The Long Founding (Warhammer 40k)

I agree with what Profilozof about attrition rates from being next to the eye of terror and what Dezron said about them being able to take care of their bears. So I'm pretty sure that Apothecaries are going to be a good choice to go with.

I think that other than apothecaries we could make use of deepstrikes or champions for a narrative of chapter that opposes black legion even thou they have the same genefather;

As for chapter symbol I think that a white bear head with half of its head covered in ash.

I think the closest thing any Astarte have to Therapists are Iron Hands' Iron Fathers. Other Chaplins just tell you to repress your trauma at best and further radicalize at worst but the Fathers amputate the perceived cause of your distress. That's like a fumbling cave man first step towards therapy.

I'm know. But with the massive amount of fighting that they are going to be in then more Apothecaries would really help keep their numbers up and allow them to be combat effective. The bears are going to be, more than likely, fighting in the front so they are going to need medical attention alot.
We only have one Extra Training and one Extra Equipment. Going for Extra Champions makes sense because it boosts our legendary traits and so does extra Assault Packs.

Oh I thought we had more Extra Training.
Not selected for this Chapter I'm afraid. I think we have some banked tho, probably from a future chapter. That's why I think Extra Champions is the best pick because it will make it harder for this Chapters enemies to cause casualties. And we'd reap casualties on them. Especially since we're probably going to deal with Chaos which has plentiful Champions of their own.

Apothecaries seems most likely to help with the immolation. if only in the sense of making sure they survive and don't have long term pain issues

Thanks Emperor, they already have some!
Annnnnnd? The whole point is that extra training in an area makes them better at it, and allows that area to do more than the usual things, so regular apothecaries will do their job with Astartes level capabilities, but extra training means they do it better, and have more and better apothecaries to cover additional responsibilities, like caring for bears, or turning the planet into a medical utopia by uplifting the mortal doctors and facilities in their spare time.

No. Bad. Can't have more. Only different. /s

something to lessen that effect is a must but in the event that we dont do that we can always call this chapter the "Immolators".

This is definatly going to be an intresting chapter to see Emps and Sons react to

Yeah this was what I was thinking of with the medics. I was worried they would cripple themselves and the like. Thereby rendering themselves less capable as a whole. Not a good thing, considering their position and what they'll be fighting. All the more reason to give them the apothecaries. Attrition rate alone is going to justify it.

don't think they need additonal apothecaries, maybe more assault marines for their favored tactics?

Extra medics don't really make sense when you think about it. They already likely have all their doctors on stand by when they do that thing. More likely won't help since there is only so much they can do.
