On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

"Knowledge has been given freely and without insult intended. Take it or dismiss it at your own discretion, as has ever been your right. Snorri Klausson, Runelord of Kraka Drakk, have you any final remarks?" He says, looking at you expectantly.
Well now, putting aside how this impacts us personally for a second, Thungni saying this so publicly has implications. A lot of the conflict, etc, between different runesmith and runelords comes from different interpretations of what they think is proper and what Thungni expects of them, and suddenly he's come down in a public way on the side of sharing information. This isn't a blanket approval, obviously, but he's nonetheless shown he's fine with those who choose to freely gift information to their peers- and at the same time, essentially delivered a gentle backhanded rebuke to those who would seek to suppress that (i.e. 'if you don't like it, just don't learn from them').

I wonder how this will affect the opinions of some of the more hard-core conservatives?

Probably interpret the statement "Knowledge's worth is determined by the one who has it/made it" and note that Thungi specifically rules out the intent to insult, allowing a case that a student then teaching someone a Rune which the creator would not have found worthy would be guilty of being insulting to the creator and thus worthy of censure.

Which basically means they're free to enforce their copyrights, but if someone else invents a rune they can teach it to whoever they bloody well please, unless the student is unworthy as a Runesmith, since in that case it insults the entire profession.

Snorri's approach has thus been made 'safe' because:
-He teaches any Master Runesmith, who are worthy by communal acclaim.
-He invented the rune.
-He invented the contraption.

However, if he say, learned a rune from Yorri, whoever he teaches THAT rune to has to math Yorri's standards.

Traditions have a purpose and the particular tradition of limiting sharing is probably due to the dwarf psychology tendency to seize upon insult in the smallest things and keep it forever. Limiting sharing is a way to make sure your rune inventing Runelords don't wind up Grudging half the Karaz Ankor for teaching people they don't deem worthy.

Shapely could be either Valaya or Slaanesh. No matter who of the two it turns out to be Snorri will be comforted. Either those two or an incredible in shape dwarf. Arnold Dworfenegger.

@soulcake Are we not also announcing our interest in teaching "Understand Valaya's Runes"? Or how is that mechanic going to work now that we are teaching 4 separate and unique runes?
I think Snorri still needs to sort out and set up the trial for that. Plus he'll be teaching those rune to journeydwarfs not masters so announcing it to runelords wouldn't be that helpful.
