Prince Aladdin Quest (Disney Villains *Almost* Victorious)

In the Discord, there's a debate going on as to which Diplomacy action is the more pressing: absorbing the Western Satraps as a protectorate, or establishing a diplomatic
embassy in Agrabah. There's good arguments for either action, and they have the same DC (65).
Agrabah: helps strengthen our relationship there, reduced the DC for establishing a trade agreement with them (I hope), gives us more intel regarding the west, and serves as a good net for snatching up any heroes in transit through Agrabah (of which we know for sure that Holmes, Watson, Jones, and the McCann brothers are incoming, and possibly T.E. Lawrence).
Western Satraps: They're in a bad situation with the bandits, and there's a decent chance Lemuria to the south might try absorbing them before us. Considering that they are almost certainly in league with the Deep Ones, that would be bad. There's also a chance of getting heroes, and it unlocks extra options.

Thoughts?

They apply their personal stats to whatever difficulty check they might come across.
Not what I was asking. You made a plan. I copied the bonus calculations you did. But didn't notice that some of the bonuses are invalid because I'm sending them on a adventure or using the hero elsewhere. Knowing what the DCs are after shifting things up from the bonuses is helpful, I wanted to make sure I got it right.

Oh, I see. Sorry, I didn't know you had included DC calculations in your plan. Yeah, their bonuses wouldn't apply to the actions, since heroes only have one, and if they're on an adventure they can't help with Nationals.

I am definitely in favour of Satraps, the situation there is at crisis point right now in a few ways and only going to get worse from here. Plus, at least a few of the benefits of the embassy in Agrabah you mention might be possible at least in part to get by visiting Agrabah as a personal.

Though, from a selfish standpoint, every time the Satraps get bad enough... we suddenly have an excuse to ensure they go to new management. Or see better times at the cost of being in debt to us personally. Aladdin won't think like that but its true nonetheless.

The Western satraps can survive a turn considering the bandits just got there. Not only the bandits will need to handle the locals, they will need to handle their western counterparts, get a lay on the land, and fortify themself. They will need 1 more turn to truly entrench themself there and considering you mention diplomacy they will still be there regardless whether the western become protectorate or not. Leaving them be might even lower the DC because they become desparate. As for Lemuria, there's no chance for them to try and make the western join them. They had just become a kingdom and will face the same problem as us right now but worse. There's nothing that they can do to the western that will have a lasting impact this turn.

I strongly disagree. For one, doing diplomacy now rather than an invasion after things break down entirely means a significantly lower manpower drain. Two, Lemuria borders them too! Lemuria could very easily sink their claws into that juicy opportunity if we don't, and almost certainly will.

Western Satraps is most likely significantly more time-sensitive than you suggest.

Isn't the cost a bit too expensive? 5000 gold.

Them surviving isn't the issue. Them being grabbed by a different nation is. Agrabah is already almost guaranteed to be an ally, if a potential enemy moves before us on the western satraps, we are locked out of them. Especially because we now have the northern satraps. The other satraps are going to be trying to stop us from consolidating more.

Well, in order to ally with them we would be getting rid of the bandits right? If we wipe out the bandits that means that their loot that isnt from the local area is up for grabs

We can recoup some of the costs off of their stashes

He ask for diplomacy and that route means the bandits would still be there considering we didn't move the military. So the situation there will get worse regardless for a turn.

As for Lemuria. They can't do anything. They are a new kingdom that are basically us turn 1. Especially considering their backer. Our backer is basically the Genie. They will focus their attention first on legitimizing their rule and consolidating their forces to make sure no one will just waltz up to them and conquer them. What they need is allies and taking over another area is a bad way to get that. Going for a diplomacy to the western satraps is the best that they could do and even then I doubt they will waste their diplomacy action on them considering we are their neighbors. They will approach us first to try gain our approval of their kingdom.

In my opinion, a nation founded by eldritch allies would not attempt to go for the stronger, more aware nation first. They allied with them in the first place because the southern sitraps were in a weak position and were approached by ursala. That's her MO, going to people who are down on their luck and tricking them into signing unfavorable deals. She's the facillier of the sea. They would absolutely go after the weak nation to gain more power quickly to have a better negotiating position in the future.

Even if there is a chance they would go for us, its not guaranteed. In my opinion its a coin flip. If they go after us its basically harmless, but if its tails and they go after the western sitraps, then we gave them free power and cash at our expense.

