So if we are going to supply a faction in the Chinese civil war besides sending iron tiger, aircraft and other volunteers what should we make and send them like lots RPGs or light attack helicopters or what exactly?

Given our specialties, I bet the best thing we could send would be radios and computers. We have a ton of personnel, but China has orders of magnitude more. This isn't ww2 era China, they probably have sufficient guns, at least to the point that our assistance would be appreciated but not critical. Food and other logistical supplies are always good, but we don't exactly have a surplus on that front.

Simple troop radios, cryptographic machines, ewar/ecm/eccm equipment. Given that it's a civil war, it's likely we could persuade them to (very reluctantly) hand over technical specifications for their versions of that kind of equipment, so that we could build and supply them with superior versions that directly counter it.

Edit: So... how bad would it look, theoretically, just pure hypotheticals, asking for a friend, if we made a supercomputer to cyberdize warfare. Just, y'know, turn over war planning and execution to a machine, just a bit. A lot. Completely.

Real fucking bad, as your SupComps are not nearly "smart" enough to do calculate even a single engagement. Logistics is easy if you have known and quantifiable metrics, combat is absouletely not that. You already have a cyberized Military-Industrial Complex, you need to do some serious investment into computers before you can seriously consider that. I mean... *gestures at current AI's simulating combat getting outcheesed by a skaven running back and forth.*

See also, a detection model meant to identify human enemies walking and running around being trivially defeated by cartwheels, crawling, bunnyhopping, and hiding under a cardboard box, because it was never trained to deal with those sorts of tactics.

Now you could use modeling to help the warplanner plan out and execute their plans but yeah. As of right now, technology is not at the point where we can have a computer system plan out and fight a conflict without human intervention/oversight reliably.

Comms. Batteries. Tech. Simple basic supply line stuff can win wars.

Also complicated stuff needs people so simple and boring but effective is powerful.

Using computers for logistics planning is about the limit, yeah. With some nice automation as well for things like autoloaders and targeting computers.

Point of order. ECM/ECCM is absolute boomer talk. These days the terms are:

There are now three terms to end the madness:
ESM (Electronic Support Measures): the suite of electronic warfare gear on your plane/ship/whatever
EA (Electronic Attack): things done to degrade/deny your enemy's ability to find/fix/track you, or things the enemy does to deny your ability to do the same
EP (Electronic Protect): things done to defend against hostile EA, or what the enemy does to defend against your EA

Imagine only having 2-3 letter acronyms for your stuff. SHM. 😔

Here in GLORIOUS GUANGCHOU we call these things LAIEGHTAMTBHs!

Okay, what is the expansion of that acronym?

Is it me who remembers badly or has it been several times that we forget to send athletes to the Olympic games?
I don't remember the Olympics being even mentioned, did they forget to send us an invite or something?

Egg throwing has been a national pastime since the carrier and the Olympics keeps on denying its a real sport so the population is boycotting it?

No, but I did. :V

Besides, this Quest is (now) about Automated Gay Mecha Communism, why bother about the Olympics?

1: Winning medals at the Olympic Games could increase the happiness of our population and produce gains in opinion and reputation.
2: Communist countries have historically participated in the Olympic Games, among other things, to promote communism.
3: To see the reaction of Americans to an openly lgbtq+ athlete who receives a medal would be hilarious.
4: We could potentially with great luck one day host the Olympic Games which would lead to economic, political gain and perhaps benefits in other forms.
5: This could motivate our population to a more healty and sporty lifestyle by providing an example.
6: Wasn't this one of the goals of creating school sports clubs?
7: Could be fun.

There is also the Universal Exhibition which could be interesting and have advantages.

On the other hand. The Olympics is EXPENSIVE to host. And the facilities needed for it may not have much use after the Olympics itself is over.
It is true that it is very expensive, if the possibility arises, it will be necessary to calculate the cost/benefit ratio to decide if it is worth it.
When instalation I think it's pretty common that it is reused after the games whether for what they were planned or another objective.

...well, damn, those are some good reasons as to why you'd bother with the Olympics.

Unfortunately, I am just a single person girlbossing updates at midnight with a fucked up posture, while my cat wonders why his homeboi stopped petting him, as I try to string together coherent sentences within my cookie brain for updates.

So most of that will end up only in the margins, at best, and won't have the time of day something like, say, a new initiative of good dental health will.

All of which means...roll for medals?
2D80 - Bronze
2D30 - Silver
2D4 - Gold

And I'll be reading up on the UE...sometime later.

Hosting the Olympic is worthless. Hard no from me on that.

Attending them is fine, I think we actually spent extra effort to support our competitive sports program when doing the education system. No sure if that would have any mechanical impact.

Isn't it over the past twenty years or so that the cost of hosting the Olympic Games has really drastically increased?
And that before that it was worth much more?
It is also necessary to take into account if it is the winter or summer games which are organized, those of winter are much less expensive.

Honestly, all we want from the Olympics is the implied crazy shit our team gets up to in the Village after their event. Because you know the Guangchou team is going to be popular back there.
