[X] Try to dismiss Dawn, and resummon it in our hands
-[X] Failing that, punchisize his face for free and take Dawn back from his loosened grip. "I make my own luck."

The punch is for taking liberties by handling poor little Dawn, and a set-up for half-jokingly teasing him for manhandling such a young girl like that. ;)

We can do that, see if we fluster him, and in the same next vote clarify we're just messing with him... mostly. It also plays into Yumi's silly and defender sides.

Also gives Dawn an in-character (such as she yet has) reason to try figuring out a way to punish unapproved non-Yumi handlers herself in the future. :p

Sure, it makes us sound... silly, but if anyone's in a position to accept the unusual existence of a talking sword, it's probably Dante.

Thanks to the Shadow the Hedgehog fandub, I can't imagine the Devil without a New York Accent.

[X] Try summoning Dawn back to your hand. "Pretty sure that woulda killed me. The fuck?"
[X] Try summoning Dawn back to your hand. "What the hell is this bullshit? How much regeneration do you have?"

584: Dante, But A Third Time.
[X] "Give that back."

Your hand twitches, and you feel the familiar weight of Dawn again. Good to know that works. "I make my own luck." You say to him.

"...Neat party trick." Dante smirks at you, "But it's gonna take more than one good hit to end this fight. Let's say... Three? Sound fair?"

Just as you're about to retort, your phone buzzes. You look at Dante, who is currently twirling one of his pistols on his finger. "Hey, do you--?"

"Eh, I can wait." Dante shrugs.

You look at the screen, and see the contact listed as "Homu". You smile to yourself before answering. "He--?"

"Yumi, there's a man in a blue coat asking me about a Soul Gem." Homura cuts you off, "Explain."

"Blue...? You mean Vergil?" You ask, getting Dante's attention.

"I think so, I--" She pulls away from the phone, "I'm asking her. Be patient-- Will you let me talk to-- To Hell with this." There's a few seconds of silence, "You're on speaker, please behave."

"Yumi." Vergil greets over the phone, "This... "Grief Seed" is broken."

"What...? How is it broken?" Man, it's not even two o'clock and it's already been one Hell of a day.

"They're supposed to be needles with a black bulb in the middle, correct?"

"I... Yeah, why?"

"This one has no needle, and the bulb is a tangerine color."

[X] Plan Yumi.exe has encountered a problem
-[X] "What."
--[X] Press Vergil on how he got that Soul Gem to get him to explain.
---[X] Eventually note how Yumi has managed to get Soul Gems out of Witches before in the past using Light element spells.

Yumi knows light based damage dewitches Soul Gems but I'm not sure she'd have the information to get to that point without grilling Vergil for details and since Vergil and Dante's elemental Devil Arms probably aren't something she'd be aware of yet.

Yumi literally imbues her own weapon with elemental attacks. Sure, it's not the same thing, but the execution and result is the same.

I guess this is where we tell them Soul Gems are souls of (technically) living girls. By the way, does Dante learn Recarm in Nocturne?

[X] Plan That's a Soul Gem
-[X] "Before I answer your question, I'm going to have to ask what you were hitting that Witch with."
--[X] After he tells us about Beowulf: "That wouldn't happen to do Light elemental damage, would it?"
---[X] Explain the MG-to-Witch process (including the nature of Soul Gems), then explain how Light magic reverses Witchification and Vergil is now holding a Soul Gem

Did I miss anything?

The whole resurrection thing. Infact, my thought is to lead with that so he doesn't crush it

[X] Plan resurrection
-[X] Ah, a Soul Gem "That's because that's it's original form. However you killed the Witch purified it, I know it happens when I use light aspected magic. If either of you have a Revival Bead on hand, or can use the spell Recarm you can resurrect the person that was turned into the Witch. Fair warning, it's really flashy, and she'll be naked. I can give you a better rundown on their system later"
-[X] "I've got three Gems on hand if you'd rather a demonstration."
-[X] "Also, do you want me to pass on a message to your brother? He's right here."

And my other idea is to just have him come to us.

[X] Plan Come here
-[X] "It'd be easier for me to show you what it is rather than say on the phone."
-[X] "Also, do you want me to pass on a message to your brother? He's right here."

Edit: changing vote, since it was pointed out that Kyubey already broke the agreement.

[X] Plan resurrection

...should we instead tell him that dewitching de Witches makes Kyubey an angry dissatisfied little abomination? Or should we wait until Kyubey confronts us over the abrogated agreement... only for us to say "I do not understand... the agreement was for me to not do it again. And I was even generous enough to not ask anyone else to do it, either. How the turntables." Give it a taste of the medicine it serves to would-be megucas.

...eh, Kyubey's a smart terminal of a hivemind of the smartest dummies a meguca will ever meet, it'd probably notice the loophole usage on its own. Funny idea tho. Until it retaliates anyway.

Why would either of the DMC brother's care about what Kyubey thinks? They'll probably just kill the thing out of spite anyway. Also, genuinely antagonizing Kyubey is kinda bad for us cause we need the thing to stick around where we can keep an eye on it until we get enough hax to permanently kill/enslave it if we want to.

We should also add details about Kyubey, we are no longer on speak terms with the rat after all and without doubt Vergil converting the grief seed back to a soul gem, well, they have gained Kyubey aggro with it.

I did have the "I can give you a better rundown on their system later." If anyone has a better suggestion on how to tell him I can look it over in the morning.

Yeah, I really doubt the DMC Bros. going Kill Six Billion Incubator Bodies is going to do anything but make the hivemind grumble about inefficiencies and stay out of range. There's two of them at most, they can hardly be everywhere preventing contractings... and any attempt by them to de-witch Witches will starve the currently-existing Magical Girls.

Not to mention, get the Incubators turning megucas worldwide against us, given our association and informing Dante and Vergil of how the system works (and how to break it). Rule #2 of Megaten: There Is Always A Bigger Fish. Rule #3: If You Want To Kill A Protagonist, Pile On Bodies And Deny Healing/Resources/Save Points.

Them getting involved in such a direct manner, triggering the full-on counter attacking, sounds like a Bad Thing. The best outcome I can see, is the Incubators pulling out of Mitaikahara City for a while, which still ends with our Magical Girl friends starving for Grief Seeds and going through witchout->DIVINE STORM/BEOWULF->Revival without powers, which does not sound fun.

If you really think about it, Six Billion is actually rather underselling it. If it were just the six billion on Earth, I wouldn't mention it, but Kyubey's been doing this for billions of years and an unknown number of planets.

So, there's that whole issue. They probably make more, and I'm not 100% certain they have only one homeworld. It just worked when Akumura did it cause she was Universal+ in Madohax

Yeah, the thing about incubators is that to take them out you need to be able to damage the hive mind itself before they are able to cut contact with the affected body.

If you can manage that it is pretty much a domino effect.
