Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
If Renxiang had the correct expertise she'd be more likely to convince Shenhua of Ling Qi's idea not less, so that doesn't actually track with what the vote options say.

Ling Qi is the one who is more likely to convince Shenhua, not CRX.

The (Higher chance for social flubs, more ability to sell your idea.) talks about Ling Qi though. Obviously, if she does all the talking she gets more ability to sell her idea. That doesn't mean that her chances would be greater than CRX's.*

I also wonder, what exactly does "her idea" IC consist of? She doesn't seem to have an outcome she'd like to happen at the moment.

*CRX will probably change "the idea" a bit, so it'll be hers as well, but that's a tradeoff.

I think that this choice does mirror the Bloody Moon dream somewhat; we have a chance to stand up for something we think is more likely to be "right" and hopefully save lives, at the cost of potentially more dire circumstances to ourselves. The last time we didn't do that, we had to live with that regret for a while. If we don't want more of the same, we should make a different choice here.

But on the other hand, Shen Hu serves as a great foil to our situation. He was ALSO in the Bloody Moon dream, and he decided to stand for what he thought was right, even at personal cost! And he ended up better for it in the case of the dream. But, to be entirely fair, he also did the same kind of thing just now, and whist he covered himself in glory and probably died without regrets, it doesn't change the fact that he is in fact dead now.

CRX only has a lower chance not to look like a derp in front of the court, convincing Shenhua (the only one whose opinion really matters) is a separate issue.
Which is weird because our relevant qualifications is elaborating on how the Ice Ladies looked - not justifying the diplomatic and military arguments which Renxiang is much better placed for imo.

Depends how yrs was differentiating how the different paths would be played though I guess.

Renxiang pinched the bridge of her nose, squeezing her eyes shut. Ling Qi winced. Coming from Cai Renxiang, that was practically a muttered expletive.

Also I laughted at this.

Yes, having Ling Qi as a retainer is amazing overall, but there are some understandably frustrating points. Learn to deal with it, Lady Renxiang.

It was a relief that it hadn't been someone she knew better. That it had not been Li Suyin or Su Ling, or even Xuan Shi. The thought shamed her, but it was there all the same. She had liked Shen Hu well enough but… there had just never been time to get to know him better. Now she never would. It was a bitter feeling.
Ah, the knife of wanting to get to know a character more, but it being too late to do so.

[] Cai Renxiang will make her report, and segue into giving you a chance to speak yourself in reporting on this detail in particular. (Higher chance for social flubs, more ability to sell your idea.)

This is Ling Qi's idea, and thus her responsibility to see through to the end for good, or ill instead of passing the buck onto CRX.

I guess if we had chosen the underground mission we would have ended with the inverse Elder wounded and a dead Ruan Shen instead? From an objective point of view this is the better result as Shen Hu didn't really do anything for us nor was he particularly significant to the Sect. And while an Elder Jiao out of commission is a more serious blow to the Sect (or at least in its ability to think beyond "punch the barbarians NAO!") it doesn't do anything for us (Ling Qi).
So, all in all, I'm pretty glad we picked the above-ground battle...

I do wonder what our reward(s) will be...

Building any kind of personal rapport with Cai Mom seems like a pretty good thing in the long term. Afterall, we saw what happened to CRX's minions she didn't approve of...

Can we not talk about the comparative merits of different characters having died?

I know they are just characters, but it makes me feel bad to treat their lives so coldly.

The way I see it, having LQ speak for herself makes it more likely that Shenhua will be convinced that her idea has merit, but also that LQ is more likely to come across to the court as a little too comfortable with the idea that "barbarians" are people. Especially since sentiment towards the people on the other side of the Wall has been a little strained since the whole Ogodei thing. Now, we've seen that Shenhua couldn't give less of a fuck about political orthodoxy if bucking it suits her. But the rest of her court, probably not so much.

Since I really want that Ice Lady plot, I know what I'm voting for, potential political consequences be damned.

Mourning for the loss of Shen Hu aside, yes, we would've indeed lost Ruan Shen had we gone to the underground mission according to yrs.

Take out one Shen for another, right? Hahahaha...hahahha...ha...

*cries in the corner*

Moon Ninja sempai in a coma, Mud Boy dead, Turtle Boy rejected isolated and took a nightmare as his wingman.

Turns out socializing with Ling Qi as a dude is bad for your health

Run my poor Bao boy.

Gu Tai: Bullet dodged.

Nooo. Dancing coffin is only for people who are hated! Those who we celebrate that we no longer have with us!

Milk snatchers and people who tax pensioners more that they have as fixed income (IIRC)

Fuck me.

My boi.

He's gone.
You know how I could identify your post on Sv and Discord today without looking at the name? You are the only person i know who regularly introduces his posts with a curse word, which is impressive I must say. :p
Concerning Honorable Sect brother Mud boy/ Shen Hu, I too am sad he is gone and also wish him a swift delivery into the after life. Hopefully no Shishigui curse draws his no doubt tortured spirit back into the physical realm. That battle between Elder Jiao and his opponent can´t have been good for local laws.
