Actually she didn't say she was definitely getting it for Biyu, it was just something she was considering. We may have the choice later, like with her birthday present.

It's not confirmed by any stretch but there's like a 95% chance that we'll give her some kind of fluffy animal. It'd set her up for never being alone like Qi, to be safe with a companion, encourage her to be social and deal with spirits, let her play and run around and even give her the freedom to do what she herself wants. I don't see us giving her a flute when Yrs suggested that.

That's a thing for kids in spirit blooded families (see Han Jian) but I don't think we've seen it elsewhere.
Allowing Beasts and humans to form friendships probably aren't common and is probably a bit of a risk but there's no reason why it can't be done. It's just a somewhat unimperial thing to do.
Maybe you should take a break from ToD and update your other quest, the one about a ninj- *gets mobbed*

Another example of a spirit blood family doing that with their kin. Unless we get some confirmation of vanilla mortal children doing that sort of thing I'm not willing to dismiss safety concerns as 'imperials are no fun.'
If we do try a puppy is probably the best bet though.

We can probably take a guess that both Xia Lin and Meng Dan are roughly around Ling Qi's level (G4 B3)
Meanwhile Gan's level last we heard about it is around (B3 G2)
What's more interesting is probably their age. Are they our age and cultivation level and thus as Talented as CRX and Ling Qi? Are they closer to GG's Talent so we don't all leave him in the dust? Because if they they progress slower in the future they can be at a higher stage now. If Meng Dan is our age he'd possibly be an opponent at the Intersect competition as well.
I'm thinking that they're both a year older and ~stage 5-6, higher than the moderate Count Talent Wang Chao but not Ducal level like our crazy ass.
Dont know about Meng Dan, but Xia Lin was said to be threshold like us.
there is also the matter of cultivation start. Ling Qi started at her entrance to the sect, but most cultivated before that, with the most early according to Han Jian bieng 10 usually(Cai Renxiang and Meizhen started even earlier). There is also resources, as Ling Qi was on lowest resource level most of her first year, though now she gets quite a lot from Cai
Yes but we're practically caught up with CRX and Meizhen. The early advantage was quickly lost in our case. If Xia Lin is from our year that means she could give Ducal Scions a run for their money and is an equal in cultivation to CRX. Threshold is the level of Wang Chao who's two years older and of middling Count Talent. Xia Lin being one year older seems much more likely if she's firmly in the fourth stage as that would put her closer to GG's uncommonly high but not absurd Talent.
She could just as well have started earlier-same effect, but even in our age she is not as talented as we are, since assuming she started at 10, she is cultivating 6 years, while we have 2(she probably is older still).
