I mean, that's my point. If they can think of ways to profit from having all the knowledge and access about the Americas (including good maps, information about the political factions, and where the nice trade goods are found)... Well, they have no reason to share that information with us, unless they don't think there's any real chance we could interfere in the trade.
Which to be fair... it's about fourteen thousand miles at sea from the general vicinity of our nearest port to a port in Peru WITH the Suez and Panama canals existing. While we have sea routes that semi-bypass the lack of Suez... Without the Panama Canal it's a hell of a lot farther to the place their cinchona comes from, probably. Certainly beyond the realistic reach of our current shipping establishment. We couldn't compete with the EITC...
But why should they take chances? Especially in a world with many unfamiliar and unknown factions (including us!), often with unknown capabilities and potentialities.
...
Now, on the other hand... their individual officers might share information and rumors on the side whether Company policy encourages it or not. A lot of Company men, both historical and in this setting, are probably happy to get a profitable side hustle or two going.
And some of their sailors may well have been hired/impressed from ports in the Americas, too, so they might have some out of date information.
We might get a little information if we're doing regular trade with the EITC. But probably not much unless we can make a deal with them at the top level and they really think it's a good idea to tell us what they know.
