the empire. Attacked from the skies above and the earth below.
Yet the people endure, the people thrive. From each setback they rebound and rebuild, growing ever greater. Theirs is a tale of unbroken will and hope. Of forests and fields. Of cities falling, and cities rebuilding.
Passive effects:
+1 to primary armor
As your will holds out, even the mightiest attacks need not bring you down. The strength of the land, its people, and your ideals support you, your body and qi recovering faster and resisting the poisons that would seek to sap your strength.
Techniques: 'Neath shining boughs
Zone, recovery, support
The sun shines through the canopy of Xiangmen, bringing life to the bountiful earth below. The cultivator invokes an echo of that ideal, of the rich earth and forests that support its people. Laying out a field around them, they and all their allies receive enhanced healing and qi recovery, and resistance to poison and plague. Wood and healing arts within the field have their effects greatly enhanced.
Of regrowth and rebuilding
Armor, recovery, empowerment
An ending is only the End when you give up. As the trials of the Emerald Sea show, as long as you live, as long as your will holds, as long as you have hope, you can always recover. Rebuild the cities and towns, regrow the forests and fields.
The cultivator may invoke this ideal in a variety of ways. It may, at significant expense, be used to regenerate from fatal damage, reweaving form from spirit and dreams. It may be applied to techniques to instantly renew them in the face of dispels, contesting disruptions. It may even, at last resort, be used as a finisher to renew one already used and use it a second time.

I mean, how much difference is there between creating a successor art, and creating a new art inspired by elements of a few more? I mean, given our dice luck, probably not that much.
From what I understand one is creating another art based on our understanding from the predecessor and the other is preparing a full art suite for use when we hit Cyan
Actually, I think Zheng Fu might have potential as a conduit for Ling Qi's therapy. If they can get past the inevitable rocky start, I can see Ling Qi asking questions about the Zheng's cultural practices, and learning another perspective on sexuality from someone who likely isn't ashamed to talk about it openly. It'd be cool if Zheng Fu were the type to wax philosophical while remaining fully casual, perceptive enough to know LQ is not interested in anything other than hypotheticals, and honorable enough to respect her boundaries. I can see him making light of, "I knew y'all were bound up tight down south, but WOW"
She's kind of written off CRX and Bai Meizhen as compatible people to talk to on romance and sexuality. She brought it up briefly with Su Ling, but even with their lower class upbringing and casual rapport, they still have a sizeable disconnect, and Su Ling isn't really a big talker. Qingge is perceptive, but heavily biased herself.
LQ's perfectly welcome to decline 99.9% of the Zheng approach, but I think she has shown herself to have a history of taking what she likes from something and leaving out what she doesn't care for. I think she'd see the value in and resonate with the forthrightness of the Zheng, particularly with regard to interest and consent. It would be interesting to see her struggle to incorporate it in her own behavior, when she knows she has some bad reactions to unlearn.
It's a bit of a long shot considering how long it's been since we last saw her, but that girl with the lighting scars might work for romantic advice too. Also, it's really annoying that I can't remember her name, she was one of my favourite characters in Forge.

Successor art is creating fanfiction of an existing work. They've already done the base structure and concepts, you just need to expand it in your preferred direction.
Creating a new art is making an original work. Its asserting a statement that "This Is Me". Its pretty defining.
It ALSO means you have an art that functions from late Green to early Cyan, but thats more a side perk
I wonder what sort of laws there are concerning mobile oppression fortresses...
Realistically, most nobles wouldn't be too happy about a giant turtle traipsing through their territory and leaving behind lake-sized footprints while accidentally destroying all wards in its path and sending the local wildlife into panic.

Also realistically, at that point, there isn't much they could do to stop it from happening. I mean, it's a giant turtle that leaves lake-sized footprints when it walks, not many options to pursue should he decide to walk through your territory.

When you deal in the business of reality breaking, this sounds very much like a reasonable opponent. If not one you'd deliberately hunt for funsies/loot. And most nobles do deal in that business.
Sure, the local baron will not have cultivators of a high enough realm to make a dent in it. But his superiors?

He'd be very welcome in the Golden Fields. For a start, most of it is already ravaged, so he wouldn't be doing much damage, secondly he's a spirit of destruction and growth, so he'd actually do some good here. Thirdly given his reaction to the Ghost Immortal, Zhengui intrinsically despises the undead, so it's quite safe to say he'd quite happily set about fighting the Ash Walkers wherever he went.
That admittedly does add up to the disadvantage that he might be too well suited to the Golden Fields and it might be difficult to cajole him to leave
I love CRX, and I feel deeply for the Emerald Seas, but Gu Tai and the Golden Fields were always my final choice when it came to which path we should take.
Exploring desert lands and tomb raiding with Tai, starting a new branch clan that'll eventually overtake the Gu and Han, and generally terraforming the land with Zhengui, with Ashen Shadow and Burning Glade Restoration as our arts, and eventually killing the Twilight King with White/Sublime Zhengui and the Moon...we were so close to greatness ( T_TT)!!!
Edit: But I guess killing Shenhua, bringing together and reforming the ES and its culture and ascending to become a worldwide GS and new phase of the Moon work too
Now that I think about it, maybe we should get on writing a biography at some point before we get to sovereignty. So that there's a written account, that's not particularly swayed by whatever our way becomes, that some random peasant girl because a white.

Hmm true. We gotta learn from the mistakes of the Horned Lord and Palace of One. Always leave a record to clarify our Way and purpose so that it won't be up to clumsy interpretation.
I think a song that works like what the Wang Matriach is doing works too. It can even start a new Ling clan tradition!!! High realm Ling scion always leaving a biography/song that fully express their Ways to guide future paths and prevent misinterpretations
