Funny story about 'genderbend'...

Edit: No but seriously, she was originally a he but the author thought he didn't have enough female characters so he got turned into a she, also as someone with conceptual frog powers, she may or may not have the power to revert back to a he.
Might be somewhat amusing to come up in random MHA fic. Something like: Tokage chose the movie for mixed-class movie-night. Of course, it was a dinosaur movie. A line comes up about an occurrence in some amphibians, and everyone turns to look at Tsuyu.

An sure way to get Midoriya back would be to train Eri until she can rewind his body to before he got killed and isekaied into.

Its a ridiculously long time limit as Eri was shown to be able to rewind adults to before they were born.

Of course, there may be faster ways, but at least theres a relatively concrete way to do it.

*says there going to have a brake * haHA the plotbunny of Caerbannog returns

Being relatively fair- I don't have work thanks to the holidays and I don't have much to do most days because it's heckin' cold outside. You guys are getting these BNHA segments pretty much hot off the presses, they're going up simultaneously across all three sites I post to. I still take a bit of time to clean them up but more errors and mistakes are getting through than normal because they're coming up so quickly.

Honestly I think your MHA could be Spin-Off of Project Gamer. Its pretty good and could be like a short story posted separately after you finish the crossover. Its pretty good. :):):)

Sooooo is Tsu the MHA version of Kaldur then? Genderbend and all?

Thank you! I really appreciate that!

As to the parallels between Tsuyu Asui and Kaldur? A little bit yes and a whole lot no.

Kaldur is a well-practiced magic user that benefits from natural electricity generation capabilities via adoption of eel characteristics and utilizes his magic minimally to greatly augment his weapons.

Tsuyu Asui is a girl with significantly more obvious mutations that make her resemble a frog (Somewhat) with major weaknesses to natural phenomenon due to it.

She dehydrates rapidly in environments that Kaldur would have no troubles with, for example.

A dramatic difference that Alchemist would likely greatly appreciate is that the girl doesn't bother with subtlety or doublespeak. At all. She says what's on her mind, nothing more or less.

She's not stupid, far from it, but she is rather simple. Which makes her either very easy to write or incredibly difficult to write, based on the author's own mindset.

Hm... it seems like BNHA Alec has had potentially months or years erased from his memories. It certainly sounds like his pocket dimension grew out a lot and Jinx moved in with him and Kary, which given this site implies this is set after she turned 18.

The lack of mention about like, the dog bowls or whatever, only mentioning things related to the girls unless I missed it, is somewhat concerning though.

I know at least one Tsuyu SI where that is explictly the plan. And I do mean explicit, as it's on QQ in the NSFW section, so no link, but if you want to look for it it's Phibious by KinKrow. A little neglected at the moment as he's been concentrating on a different fic, but KinKrow's track record is relatively decent at getting back to such WIPs eventually, as fanfic authors go. Go ahead and check it out as long as you aren't somewhere that it would put you at risk of legal problems (Canada and the EU, I think?) just having it in your browser cache, because it's not actually all that lewd at present and very much a fun read as a superhero adventure.

Easily solve, set a wall with padded foam, mattresses and pillows and teddy bears

have Eri rewind alchemist with that wall of her back

set glyph of warding to Push her away when the caster looses concentration, she lands in the pile of pillows unharmed

her quirk doesn't undo healing normally, so there is no danger

besides, he wasn't dead beyond what alchemist could heal already

Problem with that is I dont think rewind is based of time in contact.

From what i understand, Its more like upcasting spells in higher slots to get a bigger effect, and that since Eri cant control her powers, initially It's cast at a random level, and its only later when she learns to dial the level which she uses.

But yeah, a mechanistic triggered interruption sounds like an ingenious way to control duration of exposure effects.

Again, there is a ridiculous amount of things he can do with Wish including forcing himself to calm down, help Eri to temporary gain control of her Quirk and much more.

But I completely understand the freakout train is not gonna stop any time soon.

"Yes, and I appreciate that." Yagi said as he reached over and took the bloody photo out of Mirai's hands. "But now I have to wonder something far worse; What is Alec doing with a young, severely abused child? And why would he go through so much difficulty for her?"
The fact that they can't seem to recognize that he might have saved her out of altruism is...very sad, and upsetting.

