Honestly I kinda hate the Find True Love trait that was taken at the beginning. Feels like a needless debuff and Stress inducer. Combined with some voters' interest in Alicent, a straight up gay relationship as if we weren't facing enough hurdles, and I'm kinda checked out of the whole 'wanna find true love' goal. Hope we can just reduce stress with riding around on Syrax and becoming a knight instead.

I'll be honest, the prospect of potentially facing Vhagar in battle causes me more concern then one of maybe finding a girlfriend other then Alicent. Black Aly is pretty cool.
I really don't get why you are so stuck on the idea that we will have to fight our stepmother no matter what and that it's impossible to do anything about it.

This just comes across as repeating the mistakes that lead to Rhaenyra ending up with the Strong boys scandal in canon.

Taking the Romantic trait of course took us into that direction. If we marry for politics, then it isn't love. And our romantic aspiration is in fact to find true love. The idea of "oh you can find love in a political marriage" is trying to square the circle, and also comes with a lot of unpleasant implications, too. Distasteful implications, I'd even say.

I'd rather we call things as they are. We can find love with Alicent, and then use a marriage as a purely political tool. For which Laenor is the best suited guy in general.

Maybe the cheeky mustache twirl that Corlys did when we mentioned the fact that he was trying to put his grandson on the throne?
His ambitions are all well and good, but we too can play politics and make sure that doesn't happen.

Overall though, our most pressing issue remains Daemon, not Corlys.

I take the finding love ambition as basically playing the game on a higher difficulty setting and hey, maybe having a loving marriage will also help keep our relationship with our kids good by having a more functional home life. That's important if we think one day our children might ride dragons for our claims. I do think that trying to add to that anbition a plan to also have a marriage that is a deliberate sham just so we could perhaps have a somewhat better chance of pursuing Alicent of all people is not what I'd care to do though.

I just don't agree with you, and given that the examples mentioned in our traits are of the marriages of our parents and grandparents, political marriages that at least in our grandparents case was also arranged, then it seems obvious that those aren't mutually contradictory, or else why would Rhaenyra hold them as examples of what she wants in life?

And again, Laenor can't or won't give us heirs, which is a major issue with any political marriage.

I think the Romantic trait explicitly states that her husband doesn't need to be Rhaenyra's true love, so running around on a match so beneficial as Laenor wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

And I feel like if Joffrey's death doesn't send Laenor into a spiral of a depression, causing a considerably more reckless Rhaenyra to jump on the first hunk who would take a swing, then odds of impregnation aren't nearly so bad as canon might imply.

Yeah. I don't see why we would ever consider an affair with a man when we have a stable, loving relationship with a woman. That's the convenient thing about Laenor and Alicent. Everyone involved can get out of it what they want for the most part, with the only wrinkle being that we will need to find a Loras to Laenors Renly.

How do we get heirs to ensure the succession and act as dragonriders for us then?

Unironically pull the same thing that Margaery was willing to do with Renly and Loras. The 'I can bring a dude in for the first four minutes, I really just need the money shot' tactic. You know, Ol' Reliable.

*sigh* People wanting to girlkiss, but not voting on the last round to speak with Allicent.

Explain to me how we are supposed to have a romance and such, if we spend our time in books ?

We can be in lesbians later, now is time for securing our political future so we don't have to deal with a possible civil war or succession crisis down the line while we're in lesbians.

Tell Laenor to lean back and think of Joffrey Lonmouth.

This is hardly an insurmountable obstacle as long as we otherwise have a decent relationship and aren't completely estranged like in canon.

And yet for some reason that didn't work out in canon. What's plan B if Laenor says no to having sex we know he doesn't want to do with us?

In canon, Rhaenyra hated everything about this arrangement and was quite happy that she barely interacted with Laenor.

You are ignoring the actual situation and circumstances to draw your prefered conclusions.

Honestly Criston not brutally murdering the possible love of his life in front of everyone will probably see a much more agreeable Laenor.

I think it's mentioned that they did bear through it a few times before stopping. Because there "was no joy in it".

And Rhaenyra really didn't wait long at all to be with Strong, I'm pretty sure the canon versions only gave it the most half-assed attempts before deciding to pass the bastards off as true-borns.

Not having bastards to pass off as true-born will create a sense of urgency as they do need to produce heirs for both their houses. And if Laenor has Joffrey and Rhaenyra has Alicent to satisfy their emotional and physical needs, then a few attempts every other week feels like it would be much more doable.

There's also Saera's sons. They exist if we are that desperate for a sperm doner.
They also live in Volantis, half a world away. Reaching out to them carries some pretty big risks, especially if they do actually come and join us as a random Volantene man arriving to our court would be remarked upon publicly.

Also I want to note that the idea that we could just make Laenor have sex with us even if he doesn't want to is something that people were even saying in canon when discussing the prospect of his marriage with Rhaenyra:
What of it? I am not fond of fish, but when fish is served, I eat it.[1]
—Mellos, on the match between Laenor Velaryon and Rhaenyra Targaryen

Some of the arguments in favor of the marriage now really do seem to come across as a reiteration of the ones that ended up with the canonical Strongs scandal:
In canon, Rhaenyra hated everything about this arrangement and was quite happy that she barely interacted with Laenor.

Laenor himself is the one who leaves Rhaenyra to somewhere else shortly after their wedding once he's done mourning Joffrey:
Afterwards, Laenor returned to Driftmark, causing many to wonder whether the marriage had been consummated, as Rhaenyra remained at court. At High Tide, Laenor quickly found a new favorite, Ser Qarl Correy.[1]

Nor does this Rhaenyra comes across as someone who would be much happier with a match with Laenor then the canon one given how just in this update alone we have been told how much she hates the idea.

I convinced myself. Laenor is about as good a beard as we could wish for and vice versa. It also gets us directly tied to more dragons, draws Corly into out camp and prevents us from being forced into a much more horrible match later on. As far as political marriage prospects go, we won't beat this one.

I'd have rather waiteda few years, but politics unfortunately force our hand sooner or later.

Laenor would have no reason to leave if Joffrey stays alive. And a less hedonistic and reckless Rhaenyra has no reason to sleep with a man and try to pass off bastards as true-born.
