Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I honestly have to wonder if Ming Xia even counted as a cultivator towards the end there.
It sounds more like (ironically) she was replaced by something that wore her like a suit.

Feels like a classic case of what in other stories would be called Demonic Cultivation.

A form of cultivation that advances by preying upon people, and in doing so twists the cultivator into someone that must prey upon people.

There's a good reason such practices are banned in the empire.

Yeah the Empire's not going to have a good time fighting the Twelve Stars Cloud. The Starson's children return to their former glory.
That seems kind of optimistic about the Cloud's chances. The recent revelations about the Stars have convinced me they're not just going to get rolled over by the Emerald Seas, but if they're warry of Shenhua alone they don't have what it takes to fight the entire Empire. I'm pretty sure Sun Shao alone could solo all their sovereigns.

Oh these are both real good but I think I'm going with the school

Man, that was unsettling.
That a "mere" third realm, which we have learned to treat as just starting to be relevant, can do something as complex and hideous as replacing another person and go completely unnoticed.
Did Wei Jun ever found out what happened? Or did he just found the corpses of his son and his fake wife on the morning?

Now, the options.
Narratively, I much prefer the Autumn School. But it grates me to pass up on the treasures that we may find on the auction... even if we would be forced to, ugh, buy them.
Maybe a little heist on good humor wouldn't hurt?

I like seeing lin in non-military settings. Either one works for me.

Hmm...Im going to think on this a little more...

The Gold Autumn School has the opportunity for us to encounter someone who we can spend our rapidly dwindling finances to hire on. (Watch us be broke by the time we get back)

On the other hand the auction could be just about anything opportunity wise. An encounter with someone unexpected. A rare item up for sale which has the potential to help our fief or make Ling Qi more absurdly powerful.
The tricky bit is an auction is where money can quickly dwindle......

Im leaning towards the Gold Autumn school because theres a better chance of recruiting people there and heavens knows that would be nice to have. On the other hand I think I recall a thing a bit back where we recruited a bunch of people from there already for administration work.....

The temptation of the auction is enticing, though its also a risky bit of roulette.....