Alchemist had known the Valley of Defilement wasn't going to treat him well before he'd gone in. He knew that whatever choice he'd have to make at the end was going to hit him hard.

Ceremony wasn't a particularly high level spell. Actually just a level one spell.

Wish, though, treated any spell cast through it as though it were a ninth level spell. The additional power, the flexibility had helped immensely in allowing him to combine multiple facets of Ceremony together into one greater ritual.

It had still taken hours for him to lift each accursed spirit, let the Naming ceremony push him to find the right name for them and then offer them to Dee as part of the Funerary aspect.

The Endless was probably the only reason he'd managed to push through and complete the Ceremony. Each time she'd accepted one of the hungering souls, her face would light up and she'd coo at them. Whispering their name, telling them she'd been waiting so long for someone to set them free.

Ceremony was possibly the weakest spell that dealt with Fate in any way. It let people have just a little bit of insight into what was supposed to be, what could've been and allowed them to impart a bit of their own truth into it. It let parent find the Right name for their child, those married under its influence would often find that they struggled together rather than individually. It could allow a creature to Atone, to return to its original alignment.

And those buried under its Funerary aegis were immune to being risen as undead, at least for a few days.

Drastically empowered and with a patron at his shoulder, accepting the departed?

The pool of filth in the Valley had been crystal clear when he'd finally stumbled out of it.

He hadn't had any words left for Astraea or her knight after the hours he'd spent, knee deep in water and offering what little empty comfort he could for creatures that probably only understood his tone of voice rather than any words he had. Instead, Alchemist had held out two books. Cure, from Final Fantasy Two and Esuna from Final Fantasy Twelve. Both of which he'd enchanted with Comprehend Languages, ensuring the words could be read by anyone that wasn't illiterate.

Garl had taken them. Astraea had tried to say something but Alchemist wasn't... He was listening, sure, but he hadn't really heard her. He'd stared at the woman until she'd offered him the glowing orb of faith that would have been the core of her Pure-Blood Demon Soul.

Taking it in hand, he'd just kept staring. He just wanted her to leave. To take her dog with her.

Astraea had figdeted under his gaze for a long moment before pushing a ring into his hands and scampering off, Garl at her side. Alchemist watched them retreat, watched the lizard people follow after her like ducklings after their mother.

When the only sounds left had been the running water? He'd let the knot of disgust, loathing and horror that had been weighing down his very soul loose.

The roar of a dragon's unchained fury had chased the fallen maiden and her knight out of the heart of the swamp at a hurry. Lacking anything to fight, any easy way to vent the suffering he'd seen and struggled to deal with, he couldn't bleed that out. Not easily. Not quickly.

He'd just had to swallow it all down and try to push forward.

From there, he'd taken a few days. Time he needed to decompress, time he needed to process everything.

He wasn't weak. He wasn't helpless. He'd seen that foul, vile place and done something-

But that didn't assuage the fury, deep inside, that raged and screamed that he'd had to do so because the only other person willing had been a saint. And even then she'd only been willing, or at least able, after she'd discovered her god had secretly been a demon all along.

He'd taken the time to work on several other projects, keeping his hands busy to prevent his mind from cycling over the issue over and over again. His first project?

Alchemist had made a cane as a kind of intermediary step towards another accessory. He'd taken the Threaded Cane, a trick weapon purchased from the world of Bloodborne through the Game Shop that could turn into a barbed whip and fused the various wands he'd purchased.

~~ Trick Cane ~~
~~ Useful as a bludgeoning weapon in its base state, this can be converted into a barbed whip through a clever mechanism.
Allows the wielder to modify some spells with the effects of: Empower, Maximize, Extend, Merciful and Selective up to three times for each effect.
Only one effect may be applied per spell. ~~

Alchemist had no intention of trying to add yet another weapon to the list he needed to learn. Rather, he'd made it for the sake of giving it to Giovanni.

Then, with a bit of work, he'd gone on to work that and the Arch-Spellcaster Jewel's effect, after removing the defense penalty, into a necklace. To that he'd also included the ring Astraea had... Bribed? him with.

