On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Indeed. Though personally, I wouldn't be interested in putting those into the armor.

Oh no I wasn't saying put all the T5 materials we find into the armor. I was just saying that because there will be plentiful opportunities to create mythic weapons, armor, capes, banners and all manner of stuff. Though I'm exaggerating since it'd be more like we'd find a chance for a mythic tier material every 10 turns or more. A chance that is.

On the topic of T5 mats. I've noticed that we got the body of Kholek in our inventory, and it is considered t4/t5, so is anything else on him considered a T5 material? I know the heart isn't there anymore, but what about his hide.

Edit: I didn't read the comments after the chapter. Sorry if this was already discussed.

mmm...

Anyone else thinking we could make some fantastic armour for the KoS with these new runes?

I'm not sure which is better tho. Unyielding is the obvious one, blizzards to synergies with their innate frost power, or inferno to give them frost fire.

Again, I'm only comfortable selling one, maybe at most two Voidstones until we can ascertain whether we can get more and whether Voidstones are a requirement in higher tiers of Rune Metal research and creating other Master Runes. Three void stones feel like we are going overboard, and burning potentially irreplaceable resources.

Also, I fully agree with the alarming trend towards impatient short-termism that is emerging in this quest, and the growing tendency to trade time for irreplaceable resources that's emerging within this Quest Culture. Surely Snorri in character isn't as impatient as his recent choices seem to imply?
Giving the Brotherhood the smelter and enough voidstones to build several is extremely beneficial for the long term well bieng of the Karaz Ankor though. More adamant in circulation means that dwarven hero units are less likely to die.

Hey, @soulcake What would the point value be on, once a smelter is designed, having one built in Krakka Drakk to provide adamant to the north?

This is with the assumption that we're giving 6 points to design one in the first place.

On my side of the field as someone who has been pushing for more short term resolution of the hanging plotlines of the Greedy Heart and the King of the Skies Armor and the related Dragon Ogre research, its basically driven by a growing lack of investment in these two things. (Dragon Ogres is interesting in and of itself for obvious reasons otherwise, it just also counts as useful to this other thing I'm more meh about) Making them badly, i.e the Greedy Heart thing not ending up T5 or the King of the Skies armor not being T4 would be a blow and major disappointment but I don't share the same level of investment you or others might when it comes to the details anymore.

Other stuff? I'm primarily interested in clearing out our requests category, like we've done before aside from write ins and apprentice work, so we can get to research and apprentice teaching (And write in difficult requests using what we learn along the way) and otherwise like to take the patient route. Like finishing the Rune Metal chain in the next three centuries while plugging away at other things, as a loose example, or diving into Master rune research and then making stuff with the altered Runes.

I guess the question is what cooperation is needed. I feel members of the brotherhood would probably come north as even after the conclave the Runelords of the north will all be new and our experience is probably essential, so we'd have the prototype/first designed one in Karkka Drakk.

Not sure if someone has already said so but what happens if you push out the corruption on a chunk of warpstone. My idea is it would either take longer to "refine" or require a more powerful rune.

I don't think many have talked about it, but my expectation would be that it explodes extremely vigorously since Warpstone is the solidified form of corruption. There isn't really any purity in there to be found.

I brought it up, but that's the same conclusion i reached.

One thing i think it's really great is that the rune of purification is getting our name attached to it. Master Rune of Snorri Giftgiver XD

Also, can we put runes on non armored boots? Cos putting the rune of tireless on some comfy hiking boots seems like it would be a nice parting gift for master Yorri

Well, if we need the Voidstone to only make the smelters...then it doesn't make sense to hoard too much of it. Or do we need to use it for the major runes to work with Adamant too? Cause if the former then we really only need to keep enough pieces to research and help the Holds of the North make adamant forges themselves, other than that we can sell
I'm a little worried that we'll need more voidstone to progress the rune metal tech tree, possibly needing additional work there to create a more specialized purification rune or the like. Not really sure just seems like it'd be important for future gromril refinement steps.

[] Plan Void and Adamant Research
- [] Sell: Total 29+4 Base = 33
-- [] Take on [Simple] Request: A Better Smelter = 6 Points
-- [] Adamant Smelter Blueprint = 6 Points
-- [] The Master Rune of Snorri Gift Giver/Purification = 4 Points
-- [] 3 Voidstone = 9 points
-- [] 1 Adamant = 4 points
- [] Buy: Total 32
-- [] Master Rune of Infernos [Armour](More potent, but unshareable Pyrestrike), Cost 4 points
-- [] Master Rune of Blizzards [Armour](More potent, but unshareable Hailmantle), Cost 4 points
-- [] Master Rune of the Tireless [Armour](Bearer is Tireless and Minor Regen), Cost: 4 points
-- [] Master Rune of Unyielding [Armour](Bearer has Regeneration, Tireless and Steelskin), Cost: 6 points
-- [] Rune of the Tireless/ Strollaz's Rune (Increases endurance of formation), Cost: 2 points
-- [] 3 progress in Voidstone Research, Cost: 6 points
-- [] 3 Progress in The Secrets of Light, Cost: 6 points

Really like this plan, hope i can catch when the moratorium stops.

Alternatively it might push everything out of warpstone, leaving a void in the shape of a stone. A voidstone, if you will.

that's some fine thinking.... if this turns out to be true i hope you make a cameo in some form and you give the idea to snorri. The total facepalm would be hilarious....

True, which is why Oni's plan appeals as it only uses 3 pieces and we have the rest to save for research and maybe setting up another smelter or 2 in the North. Actually, if we limit ourselves to making them in the North to start (reasonable considering how distant the rest our imo) that would leave us using 2 *at most* for smelter making and that'd us with what, 5-6, for research of various fields, not including more we most likely will get one way or another.

Exxxxxxxxactly. We already have evidence they're all chunni nerds sooooooo...

Likelihood they have a secret volcano base with a pure gromril box hanging down into the caldera that they use for Dangerous Research approaches unity.
I kinda imagine them lowering the box into the volcano via the application of a very advanced fishing rod.

Though frankly given their Chunni ness I am very happy we're joining them.

While I'm all for snapping up everything they're offering, I'm a bit hesitant to spend the Voidstone. On the other hand, the only reason we didn't qualify as hording it was that there didn't seem to be a demand for it other then spending it on future research. Now that there is a demand, holding on to it is kinda going against the 'no hoarding materials' rule, as well as acquiring existing research by spending it so someone else can do research that we might be able to eventually acquire probably being more efficient than to spend it doing research.

Also, while I doubt Voidstone production is anywhere close to happening, if it's possible at all, we know enough about what circumstances lead to Voidstone forming to know where to look for more. Even without knowing everything, we know enough to check for, and within, deposits of obsidian left by demons dying in certain ways. If nothing else, we'll likely never run out of potential new sources.

If we do?
Mission accomplished.
