I'm still really impressed how me managed to scare the fuck out of a senior soviet diplomat. Good for him that we don't really need nukes to do what we want to do. Actually having nukes would make people far more weary of us.

I'm glad we scared him due to our ideological commitment and inflexibility. The world is sadly lacking in people who genuinely give a shit about the ideology they profess to be using so to see that be A Thing is a shocker.

Also I just go finished catching up after being new to this and I have to say I'm very say y'all didn't do red-black reconciliation after trying to call your manifesto the anarcho-communist manifesto. :VReally feels like a missed opportunity.

Some flexibility is necessary, just....
Most are flexible in a manner of whenever something inconveniences them, instead when it comes to better meeting the goal of said ideology...

Gotta keep something back for the sequel. :V

Mostly though political reform is schedueled for the fourth 5YP (the one after this one), so we're probably going to take it then and hope that it makes political projects cheaper.

Or are very good about being "inflexible" when it comes to "making concessions to the needs of the little people." Because when you're the kind of person who hacked their way to the top of the power structure, possibly literally, it becomes psychologically very easy to accept other people's suffering as the price of success.

The one, sole and solitary advantage I can think of for hereditary government (and make no mistake, our guy is effectively a hereditary ruler) is, well...

Frankly, just rolling the dice at random with a random privileged person and making them autocrat may result in a somewhat more mentally stable autocrat on average than you get from sheer Darwinian violence as your method of selecting the autocrat.

This isn't because hereditary monarchy is good. It's because Darwinian violence seems to favor the rise to power of some very, very fucked-up people, to the point where selecting leaders effectively at random, or effectively at random plus handicapping of their ability to govern imposed by privilege and nepotism, can get less-bad results.

A process which promotes the success of people willing to do anything to get ahead will invariably lead to the success of people who serve themselves at the expense of others.

A process which promotes the success of an individual towards good governance may lead to individuals who achieve good governance, until such time as the situation eventually devolves to the former process.

We want to not have it devolve to the former process.

Which, unfortounately is a fundamental problem.
'Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…'

Yeah we should look into democratising our nation soonish. Best we start it early and slow, so we can built something of a democratic culture instead of trying to force it through top down when it turns out our kids aren't necessarily the best to take over after us.

My sibling in Marx. We've already started building said culture. Look at the description of our school system.

Mind you, our democratic structures will likely be very different from what an average westerner would assume. Probably a lot of sortition, electronic direct democracy with fluid vote delegation, lots of public forums, etc.

None of this 'have an election every 4 years and call it the will of the people' nonsense.

Edit: The next big political thing I want to do is Soldiers' Councils, because that should tamp down on the possibility of military coups.

If and only if we can match the multiple cinematic endings of the original. My first exposure to the notion was Clue (1985) which would also be occurring soon, but Goncharov left you wondering just what was going to happen with Katya and the money.

Our next big movie should be Goncharov. :V

While I am not above plagiarizing being inspired by media from the past and present, I think that even with a Guangchuization you couldn't make the homosexual tensions and LGBTQ+ undertones of the movie come across as anything more than kitschy or force-fed ham if you tried to do anything but a 1-to-1 implementation.

Truly, the writers, especially Anderson, deserved better than what they got from the studio. :(
We lost masters of the craft with how they were treated.

Shit. Fuck!

Are we doing combined WW3/XCOM/Warewolves/Wolfenstein now?

I know Europe is fucking screwed and South America is probably absolutely infested with Nazi Mutants. How fucked we are is going to depend a lot on how badly America's early game money printer got hit.

Do we know how the presidential election went? Because I'm fairly certain at least Jimmy Carter isn't a nazi werewolf, but depending on how badly the rest of the apparatus is hit, the human factions might be down half of our production capacity.

And there's still the Healthcare crisis too. We barely have enough for ourselves let alone WW3.

Maybe the army can go and win honor and glory for themselves for once in their lives.

Pitosin Alexei Yakovich
What is a "Pitosin"? All I'm finding is "Pitocin", which is a synthetic version of oxytocin hormones.

If it's one of those cases where the surnames go last, Russians (and Soviet citizens by extension) don't write their names like that. If it's because he's a European in Guangchou who deliberately wrote his name in the local style, see above.