~~ Amulet of Arcane Potency ~~
~~ INT and WIS X2, MP/2, White Magic Power +50% but Spellcasting time +10%, Allows the wielder to modify some spells with the effects of: Empower, Maximize, Extend, Merciful and Selective up to three times for each effect.

His was shaped like a two dimensional, angular dragon face made of darksteel. He'd crafted one for Jinx made of adamantine and the one he'd crafted for Kary was shaped like a serpent's face and made of a different material he'd purchased off the shop. A kind of material known as Abyssal Bloodiron.

Neither had put them on, which was understandable. The amulet did come with some deficits to offset the bonuses.

"What are you working on?" Jinx's voice broke him from his thoughts, just out behind the workshop.

"Hi, Jinx." Alchemist stopped for a moment to wave at her, then waved to what was in front of him.

A large orb with a series of smaller orbs set equidistant around it. The entire module was made of darksteel and held closed with a series of oversized nuts and bolts.

"It's the mana condenser I made for the Core Crystal of the Incorruptus. I was just about to start cracking it open." A job that had actually proven far harder than he'd anticipated.

He'd tightened it down as much as he could back when he'd placed the seed materia in it. Any leakage would slow the process down.

Of course, that was back before he had an absurd amount of magic or so much mana regeneration that his Holmcross drawback didn't matter.

Transmutation didn't actually have the ability to relieve the pressure without trying to bore a hole in the darksteel. Something that was slow, difficult and seemingly only possible because he'd been the one to make it.

Experiments performed over the last few days had shown that anything he made of darksteel, Jinx couldn't manipulate. Equally, anything she made out of darksteel, he couldn't alter or change.

Conversion could have worked... But the object had enough pressurized magic inside of it that he was worried things might explode if he didn't take things slow.

"So... You have a pipe and a giant wrench?" Jinx pointed to the two tools he'd gotten for this particular job.

"A giant wrench and a cheater bar, yeah." He tried to explain. "I just need to crack the bolts loose and let it vent for a bit before I really get into it."

"...This is going to go really wrong, really fast." Jinx sighed and looked at what he was about to work on. At the wrench hooked to one of the nuts and the three-meter pipe supported by both of his floating gauntlets. "I'm gonna put up a few walls of force, okay?"

"That's... Actually a really good idea." Alchemist hadn't even thought of that! "Here, let's make a few that go all the way around and leave just enough room between them for the tools to get through."

"Y'know? I used to think you were always really concerned about safety." Jinx started to say as she began to set up the walls along the ground while he worked on the walls that were hovering a bit over them. "But you never seem too worried about getting hurt yourself. What gives?"

"Learned behavior." He admitted, readjusting himself at the end of the pipe. It was much easier to balance when it could rest on the invisible wall. "Places I've worked at were always really big about hitting our quotas. Safety wasn't a concern until after someone got hurt, then they'd throw a fit. Get some of the office dunces out to complain at us, slow us down, start hurting the bottom line and then tell us to go back to what we were doing to speed things up."

"...That's terrible." Jinx shook her head and stepped back as Alchemist grunted and pushed the bar, fighting to break the bolt loose. "How often did people get hurt?"

"Daily!" Alchemist nearly fell over when the bolt spun. Red liquid began to spray out from the now loosened seam. "Broken hands, sprains, trips and falls. Nobody followed the safety rules, not even the guys paid to enforce 'em. Once they hit their quota on write-ups, they'd disappear to their own office and leave us alone."

"That's not normal, is it?" Jinx asked him as he began to move around to another bolt.

"Oh, absolutely. I've been scoping out some of the Lexcorp production facilities and they're operating the same way. Waynetech is a bit better but that's probably because upper management is more willing to fire middle management instead of cutting off their feet." And hadn't that been an eye-opener?

Alchemist had never worked for a company that actually knew that it wasn't the office personnel that were building their products.

"I was actually talking about the bolt unscrewing itself." Jinx said as she began to back away, placing another Wall of Force directly in front of herself.

"Huh." Alchemist stared as the bolt he'd loosened was, indeed, unscrewing itself.

Then he cast Stop on it, freezing it in place.

"Neat." He'd known it was going to be under a lot of pressure, but he'd only ever seen that kind of thing in movies!

Of course, that had widened the gap that the liquid magic had been trickling out of. Now it was a solid stream, jetting out of the seam and spraying crimson fluids all over the Wall of Force that had been placed in front of it.

"Should we do something about that?" Jinx asked him, leaning forward and placing a hand on her personal blast shield until her nose was pressed against it.

"Honestly? That's perfect." Alchemist admitted, dropping his tools to the ground. He'd need to finish up later after all. "Now it'll bleed off pressure and I can just get back to it later, when it's done."

"...Were you planning on this?" Jinx asked him after a long moment spent looking between the condenser and him.

"...I didn't even have a plan to safely open the thing." He admitted, honestly ashamed with himself. "I tend to have a general idea and I work out the details as I'm going along."

"How have you survived this long?" Jinx shook her head, worry in her voice.

"...I'm pretty good at thinking on my feet?"

-----

A few days had quickly turned into a week.

Not that Kary was complaining. She, Jinx and Alchemist still got out from time to time to go back to the Shrine of Storms. The skeletons reassembled there, once every day. The group had stayed there one night and watched the process happen.

Right when the moon was at its highest point in the sky, the various disassembled bones and scattered pieces of equipment would all start to roll together. Shifting and shuffling until the appropriate pieces had all been put together and then slowly assembling from the bottom up.

It had been a good opportunity for Jinx to practice her combat spells. Afterwards? Alchemist had finally done something she'd been waiting on.

He'd finally decided to tamper with the divide between life and death!

It... Really wasn't surprising. She'd known he could, she'd been well aware that he had the spells to resurrect an unclaimed soul. And considering that he literally held the souls of some of the old monsters in his own hands?

There was nothing that could contest his efforts.

He'd resurrected the Old Hero in the courtyard of the keep atop the shrine with one Wish, then used Wish again to burn off some of the corrupted hero's resurrection sickness.

Nearly fifty-thousand GP in diamonds... Was really a paltry investment considering the return had been close to half a million after all of the multipliers had been factored in.

She was closing in on her level cap faster and faster! She was eager to reach the same tier as Alchemist and Jinx!

Eager to shed the skin of an Imp. She enjoyed the body, immensely so, but... She wasn't as naiive as Alchemist seemed to worry. Or as much as she'd led Jinx to believe.

Teasing the dragon into explaining things had been, possibly, the most amusing use of her time since they'd come to this world. It also kept the girl from getting trapped in her thoughts, from swinging wildly between fear and fury in pursuit of her revenge.

That was how they'd spend their time training in the mornings. They would return to the Shrine of Storms and Jinx would push through the gauntlet, hunting the reanimated undead. Then, once she'd finished, the girl would return to the surface where Kary had been running Alchemist through weapons drills.

He was reasonably good with a spear, actually. The weapon was rather forgiving, yes, but it also relied heavily on knowing the appropriate time to strike, to thrust. He was also practicing knife and swordwork at her instruction.

It was actually rather nice. He helped her with spellwork, she pushed him with weapons and the two of them came away from the exchange greater than they'd been before.

Moving on- Once Jinx returned, Alchemist would resurrect the Old Hero demon and either Jinx or Kary would work on defeating it. Several days into their practice, once the both of them could defeat the beast quickly and easily by themselves, a new measure of difficulty was added to the mix.

Alchemist resurrected two at a time.

That had been significantly more complicated. Even as the monsters were blind, the duplicates were capable of working together. Their usual tactics of keeping distance and blasting them with magic still worked but they had to keep on the move, keep from getting caught.

It was actually a lot of fun!

Afterwards they would return to the demi-plane. To their own projects. Jinx had seemed to take Kary's words to heart, the girl had found a purpose to follow. She'd used one of her quest tickets to purchase a massive collection of scrolls, written in a language that would have seen most driven mad.

Netherese.

The Nether Scrolls. All fifty of them. Kary had been waiting for Jinx to finish with them so she could read them herself. She'd never actually seen one in person!

The deepest, most fundamental truths of magic...

Well, it made Kary feel rather shallow that she'd been considering using her remaining tickets while she'd looked at swords.

"Are you nearly finished?" And then there was her beloved. The man had been working continuously on his giant suit of armor.

