[] "Perhaps one duty can replace another. Become my Handmaiden and you won't be expected to marry for a decade more, mayhaps even longer."

Absolute no-brainer, yeah. It's a pragmatical argument AND it gets Alicent to be around us. Any vote has to include this, at least.

[] Talk with: Rhea Royce

To get intel on Daemon, or an ally against him.

[] [Defiant] Dance with a Girl: Victaria Tyrell

Look, Victaria might be a nobody, but she is also t he most likely to accept. And asking a girl for a dance is still a dicy proposition even outside Alicent. So this would be more about being a trailblazer than anything else.

[] Just try to relax and enjoy yourself.

So, after gaining 2 Stress, maybe we should do some stress reduction. This sounds like such an opportunity, and better that here then having to spend a regular turn action on it.

-[X] Talk with: Borros Baratheon
-[X] Talk with Harwin Strong
-[X] Talk with Elmo Tully

So explaining: I think the most important thing we to do here is to talk with Borros Baratheon. Borros is the heir to a Lord Paramount who canonically gets really upset about what he feels being the Targaryens ignoring him despite the family ties between the two houses. I'm not expecting him to go gaga over us because we had a conversation with him, but this is a tie that I think we would do well to start building now.

Aside from him Harwin Strong and Elmo Tully are both heirs to important houses who could potentially be a good match for us. Harwin in particular is also likely to be a loving one as well, which should jive well with our romantic trait. I don't feel we know any of those three well enough to dance with tehm at this point, but a talk seems appropriate.

I personally don't care much for the shipping goggles some people see our relationship with Alicent through, though of course to each his own. But personally I just don't care for the idea that we get into this conflict with the Hand of the King, who is unlikely to be dismissed as hand of the king this time around for the reason he was in canon, because we want to be able to stop his daughter from marrying. That's me though.

@Teen Spirit Would Sabitha Vypren be present at the wedding, She seems fun and I think would totally go for the dance with a lady. the handmaiden answer for Alicent is absolutely what im gonna be going for.

Well, but that is the beauty of it. Being Handmaiden to the Crown Princess is a genuine honour. Might Otto realize that this is explicitly Rhaenyra taking Alicent off the marriage market for years to come? Almost certainly, but it also gives him a venue to influence us - which is exactly the reason why handmaiden positions are considered such an honour. You are close to the Queen or in this case the Crown Princess and hence have an influence over her. That is nothing Otto would just sneer at. His daughter being named a handmaiden of the Crown Princess is a genuine honour and opportunity.

Just for those not in the loop: Jeyne Arryn is a lesbian in canon, who never married and instead lived together with her "dear companion".

She's also the Lady Paramount of the Vale.

A very good person to become friends with since she's one of the people who will be able to directly relate to our own issues with some topics and that's hard to come by.

To add to this, she's also our maternal cousin and one of Rhaenyra's first major supporters during the canon Dance.

Maybe it's me but I'm being reminded of the appointment of Jaime to the Kingsguard. Ostensibly Aerys did the Lannisters a great honor by appointing Jaime to the Kingsguard, but in practice it was meant to be a snub to Tywin by Aerys taking Jaime into his fold, with Tywin seeing it as such as well.

Her close friend, some would even call them gal pals. roommate even. tentatively on this plan since Sabitha is available (Teen spirit has to keep her away from us, the dynamic would be too powerful) i know a lot of people are observing but im eh, free alk action seems Super useful

I wouldn't say discreet. It's been pretty much an open secret. But she definitely managed to navigate the issues that caused her and since she's 5 years our senior, I'd wager she can give us some good tips, meaning we don't have to learn some stuff the hard way.

I like the idea of sitting back and observing, but with only three actions I think we need to be proactive. The real plotting has not yet started, so it's time to lay the ground work for our own support.

Jeyne is our cousin, and thus I feel mandatory to talk to her. The Vale ought to be our obvious base of support for our claim. Secure our base first.

Following that are the Riverlands and the Stormlands. They are the two kingdoms closest to the Crownlands and thus important for controlling the capital. Additionally, the Baratehons are particularly important due to being part of the Velaryon alliance block right now. We are going to have to be the bridge between our father and the Velaryons, and Boremund Baratheon is likely to be useful for that. However, directly approaching him is not likely to be effective I think. Instead dancing with his son will give us a chance to see what he is like, shows respect to our family ties, and gives us a future opening with the Baratheons. However, dancing with just one man is a little risky I think, so we want to dance with at least one other man, Elmo Tully seems like the most useful.

Not really. People were remarking about her and Jesamine's closeness for years even before the Dance and while they never said anything explicit, presumably because she was one of the nine most powerful people in Westeros, their insinuations were pretty thinly veiled

Jaime was heir to Casterly rock, Alicent is the daughter of a second son, he'd have to find a stupid good match for her to beat this position and the only position at court better than this just fell through his grasps. Otto is no Tywin

TBH whereas I love Jeyne I think that we should Dance with Rhea instead of talking with her, I would prefer our talks about Daemon to remain as private as possible...

Well, it was an open secret in both King's Landing and the Vale that she was into girls, so it was less discreet than you think...

Ladies-in-waiting doesn´t take a vow of lifelong service and chastity though...

Hm. I'm coming around to her then. But in regards to Azel's plan, I still think that maybe spending an action on the Relax choice would make sense - a potential way to lower stress instead of having to spend a full turn action on that.

I think the opposite is actually helpful here. Daemon has openly split with Rhea and we had an open "disagreement" with Daemon. The two of us interacting will look like an Anti-Daemon club anyway, so might as well have it in the open where interested parties can make themselves known.

I agree that interacting with Borros is important. But I think we can dance with him instead of just talking. Dancing is a way to offer prestige to our dance partners, and we know that Borros cares about that. It's also something that the Tullys have to care about.

Still I would approval vote your plan except for the fact that it does not have us talking with Jeyne. I feel making sure we continue to display our alliance with the Arryn family is important. Harwin is usually at court anyways, because his father is here, so I don't feel the pressure to interact with him at this event, we will have other opportunities. Jeyne Arryn however we will likely not see outside of our tour other than this event and perhaps our own wedding.

I think this is an opportunity to interact with people that we do not get on normal turns, so I'd prefer spending a normal turn action on relaxation rather than miss a chance to interact with people.

We can talk plenty with Borros when we do the great tour. Camp there for 4 weeks and go drinking and hunting with him for 3 of those. Stormlanders / Baratheons love drinking and hunting.

Good point, I would rather approach someone else or try to relax rather than Observe the crowd though, but you have my vote for now...

I think talking is more appropriate then dancing at this point when we don't know them know yet. We don't want someone to accidentally read too much into us inviting them to a dance then there really is to it. But sure:
