Thanks for another awesome update!
I don't suppose you'd do an interlude with the local justice league?
I very much want to see more of their freak out about Alchemist.
Got to love those (possibly unintentional) Family Guy references."...Dad?" Yuffie asked as she lowered her ice-cream. "That book is screaming."
"It's just air escaping."
I would argue that the fact she is from Gotham makes her more vulnerable to them rather than less. And it's the perfected version of the itemshe grew up in Gotham... She should be use to horrifying cognitohazard stuff by now.
Good to see Alchemist trying to train player one (Tiffany) how to be more than a muscle brain... That said, I'm kinda curious...
How is Tiffany so affected by the item perfected necronomicon? I mean... Excluding the gamers mind system (which I can't remember if it's recovered from tiamat tiamat-ing), she grew up in Gotham... She should be use to horrifying cognitohazard stuff by now.
Those are two entirely different franchises. The Necronomicon originally came from HP Lovecraft, and this particular one was from Wild Arms. Klaatu Barada Nikto is from The Day the Earth Stood Still. There is a movie where the phrase is used to close a portal created by the Necronomicon, but even then it isn't a passphrase for use.Well sure, your regular old every day Necronomicon is probably sitting in a magazine rack at a dentist office in Gotham and comes across as banal and trying too hard. What she got was a perfected version that had all of its flaws killed. Considering that, it seems very possible that she isn't hallucinating and eyes really would (attempt to) eat her in her sleep.
Shame she forgot the words of power before opening the thing or she'd have been fine. Klaatu barada nikto and such.

I mean, it was? The others never read the book, because it was busy being burnt. Alchemist was fine, Player One was gibbering, only one of them is SUPPOSED to hoard secrets and eldritch knowledge.Honestly, I just assumed that Tiffany's reaction to reading the book was the normal and correct response, and Alchemist was the weird one.
...Considering, you know... Void Dragon, Eldritch Knowledge, etc.
Her problem isn't that she is a muscle brain it's that she isn't enough of a muscle brain. Alchemist chose magic as his main skill and then started deepening and widening his knowledge and ability until he got where he is now. Being a muscle brain is a completely fine path to take - just look at Hulk or even better Flex Mentallo - you just need to apply yourself properly.Good to see Alchemist trying to train player one (Tiffany) how to be more than a muscle brain...

For example if Tiffany supplied her melee combat with D&D and Pathfinder combat disciplines she could do things like punch through adamantium, throw people two hundred times in a row and other such fun things. She has some decent stats but doesn't have the endgame to which she would try to maneuver her opponents and bury them there.
EDIT: And then she could layer additional passive and active "muscle brain" abilities on top of all of that ad infinitum.

Honestly, I've kind of come around to Tiffany since I last really thought about her. I still don't really like her, but I do have to admit she seems like she's grown some as a person, and that's good to see.
She still.. doesn't quite get the kind of world she lives in though.
Also, completely unrelated, but what is going to happen to the dragon egg Jinx got from FF-7 when all the dragons pounced on the pair to greet them? That was a long time ago and seems to have been forgotten by the characters. Which is fair given the Cave of Wonders beating they took at the end there after that, but just something I noticed on my recent reread.
That's how you stop robots. You want "Klaatu verata niktu" because Sam Raimi didn't want to get sued for using the line from 1951s The Day The Earth Stood Still.
I'm pretty sure it's Clamtoo Burrito Niktu. I've got a good memory for these things. That's how you stop robots. You want "Klaatu verata niktu" because Sam Raimi didn't want to get sued for using the line from 1951s The Day The Earth Stood Still.