"Almost." He responded, sending her a greasy thumbs up.

They were inside the demi-plane, though outside the workshop. The space was simply too small for him to work on the near-complete monstrosity.

He was buried elbow deep in the chest of the machine, Kary was actually standing atop another piece of the darksteel skeleton of the thing and watching as he put it together. He'd placed a giant red orb into a housing deep within, and around it she'd seen eight sets of paired Materia slots.

Sixteen in total. Twice what she'd been expecting. He had another set of eight paired slots embedded in the left arm and hidden under the armor.

He'd been more than happy to explain what he was doing as he'd worked. In the arm, he'd embedded his combat Materia. The debillitation-laden Lich was combined with Added Effect as well as a Destruct Materia combined with Added Effect.

His fists would destroy magic and leave whatever he struck heavily impaired.

A black Meteor Materia was connected to a Quadra Magic. He'd admitted having thoughts about tacking a second one in with one that would increase the cost even further while making the spell itself up to fifty percent stronger.

A green Materia called Energy, which fired off tracking balls of pure magic, was connected to another Quadra magic.

That had taken up eight of the sixteen arm slots he'd manufactured.

Four more were taken up by a pair of Darkness Materia, one connected to a Steal As Well Materia whilst the other was attached to Added Cut. It was also the first time Kary had watched Alchemist fuse something into a Materia that wasn't more Materia. Into one of the Darkness, he'd fused an enchanted token that made it heal him for thirty percent of the damage it inflicted.

That left four slots open. He filled them with an Experience Plus, a Gil Plus, a Dualcast and, finally, a Pre-Emptive.

"I thought you were only going to use eight of the Attribute Plus Materia in this thing." Kary admitted as she watched him slot the first generation orbs into place in the chest cavity.

"If this thing were smaller, I might've been forced to use only eight." He agreed. "Instead it's more than big enough for me to have two complete sets in it. Sixteen is the limit for any one kind of Materia, though."

"...How did you find that out?" Kary asked as he began the slow process of fusing copies of his equipment and accessories into the purple orbs.

"In the game these came from? There were a whole lot of these really complicated strategies for fighting the end-game bosses. Especially the super bosses, planetary weapons." Not just his equipment, Alchemist also extracted several Shards and a handful of diamonds. "Thing is? All the work that went in to making them? A person could master a boat-load of basic Counter materia and load up sixteen of them on to one character."

"...That seems disturbingly simple." Kar'Yashlan's tail waved back and forth as she considered what he said. Her beloved did tend to be like that at times, then at other times he would overcomplicate things instead.

"It is." He admitted. "It runs into its own problems, sure, but overall it's actually really easy."

Aside from fusing in his equipment to the orbs? Alchemist had also added Shadow Tracer and Standstill, though not to the same orb. Another had consumed a copy of the Flash Belt he'd made, transferring the Accelerator shard into it.

One had a series of spells fused into it, Protect, Shell and Repair. Offering significant amounts of defense and durability. Kary wasn't sure it was even necessary given he'd forged the skeleton and armor of the machine out of Darksteel.

The one he'd fused the boots and belt into also had Expeditious Retreat increasing his base movement speed, Overland Flight offering limited flight, especially with the mech's size, and Freedom of Movement to ensure he wouldn't be bound or otherwise impeded.

The orb that consumed a copy of his helmet also had a pair of Shards fed into it. Deep Sinker, allowing the mech to move normally underwater, even actually being stronger underwater! Combined with it had been Amphibian Movement, speeding it up and even causing it to regenerate when underwater.

"So, how long does it take for you to kill those bosses with that kind of setup?" Kary asked as she watched him set the final Materia in place.

"Usually about eight minutes. Ten or so for the one that cheats with invincibility." Alchemist answered her absentmindedly as he placed the chest plate in place and began to bolt it on. "Most of the time is actually wasted on the animations."

"...Do you think you'll actually have to use that thing?" Kary enjoyed weapons. A lot. But she still recognized that escalating like this could bring about its own, very serious, problems.

"Eventually, yeah." He sighed and turned to look at her, grease stains on his clothes and face. "If we have to fight the gods of Olympus to get to Zeus, they might have a few of their ancestors bound and ready to throw at us. If Darkseid and his parademons invade, either because of the Light or his lesser gods on Earth throwing a fit? This thing might buy us some time."

