hmm is it Monarch using her power like how she was able to use Goldnine to dose the university district?

I can see that as why Ghost Triad and Monarch are working together.

The crystals are fragments of the Frozen Throne, which means, assuming there is a core, they chipped of bits of it.

Maybe they have an agreement with the throne itself? "We take bits of you, put them in others, and when they become monsters, we send them back to you to use"?

...oh shit. I think I have an idea. We know that direct contact with goldnine and pieces of the Frozen Throne cause mutual annihilation...but goldnine can be in the Frozen Throne's AOE without destroying it or being destroyed. We also know that there are people trapped in the Frozen Throne's AOE who can't leave. If the Ghost Triad has somehow come to an agreement with the Frozen Throne, then they could use it's AOE to make more goldnine by just letting it make more of itself within the AOE where the R-Train can't reach or sense it. They could be "paying" the Throne with potential people to sit on it.

I mean, this setup feels extremely brittle?

Like, they pulled this off because nobody had the time to look closely
But she got JU's shit together relatively quickly, before they were done.
To be fair, Justice Unlimited recovered insanely, absurdly fast. Literally only one of them survived, and even with Project Prometheus bullshit it still took us like 2 months to get to the level we have.

Under remotely normal circumstances, either any survivors should have folded into another team or it would have take LL months or years to find and vet new metas to join Justice Unlimited. And they'd be focused on putting out fires, not having the time to investigate this. And they got even more unlucky that the person who survived was Justice Unlimited's intel gal.

This is actually a decent setup, they just didn't know Justice Unlimited had some serious bullshit in their pocket.

Even THe philosophers were freaking the fuck out at how fast JU is recovering. Its why they made crusade and is using them as patsy for us reveal our cards yeh.

I Like it. THe problem with The boys and Worm is that they look down to much on people and heroes. Though TV series is better in that its more an evil corp just has monopoly on superpowers.

IF metahumans appear I really do think its a gonna a swing between people who are selfish and just using power for their own gain even when larping as superheroes and people genuine trying to be heroes even iff they arent perfect or fuck up.

"Okay, this next chapter is mostly taking, so it should be shorter than the last few—"

(outline is the longest yet)

How?
Leizi, making a REP check: Ok, pls pls pls believe me, I can be more, you can be more, no I'm not coping you are.
Leizi, making an ESP check: You make a good point. Unfortunately, I know where you live, where you sleep, where you bury your bodies, where you put all your secrets, where your deleted internet history goes, and where the ghosts of your dead childhood are.

Yeah ! They may have powerful members, but those are respectively a bunch of spoiled nepo babies who have never helped anyone, a bigoted abuser who also helped very few people, and some delusional kid working off stolen designs.
To clarify one point: only White Hawk is an actual Elysium native. We were told the Horae Guard were normal heroes who did well enough to get hand-picked to join Elysium's protection force, so Starlight Knight and Seraph have experience and are not nepo babies.

I just wanted to go Straight up Valiant Astrologian to acknowledge her parentage while also accepting she wasnt her mother.
I think the QM said something about not really liking hero legacies that much.

And to be honest, I originally wanted to give Nora psychic powers and a magical girl outfit, although that's kind of gone out of the window with her being revealed as opposed to the magical girls and very probably traumatised by them.

TBH Worm has plenty of decent people in it; it's just corrupt institutions shielded those that were shitty in a non-obvious way for the sake of not rocking the boat (which is something that happens IRL)

They decided to ditch any pretense of heroism to spend their life protecting the super-rich from well-deserved retribution.

They're not nepo-babies they're worse.

oh I'm not saying they're good, I was just stating facts.

trust me, if White Hawk shows up during the interview, I plan to have Handyman ask what White Hawk's parents do/own.

That was in terms of not giving Noelle her mothers powers. The fact shes Heavenly Astrologians daughter cant really be changed and unless noelle actually turns out to hate her mom there no point in denying the fact being a Hero means Noelle follows in her mothers footsteps.

I can see why we would go for another valiant name but owning up the connection is just as valid to me.

I mean even if she really loves her mom, children want to step out of their parent's shadow, y'know ?

I think Valiant Zodiac is a bit clunky, too. I'd rather go with Valiant Star if we want a name that combines the Heavenly Astrologian reference with the "Valiant" title.

