It definitely feels like that folks aren't paying attention to the stated downside of Diligent. Being stuck going toward a particular goal once you've set on it to avoid stress gains sounds like a bad idea, whereas Ambition already fits the sort of thing that SV goes for in these quests.

There are negatives and positives for each. I chose diligence because I want rhaenyra to put greater emphasis and focus on chosen goals. And as a consequence of being the first female knight and future queen, rhaenyra will have to work harder to be recognized and even if successful in a goal than the lords of Westeros who oppose will have to realize at least reluctantly that she worked for it, that she is not going anywhere, that she will be queen. Everything rhaenyra did was extremely ambitious, this is a society of men, noble men, who can almost do no wrong, that if its wrong its brushes off, it's just youth, or a small mistake. But for rhaenyra every mistake will be huge, big or small. You all read what viserys said that Baratheon sees his defeat as a grave insult and for others as well.

We will get trouble with stress in some form or other with all the traits, though. With honour it's even worse, because going by what Teen Spirit says it's not just about not being sneaky ourselves, it is also simply working with a master of whisperers at all, and it could also affect our marriage plans, etc. I suppose with honourable it is easier to avoid the stress, but at the cost of some pretty severe (IMO) restrictions.

And ambitious will have stress responses as well. Probably something like not working towards some grand and "impossible" goal causing stress. Which, really, wouldn't be too different to dilligent.

and probably thinks Viserys has the right idea in not having a Master of Whispers.

Viserys: Has no Master of Whispers
Also Viserys: Has his realm split into civil war by a conspiracy that developed right under his nose immediately after his death

Masters of Whispers can be right pricks, but pricks in your government don't have to have specifically the position of Master of Whispers to be able to cause damage. Hand of the King more than suffices.

[X] [Trait] The Honor You have Been Given
[X] [Celebrate] Celebrate Your Success with Ser Tarly

Honor is all.

Personally I rather like the idea of Hard Work as a trait. Jaehaerys was well known for his work ethic, and was warrior and scholar both, fighting trials by battle as his own champion on one hand and developing complex systems of law on the other. While Jaehaerys was probably more scholar than warrior, and we at best will still be necessarily more warrior than scholar, it does seem to suggest that a dilligent learned warrior is the sort of monarch the Westerosi take well to.

As someone who voted for Diligent this actually makes me want Diligent less.

Jaehaerys might have been a good king, but he was a shit man.

I have similar feelings towards most things relating to Rhaegar.

Updating my vote to do even more approval voting and I misplaced the post so you get to see me do it loudly I guess

[X] [Trait] The Hard Work That Brought You Here
[X] [Trait] All That You Could Achieve
[X] [Celebrate] Visit Your Father
[X] [Celebrate] Speak to Rhaenys The Queen Who Never Was (GM Discretion)

You may notice this is effectively anti voting against honourable, don't mind me

Yeah but I'm talking specifically about being a good monarch and the traits that would lead to that. Having Jaehaerys' more positive traits that helped him become a good king doesn't mean we would need to emulate his more negative ones that lead to him being a bad man.