He rapped on the chest plate with the back of his knuckles.

"Not much time, they can hit the entire planet all at once, but it should offer me enough of a leg-up to fight their lesser gods and infantry." He tried to offer Kary a smile but it failed halfway through. "At the least it'll be useful for Boletaria once we get moving again. They have a giant knight of their own..."

"And he's got a really nice shield I'll be taking."

-----

Jinx felt... Not better.

She was physically tired and exhausted. On the emotional side of things? The bubbling anger, shame, envy and fear had all been replaced with numbness.

Not because she was burnt out or anything to that effect. It was a side effect of the exhaustion.

Alchemist, the bastard, had run her through the gauntlet against the skeletons again. And he'd thrown in a lot of other monsters, too. Abyssal Guardians had been a personal favorite of his, the giant black dragons that would fire rays of darkness from their mouths or coat their claws in black flames.

The only weapon she'd been allowed to use? It wasn't the very nice, very fun Storm Ruler that would fire off giant wind blades or summon lightning. No, he'd given her a simple straightsword he'd called the 'Blueblood Sword' and said he'd be watching!

Complaints aside, the hilt had actually felt good in her hands. It felt... Right.

The gauntlet ended on the rocky shore at the base of the shrine where Alchemist pitted her against a different demon. Instead of the Old Hero, he'd resurrected the Flame Lurker. A giant, agile beast of screaming, melted flesh and living flames.

Every time she'd thought it was over? The asshole just resurrected it again! He kept doing it, over and over again until Jinx physically couldn't keep going. The demon had been boring down on her and she hadn't been able to lift her sword again, that was when Alchemist had finally called it quits.

He'd frozen the demon solid with a single spell, killing it once more.

Her legs had burned. Her arms screamed at her. She was tired, drained and while she did have a runner's high she also felt emotionally empty.

"You alright?" Alchemist, the bastard, asked her as he approached.

Jinx answered by falling back and landing on her butt, too tired to stand.

"Okay. Guess not." Alchemist wasn't even wearing his armor! Being fair, Jinx hadn't really needed hers, either. The defensive value just didn't meet what she could do with Protect and everything else that was important was on her rings or earrings.

"'m tired." She mumbled when he leaned down to pick her up in a princess carry.

"I noticed that." He grinned, an expression with more life than he'd had in the last few days. "How do you feel, though?"

"...Empty." She finally decided, leaning her head against his shoulder as he walked back up to the shrine. "I feel like everything is empty."

"That was one of the goals here." He admitted to her as they continued to ascend. "I wanted to push you against a stronger opponent, but the ones I have on hand don't replicate on death. You did really good, though, you know that?"

"Mmm..." She hummed, listening to his heartbeat as they kept moving.

"I can't say how strong the gods actually are." He continued speaking. "But you should be able to put up a solid fight. Especially since you and Kary have been working on learning to fight together. You two make a pretty good team."

Jinx already knew that. Especially since she'd been there.

"What did you mean about the goal being to make me feel empty?" That part had stuck out to her as kind of odd. It didn't seem to have anything to do with fighting, so why had that been on his to-do list?

"I... Can't really speak for you, but when I have too much going on, emotionally I mean? It helps if I can find a way to burn it all out for a bit." He was struggling to explain himself, but she understood. He wasn't exactly good with emotions or feelings. "That way, when it all starts to come back? I can try and deal with it at a trickle instead of a flood."

Jinx looked down and let her mind wander as they moved into and through the shrine.

She'd pushed through an onslaught of powerful, aggressive demons. Monsters that would happily and easily destroy entire towns, cities if there weren't forces like the Justice League to save them.

And she'd done it by herself.

Oh, her teacher had been right nearby. Alchemist, the giant goof, had even been cheering her on as she'd fought the beasts he restored from the grave.

Her attributes had been massively boosted, the same as his. The same as Kary's. The difference had finally come down to attitude, skill and the willingness to fight. Jinx was willing, she'd honestly felt insulted at times the way Alchemist would try and handle things without bringing her along.