And I really want to use the Valiant title. Having a hero on JU using a Valiant armour without the title would be tantamount to saying that Stockpile's theft of the name is legitimate.

On another note, have we ever figured out a decent combo using Automne's powers ?

Well, when it comes to EXCEED-BEYOND, we have a lot of possible names. Ones that are better than PREVAIL's.

So far, there's:
  • Valiant Star
  • Valiant Constellation
  • Valiant Zodiac
  • Valiant Black
  • Valiant Gold
  • Valiant Blue
  • And my favorite so far, Valiant Pyre. Y'know, since Prometheus and stealing fire.
Edit: Neo-Valiant also works.
I floated Valiant White or Valiant Gold a bit back, and I'm retracting White because that's part of Silvio's stolen name.
See I am vibing with Valiant Gold
For a couple reasons.
Gold nine is what makes it possible
In alchemy Gold was considered to represent the perfection of all matter, including the mind, spirit, and soul (while I don't believe in perfection, as a matter fact it is useful for naming & symbology)
In astrology Gold can represent the Sun which I think helps honor the legacy of Heavenly astorsin if we do use that particular candidate
& I don't remember where I read this but this also has been rattling around my brain
"Gold represented the light that rises from the darkness, giving force to the elements and intellect of mankind."
The US also has some top-shelf metahumans of their own, but they keep them stateside for obvious reasons. You might meet some one day!
*realizes what this could mean in context of what has happened so far*

Oh no bro we could be in danger

But that raises even further questions, because some very brilliant minds have given up on doing anything about that, so how did these chucklefucks find a reliable way of going through it? And apparently repeatedly?
"Give me a place to stand and could move the earth "
Imo I think it's fairly simple to imagine that a portal user could do it

That would suggest they know exactly what the threshold is for the R-Train to notice, and that's Concerning in itself, because the R-Train is very heavily incentivized to obscure the exact degree of how much gets their attention.

Like, I don't see how they can get this much goldnine without the R-Train's tactic approval of the operation at a minimum, if this isn't straight up the R-Train backing this in the first place. The only alternative would be that they can freely come and go through the Frozen Throne, which they effectively use as a smuggling route to get past the R-Train, and that... Uh, that's a feat just as ridiculous as getting past the R-Train in the first place, if not moreso. And that raises the question again as to "How the fuck did anyone pull this off when everyone else who drops in there is never seen again?"

Umm actually 🤓 we know that Teleporters have free reign in coming in and out of there thanks to Back Issue #7, together with the fact that dimensional spaces can interact independently with the Frozen Throne thanks to Baba Yaga.

So if we combine what we all know then the theory should be that Monarch is using the Frozen Throne as an inbetween place for her to safely smuggle goldnine from R-Train while in return the Triad pays her in assets and cash.

Teleporters dont actually have free reighn only strong ones since the Throne kills any teleporter who enters ever since Memoria saved Nox from becoming a Sovereign.

I think we really need to go all out on Monarch next turn, as much as we can. (At least one of the missions promised to New Dawn, and the Fellowship)

Crusade is already on the scene for the Shroud case, can't have them stealing our thunder.

I hope the intel collection goes well.

QM said its why Memoria never went back to throne and save other people trapped there. When we asked if we could save people trapped in the throne using teleports.

Baba Yaga cheats since she basically creates her own space inside the throne that cant be accessed.

Ahhhh you're right. Can't believe I didn't read that properly (^~^;)ゞ.

There a lot of people still there. The issue is that the Throne's spacial warping powers means only the strongest teleporters can get someone out. And if they, like Memoria, ever went back the Throne would kill them instantly to prevent them from doing just what you suggest. It's why Marcos never went back.

I'm not against it. Assuming all goes well, we'd have 8 AP next turn. I do agree with going for at least one of the New Dawn missions next turn. I'd also recommend going for either Yara or Noelle next turn too right away. Prooobably Noelle first if all goes well with securing that goldnine supplier. We'd also have 1 AP to spare with Demon Flamez costing only 1, meaning we could do either Making the Rounds or Pest Control. That is, assuming Bitterman doesn't increase their cost next turn just to give himself some wiggle room and give us hell. Puella Magi could cost 1 AP in its next mission as well, but I highly doubt it.
