Its is always interesting how everytime gun training is discussed in story, chat always gets flooded with safety rules.
Anyway, nice bit of character interaction and Alchemist seems slowly but steadily moving towards becoming a terminator. BTW what would fuel his new shiny body? Somehow i dont think that usual food would be enough and soulgem is just for housing of his soul. We would all be immortal if it was possible to power out bodies with our own souls.

It's a lot to do with how we're trained in firearm safety. Rather than just instructed a few times and maybe given a paper test, it's dogmatically drilled into a lot of us.
Mostly because, well, I think it's the idea that if we're not afraid of a gun, we're not respecting it and the risk it carries.
So when it's brought up, even in passing, we remember what we were taught and told with a surprising amount of clarity and force.

When I get into arguments with my family about guns I use this same statement but apparently, it's the person that handed them the gun fault that it was loaded and not their fault for pulling the trigger and putting a hole in the wall.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I would argue both are at fault there.
Thankfully, it sounds like nobody was actually hurt. And at least one of you had a learning experience.
Definitely wouldn't trust your family with anything as dangerous as a cap gun in the future though.

More seriously. T-800. It's stable and provides a solid base to upgrade from. And if you have to deal with the programming aspect, the T-800 has shown the capability to evolve beyond its original parameters.

Although Arnie's T-800 was able to gain sapience given time. He could make and appreciate art and music for example. He sometimes had trouble with social interactions but he was alive.
Although I hated the Dark Fate plot line and characterizations. Arnold and Hamilton were the only saving grace of that film. Furlong and Schwarzenegger had better on screen presence. The angry woman who verbally abused everyone trying to help was the wrong way to portray a strong woman.
Sigourney Weaver and Hamilton are how you portray strong females in action films. Nichelle Nichols, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and so 9n and so forth. These are how you show strong women. Dark Fate was a joke.

Nice chapter, but what kind of crappy bank is Alchemist using? You should never be able to log in to an account by simply clicking on the stored link or bookmark! This should only get you to the login screen where you would have to provide a two-factor authentication. None of the info should be stored in the browser.

I find it hilarious the contracted healing mage is one of the most deadly and effective assassins in the setting and he's on the Justice League payroll. Although he spends his time pretending to be an insane hermit, with a penchant for Disney Princess style song and dance routine, with Toad Curse happy, itchy, hair-trigger fingers.

Because all of us who have dealt with firearms have horrors stories of how...I want to say careless but I think STUPID is the more appropriate word, people can be with firearms.
Yea, since my daughter was old enough I knew she could follow instructions I've made sure to give her semi regular refreshers on gun safety, she knows how to get into my safe if it's an emergency, but she also knows the world damn well better be ending if she opens it.
Just so people don't freak out, I know someone will, we live seriously out in the boonies, couple times a year I see mountain lion on our property, and every other we have bear passing through, and even then most of my firearms are from my old job. Knowing about guns is like knowing about a knife, a dangerous tool but a tool none the less, just less discriminate if used improperly.
Personal experience, stupid comes in all tax brackets, just when you have to shoot your food growing up you probably have a better idea about gun safety.

So she likely has a few hundred thousand. Unless she had a penchant for selling tech to foreign governments. Scientists don't usually break six figures unless they go into top secret research for the government or are have parlayed research into lucrative patents.

Empty breech, the safety is on and the magazine is on the table where I can see it. My neighbor shot his cat when he tried to clean his brand new Mossberg. I think he's going senile, how do you forget to unload a gun and check the breech when you clean?

Because after a while you forgot to do things and the longer you do them the more you forget.
like driving for example. You're ALWAYS supposed to check after piece of your car before and after moving and over time you stop doing those things because they either take too long or my favorite thing people say when you leave "Eh. It can last another day/week. I'm just going to get some food." then end up using that same day/week you had left.
As humans, we forget shit the longer it lasts. Looking around my house right now there is a CO2 detector I forgot I bought 2 years ago that no longer works because I forgot to put new batteries in it... Let me get to that before I die sleeping.