Attitude and skill though... She'd learned both of those over the last week and change at Kary's side.

Jinx brought a hand up to shield her eyes as they eventually moved out of the shrine and into the courtyard of the keep.

Alchemist had learned those things out of fear. He'd fought and learned how to take those hits with a sense of desperation driving him. She knew he wouldn't admit it, he might not even fully understand it but the level of self-destructive behavior he could get up to, his disregard for his mental well-being...

Normal people didn't do that. Not if they had any other choice. Or at least, not if they believed they had any other choice.

"Take ten, drink something. I'm going to experiment a bit with the incorruptus." He said as he sat her down against a tree. It offered a fairly good view of the courtyard below. It was also the same tree where he'd been leaving random items, apparently for some very friendly albeit somewhat odd crow.

The most recent thing he'd given it?

A giant curved sword that he'd made out of one of the copies of the Old Hero's soul.

How the hell a little crow made off with a giant weapon?

Jinx wasn't sure she wanted to know.

"Trade!" The awful voice in the trees croaked. "Awk! You-You Trade!"

"Oh! Eww!" Jinx shot up when she felt something land on her head, something cold. Dislodged by her sudden movement, a ring dropped off of her head and landed in front of her. "...What?"

Jinx picked it up, an odd and uneven band, then looked up in the tree. She'd never been able to make out the form of Sparkly the Crow, though sometimes she did see shadows moving between the tree limbs.

"Trade!" The creepy little bird squawked again. "Me-me trade!"

She shook her head and put the ring in her pocket. Alchemist could deal with it later.

"Jinx!" Kary shouted as the little demon tore her way up the path of the hill, excitement in her voice. "Look!"

Kary stopped at the edge overlooking the courtyard and extended one wicked claw, pointing down. Walking up to it, Jinx saw Alchemist down below.

It took her a second to realize it wasn't just him but that he'd already summoned and piloted the incorruptus. He'd made its armor look identical to his own set. She had to give it to the man, he did stick to an aesthetic at least.

He held out a giant hand and closed the fist, across from him the Old Hero took form. Another second later and he'd cast Wish again, erasing the Resurrection sickness that seemed to immobilize the demons when they were first recalled.

The creature, a giant and distorted human, took up its notched sword and lunged!

Alchemist stepped forward, through the arc of the swing and backhanded the smaller demon.

...It took his head clean off.

"Jesus..." Jinx mumbled, her eyes wide as she saw Alchemist shake his head and return to his starting position. Glancing down to the side, she was completely unsurprised to see Kary lick her lips and focus hungrily on the mage down below.

"He should be nearly on par with Diana." Kary whispered as Alchemist called upon another Old Hero. "Just imagine how monstrous he could be if he cast Berserk or Haste on top of everything else."

Some part of Jinx was stuck wondering if the Justice League knew that he'd built another body that would let him fight on the same level as some of their uppermost members?

Thinking back to the start of this venture, when he'd fallen down some stairs because he was trying to be theatrical and failed? She somehow doubted it.

Another Hero formed from the vast number of souls they'd claimed from the demon, though before restoring its faculties Jinx noticed Alchemist was doing something odd.

"Is he... Shrinking?" Jinx asked, leaning over the ledge as far as she felt comfortable.

Indeed, down below, the incorruptus was growing smaller and smaller. Finally stopping when it was nearly half a meter tall. A drastic difference compared to when it started at seven meters.

It wobbled into the air, flying unsteadily, and Jinx saw Alchemist use both hands to crush another diamond.

This time? Rather than rush forward to meet the charging demon, Alchemist floated around the attacks! From time to time, he did get hit, but those were growing fewer and fewer as the battle continued.

Near the end he'd started flying about, clad in a blue aura and zipping by at a dizzying speed. He was practically dancing around the demon, avoiding its blows with growing ease.

"That's actually rather impressive." Kary had sat down during the show, her hooves swinging back and forth lazily.

"...It really is." Jinx hadn't expected the giant robot thing he'd made to be at all mobile. She'd figured it would be some slow, clumsy thing.

"Do you think he'd make one for me?" Jinx continued, unsure if she was amused or exasperated when the small suit of armor grabbed on to the Old Hero's wrist with both of its hands, lit up that blue aura again and began to slowly fly straight up.

