Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Hmm, I think since we are in the thunder palace on behalf of our new sister we should probably choose the one that she can excel most at.

Ling Qi would do well at either challenge, but we don't have any evidence that Yu Nuan has anything to add to the scavenger hunt. Meanwhile she's currently working on a thunder based movement art and what better way is there to train it than during a chase within the thunder palace? This can be an excellent way for her and her spirit to shine in a spirit court she will be returning to again and again.

Ling Qi can excel at either challenge with wind thief etc. but our new sister has the best chance at showing her chops during the chase imo.

Yes we do. The most important part of a scavenger hunt, if you aren't going to just shadow someone else, is being able to figure out the clues. Yu Nuan has both been here before, and has a different perspective than Ling Qi, so should have a much better time interpreting the clues.

But Yu Nuan is dissatisfied with her thunder movement art because it is lightning dependent. And you have to consider that these games will give us prizes. Since she has already been in the Thunder Palace several times, we can assume she already got a few Thunder aligned rewards.
According to the mythology, Leigong's wife should be a lightning spirit. So participating in her game will probably give rewards better suited to solve Yu Nuan's problem.

Seems more likely to get a movement based art from a movement based challenge. Especially when the other contestants will be using similar techniques. That the scavenger hunt will give it while the other won't seems like a stretch to me.

The Myth of the Deity Leigong in Chinese Folklore is that he was an ascended mortal gifted the power of Thunder to smite the evils of the world. However, in the dark clouds of the Storm, his eyesight was poor and he would often miss. One day, he hit an innocent mortal woman and killed her by mistake. A higher ranking deity in the Heavenly Bureaucracy came down to right Leigong's wrong, and brought her back as a goddess. She was gifted the power of Lightning, to illuminate the dark in the instant before Leigong struck. That way, Leigong would not miss again.

This is a story that involves "Rage by itself isn't enough" that Yu Nuan has insight about. Thunder is powerful, forceful, raging, but it's not enough on it's own. Her movement Art is Thunder, and is stuck following Lightning. She says it functions in the space between Lightning strikes that come from the Storms that her and Qiu can summon, but we know from LQ's kit that summons take a moment to spin up. This would be why Yu Nuan is worried about how her Movement is limited in an Ambush, saying:

"I gotta be able to move when I need to, it's scary how much difference getting a warning out can make."

My suggestion, then, is that while the Chase will give her alteration/insight into the movement Art itself, the Scavenger Hunt may give her a Lightning technique to help synergize better with the existing movement Art in the long term. Planning for the Future rather than living in the Present. I don't mind either option, I think both will be fun! But the chance for a Lightning Perception Art that allows Yu Nuan to accomplish what she wants by supporting her existing strengths rather than making those strengths stronger seems awesome.

In addition, I like the idea of a Scavenger Hunt as a test of Creativity and Inspiration (Lightning/Heavens). We haven't seen Yu Nuan in combat yet, but we also haven't seen her on-the-fly creative problem solving either. I think that could be a fun thing to explore, the Ling coming together to solve creative issues. Especially given that Ling Qi is already something of a "creative problem solver" for Renxiang, coming at issues from obtuse or indirect angles that others may not consider c:

what I mean (and I think the poster you're responding to meant) is that it's approaching the problem from a creative direction that may pay off in the future, rather than improving her already strong movement in the present.

While more/better movement can definitely help you deliver a warning, you also need the Perception and Initiative to be able to know that there's something to warn others about and act in time to make use of that movement. That's why I think a broader toolbox is more interesting here. A Lightning Perception Art could not only provide her an excellent tool for detecting danger while Herding, but also a Lightning synergy that enables both Qiu's and her own Movement Arts as it's the Lightning that their Thunder can follow up on. It's a creative work-around to the limits of the Thunder Movement, rather than brute-forcing the Movement to be better at what it does.
