Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

"You... you can't be here! This room is impenetrable without the power of a fourth realm! And what did you just do to my masterpiece!"

She cocked her head to the side, her eyes narrowing into viscous slits. "Have you ever considered that you're just not very good at security."

Her response was a wordless scream of range warbling through the crystals distorting filter.
Its like Cultivator!Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus. Except talking... Damnit there must be a better comparison thats escaping me.

A ribcage wasn't exactly a vault, but what good was she if she couldn't improvise.
A scene in the future.

A mortal collapses in the street. An alarmed spouse calls out for a doctor.

Ling Qi appears as if from nowhere. She reaches out to the downed mortal to help.

"Are you a healer?"

"Not technically. But I've come to consider that surgery is rather like a heist. Wouldn't you agree?"

I think getting the full posse would be best here, Qi is without her primary offensive talisman, satisfying as it would be to nail Renshu I don't think we can assume he's learned nothing after the last...three times we did exactly this to him?

If she shows up alone or with just a friend he'd be ready for a fight.
That is after all how she's always worked so far.
That's assuming that he's even here in the first place. If he's still among the underground people, and transmitting from a distance then Ling Qi is not going to catch him in the cistern.

The main concern I've got is that these things are probably going to be going off NOW, since renshu knows it's only a matter of time until they are found and disarmed, so he's going to try and get as much use as possible out of them. And that means every minute is crucial, and protecting civilians takes priority over dithering with institutions.

"The cancer was inoperable. How could you possibly save him Dr. Ling?"
"It was inoperable, but not unstealable."

Its not dithering over institutions. LQ didnt come with the set up and resources to deal with something as big as this. A Ministry team would have the resources, peoples and skills that can help in combination with LQ.

LQ now has the ability to straight up steal shit from inside someone because she can justify it as a vault. Amazing.

She cocked her head to the side, her eyes narrowing into viscous slits. "Have you ever considered that you're just not very good at security."

Imagine thinking your security is worth shit when LQ has bypassed it to some degree every single time, stole everything not bolted down, stole things that were bolted down, and stole the bolts too.

The fact that it has worked 3 times shows he is a slow learner. He had a realm advantage on us back then too.

Yan Renshu just some nerd in a closet who didn't do anything to anybody we picked on!

Get fucked Renshu!

We don't get to see Ling Qi really shit on somebody she loaths often but man is it great when it does happen.

Ling Qi, Battlefield Surgeon. Suyin will be so proud.

Also Grinning too. That had to be one of the most Grinning medical procedures possible.

I also love how little thought LQ gives to Renshu being alive. I can see the sect being livid when they hear of this, but the most reaction LQ gave even internally was casually burning the shit out of him. Amazing.

We should make an Art of that. Negligent Verbal Evisceration.

Wow. LQ has better banter than Sixiang could ever dream of having, and more chad energy than GG hyped up on Sun juice. The flexxing in this chapter was just amazing :D

Regarding the vote: the second option is definitely optimal, but this interaction has reminded me of how fun the "LQ dives in and brings mayhem solo before dragging a trophy back to Meizhen like an outdoor cat" moments in Forge were.
Time is a factor here imo, For one example, there might be risk of a lessened signal being sent to a few of the party favours if we delay.

Another funny thing is this probably took a lot of resources and a lot of the Ylith intel network to set up, something Renshu probably justified to his sponsors as attacking the Emerald Seas / White Sky diplomacy efforts, but was really motivated by petty revenge. And then it fails. In spectacular fashion. I wonder if Yan Renshu has fallen in the esteem of his new patrons at all because of this - he may have potentially compromised a rather large amount of their operations over a grudge, and then not even accomplished the objective.

Ling Qi doesn't really hold grudges because she just dismisses the people she has passed as unimportant, i am low key surprised she even remembered him in the first place back in last chapter.

The battle isn't over yet. Do not start celebrating without having a Ministry Team comb over the whole region and give the absolute okay that it is over.

And then don't start Celebrating until we use our connections with the Ducal House to get shit double-checked by senior ministers.

Frankly I am very concerned about the mention of corpse eaters. Those things grow into cyan absurdly quickly, far faster than we could find them all. I 100% think we need to bring someone that hits heavier than us or just bring more people to hit all of them faster.

[ ] Withdraw, seek cooperation with the Ministry and the ruling family, go down as a group.

This has been our whole making friends with institutions arc, so we should keep on doing that. We don't want to go rushing off into another trap half-cocked anyways.

*Could* have the resources, people and skills to help, not would. We know that this is a small intelligence and capture operation that deputized Ling to serve as most of their muscle, so I don't think it's clear at all that they have a team immediately ready to suppress enemy action.

LQ can kill a man with words alone. LanLan would be so proud.

Anyways, I'm firmly on team backup. Let's share face and avoid all the booby traps. LQ would probably be fine, but I'm not so sure about the village.

*Meizhen, looking down at a messy corpse*
"Qi, when I called you a Thief of Hearts I did not mean...this."

"This is the most sensible thing she has done. To think that, I, Cui, could be impressed by the Cold Viper."

Well LQ definitely doesnt have the resources and set up on her right now.

So between a "could have" and a "definitely does not have" you go with the former.

Perhaps, but the ruling clan will have enough omph they could mobilize quickly. This is the seat of their power afterall. Even if they have to drag people away from personal projects this will be important enough.