The demon was trying to pull Alchemist off of it but its sword was stuck in the hand that the mage was wrapped around. Its offhand just couldn't pull him loose.

"Is it bad that I kind of want to ask him that myself?" Kary responded before Alchemist let go and the Old Hero plummeted to the ground.

"Absolutely." Jinx responded without any heat. "You're a terrible fiend and you should be ashamed of yourself."

"Sweetie, don't lie." Kary turned slightly to grin at her, ignoring the window telling them about the rewards they'd gotten for the demon's death.

"I am a fantastic fiend!"

Diana should be mostly on your side. Her mother? (Adopted but whatever) Might very well throw a fit though.

Shes kind of a cowardly, theological fanatic cross misandrist bitch. Her and Diana have had the greatest arguments about her arch nemesis, Ares. She tries her best, but I've read enough comics to not be impressed with her best in the slightest.

I had forgotten where we left off in the main story.

I absolutely love the side story and want to see more as soon as possible. But I wonder if part of the reason so many people enjoy it is because of the sad point we were at in the main story. We enjoyed the sharp contrast.

Nearly fifty-thousand GP in diamonds, almost six-thousand experience...
Wait, what? I thought you were using Pathfinder's Wish spell, which doesn't have an XP cost, just the expensive material component?

And even if you're not, I've never seen any edition of the spell cost both XP and GP to cast. (Which, okay, doesn't mean there isn't such a version out there somewhere; I've largely ignored both 4th and 5th editions of D&D...)

Fun chapter, but did you check those movement speeds?

The WR for 10,000m is 26.11 minutes. That is a speed of 6.4 m/s.
The WR for 100m is 9.58 seconds. That is a speed of 10.2 m/s.

The Dnd combat speed for humans (30 ft/turn) is approximately 1.5m/s, and it's on the low side for how fast people normaly walk.

The movement speeds listed for the armour would leave Alchemist horribly slow compared to all the other empowered enemies he is bound to face.

Yeah. I went and checked the actual player's handbook instead of just the online tools. Got pictures for it here- I did have to go and correct the XP cost, though.

It's been a hot minute since I actually wrote the chapter. I do remember thinking that the magic scaled horribly against the size of the armor but also that it scaled great if the magical improvement wasn't actually impacted by being shrunk.

I usually use a very basic off-hand that 1 foot = .33 meters. It's not exactly precise but it's close enough for government work.

Edit: And, after posting, I went and double checked a few things.
I was always used to reading '3.5 but with pathfinder progression' when I played-by-post.
I probably should have done a bit more research at the time rather than just following the links provided, thinking that PF was basically just a few additions to 3.5
Instead? It's a dramatic rework.
Well... I feel dumb.

That's the 3.5e Player's Handbook. In third edition D&D, wish had an XP cost (and no expensive material component), yes. If you want to reference the 3.5e rules online, most of the core 3.5e rules are available at d20srd.org - and here, have a link to 3.5e wish, specifically.

Edit: Augh, what did the forum do to my nice simple links? Sigh. Okay, that looks better now. Also, addendum: As per D&D rule zero, use whatever you think is best for the story; if the decision that comes down is "Alchemist's wish spell costs diamonds and XP", then it does, and that's that. This isn't something I'm trying to make a serious argument about, it's just something that made me go "Wait, what?"

Edit2: Ah, that'd do it. Yeah, Pathfinder is its own beast, based off of the open IP stuff from third edition D&D; you can usually use 3.5e stuff in Pathfinder and Pathfinder stuff in 3.5e without the game system going utterly wonky, so I can see that there'd be cause for confusion there.

You're good. I'm perfectly fine with having an actual mistake pointed out to me.

On the one hand, the spell having an Experience Cost would make it a bit harder to replicate for casters that aren't Alchemist. He's got items that literally grant Experience on use.

On the other hand, that kind of exclusivity is... Actually kind of annoying. The spell being difficult, sure. It demanding expensive reagents, fine. Other incredible wizards not being able to cast it because they don't have an arbitrary resource pool... Doesn't fit with how things have been shown so far.

I'll switch it over to Pathfinder and remove the notation on the experience cost.
