While we pass the time for the update, is matchmaking Alicent to Jason Lannister still on the table after the dancing reaction?
I should point out our ability to actually choose who Alicent ends up with is very limited and really depends on our relationship with Otto. Though making Alicent Handmaiden has delayed when Alicent will get married by years since Marrying her off means removing her as Handmaiden, and doing that too soon would absolutely be seen as an insult by the Royal Family.

Nah, we're fine with doing it three times a year? My own perspective is that we can absolutely afford it. If we have desperate needs, that's what the Stress-building Three Actions are for. We need to get better, stronger, and smarter now, while we have the time to study up.
I think that 2 training actions per year are enough for now, we have been shown that we are steadily increasing our prowess at a good rate...

And I agree that we have to get better now that we have time to study up, but rather than monofocusing on training we should also find time to study more things so that we can shore up our other weaknesses...
If we need Laenor to keep House Velaryon's dragons on-side (which is one of the reasons for marrying him in the first place). Why don't we pair Laenor with Alicent. This way, Alicent gets a husband that wouldn't mind her being with us, it should (hopefully) bring the Velaryon's back onside and it leaves our hand in marriage free (where we can use it as a barging chip or marry our male true love).
TBH I have always thought that if we don't want to marry Laenor, Laenor's best match would be our cousin Jeyne Arryn, especially now that we have plans to cultivate a friendship with her... Being the Lady Paramount of the Vale she is a more than adequate match for Laenor, she is very likely to be loyal to us in the Dance (and Laenor by association), they can be each other beard (which would pretty damm useful for both of them), and seeing that both are pretty stand up people is very likely that they would end up being close friends...

Diplo training should be covered by studying. We had a chance to take a diplo rank up last time at least.

I think people are vastly over-estimatng our ability to play matchmaker, We had the ability with viserys but thats because we helped provide a pillar of support for im after our mothers death, not everybody is gona be available like that. I think the much safer assumption is to assume that we only have our own hand to bargain with

I think romance wise, so long as he's like his show self; Harwin strong is the better marriage candidate. If only because the thread really wants him in Rhaenyras harem (and to be honest, unless there's a good bit of skullduggery going on; Harwin, much like Bobby B likes a warrior woman, but thanks to lack of options, settles for show Rhaenyras spunk)

The challenge is, that you'd have to marry him, or all of his children will stick out like sore thumbs.

A better pairing for Alicent (if we also plan to seduce her, and potentially even Mysaria) is Laenor.

If only because he can do the honerable and knightly things that Alicent likes in men; and none of the seemingly unsatisfying sex (if we go with the idea that's she's closet Rhaenyra sexual/Rhaenyra leaning bisexual)

They don't have to get pregnant, and if necessary, you could always use Harwin, since dark hair and brown eyes are already Hightower traits.

How the heck are you gonna convince Corlys and Rhaenys to betrothe their only son to the daughter of someone they hate which also provides no path to the throne. No "oh your grandkids will totally get a royal marriage " does not count

I should make further clear that our ability to influence any marriages beyond our own is going to be fairly limited. Viserys was a very specific situation that only worked because of his mental state and our standing with him. We are heir to the throne, we are not even an adult nor are we head of our family. We cannot dictate such matters.

And promising marriage for people who are not even born yet is a...dubious prospect.

Damn it all. *Tears up elaborate shipping chart and war plans based on charts*

Honestly our best chance of controlling Alicents marriage is just letting/telling her (to) spy on us because Otto isnt going to want to lose his best link to the inside of Rhaenrya's head so he will either delay a marriage as long as possible or marry her to someone based at court

After watching Inside Out 2, I confess that some of you are too anxious about this "planning for the future" thing and the lesson of the movie is that this is not very good, calm down my god 😅 .

Please don't be too upset about I, we will definitely play matchmaker for our children...

And seeing canon that Rhaenyra was very productive in that regard, we will probably have quite a few of them play matchmaker with...

I suppose, that is true. Still we do need a husband who is equally productive, politically useful and flexible

Its mainly that we have nothing to do while we wait for the update. So we discuss stuff.
Very much so...

I would like to try to shift the discussion towards something significantly more immediate than matchmaking... What do you guys think about studying music before the Royal Progress so that we can pick up some songs in our travels?

And honestly, the Girl-Rhaegar build seems pretty neat, if only because no matter how the dance ends, our spirit will still be able to torment Rhaegar in his sleep for totally stealing our vibe...

I'm thinking we should start setting up things so we win a tourney before our coming of age.

Train once or twice, explore KL for equipment, and then take the action.