Theres no similar time pressure on agrabah

Ah, new thought and possible problem folks. If Lemuria grabs the West, we might have to play ball with them if we want to get to Agrabah.

- [][Stewardship]Taking Aim...
While this crossbow invention appears to have a lot of potential; right now all that can be produced are a few at a time in small batches. With some luck and some searching around, it should be possible to find the craftsmen needed to start making them in bulk; and from there begin stockpiling the bolts as well as the crossbows for use if needed. Adds a +10 defensive bonus against anyone attacking a city or kingdom that is stocked with Crossbows. Opens up new martial options.
--[]Sell the Crossbows: Gain income of 3,500 per turn, risk of individuals reverse-engineering the crossbows.
DC: 55
Cost: 2000, Upkeep Cost of 500 per turn.

@TempestK, I think you forgot to include this in the Stewardship options for Turn 7. Not that we're choosing it, but I'd like to be able to take it later.

Also, edited my plan, swapped out the Agrabah action in exchange for the Western Satrap action. I've been convinced that the situation there is more time-sensitive than Agrabah, although I would like to set up the embassy there next turn.

This plan focuses on getting the diplomacy and learning extra actions along with doing what we can to prepare for the sand witch adventure.

The bulk of the cost is dealing with the military shortage in case we need to invade west next turn.

It also takes the personal that potentially gets us Selous.

[X] Plan: Tranquil As A Forest
-[X][Martial] Cat's in the Cradle
This talk of Leopard Men coming from the south-west is disturbing. Perhaps it would be a good idea to train up a cadre of soldiers specializing in night-fighting and stealthy combat. If nothing else they would be a useful surprise against enemies thinking your men could only operate at their peak during the day.
DC: 65 (18+11+20=+49, 84% chance of success.)
Cost: 2,000 gold, 500 Gold upkeep for their specialized training facilities needed.
-[X][Stewardship] A Place for Everything
The Dreaded One's Hoard is currently taking up a lot of space and being shiny. Neither of which are actually all that useful to the kingdom. Sinbad will have some of his most trusted men sort through the pile and figure out what's actually in it.
DC: Variable (11+15=+26, ???)
Cost: 1500 Gold
-[X][Diplomacy] Attempt to bring in nearby satraps as protectorates
Friends help friends, but sometimes a friend needs more help than you can give them as a friend. But if they joined you as a vassal they'd probably be able to get the help they needed. Attempts to convince the leadership of a friendly satrap to join as a protectorate under Ababwa's banner. Sets up a trade office, a diplomatic outpost, inserts spies and scouts the place for any resources that they may not have realized. Gains variable income, resources and possibly Hero characters.
--[X] Western Satraps
DC: 65 (25+18+19=+62, 97% chance of success.)
Cost: 5000 Gold
-[X][Intrigue] Send spies to Agrabah to discreetly keep an eye on things
The Sultan and the Princess both seem determined to get things in Agrabah back on track, but it never hurts to have someone watching their backs, right? Send a few discreet agents to keep an eye on things and to report back if trouble is brewing.
DC: 55 (27+20+23=+70, 99% chance of success. Take that, Sand Witches!)
Cost: 1500 Gold
-[X][Learning] When you wish upon a Star
According to Chiron, ever since the Great Disturbance, the stars themselves don't even look right. He wants to request a royal commission to remap the stars and create new star charts for navigation and charting the seasons. Perhaps that will help explain why the African Savannahs seem to be drying out unnaturally fast as if beset by a great Dry Season. Mostly completed.
DC: 65 (30+11+17=+58, 93% chance of success)
Cost: 1,000
-[X][Occult] It's Coarse and Rough and it gets Everywhere
The news of these Sand Witches trying to take Agrabah from the Sultan is rather unnerving. Zummi will delve into what records he has and can find in the libraries as well to see what information can be, ahem, dug up, on the Sand Witches. Reduces DCs involving Sand Witches, new options unlocked.
DC: 75 (12+30=+42, 67% chance of success.)
Cost: 0 Gold
-[X][Personal] Life's a Zoo
Visit the Menagerie (pick out a mount and/or just stress relief). The Menagerie is a great place to relax and watch the animals just live their lives. Though since Abu is no longer an elephant, Aladdin may need a new animal as a mount for when he can't take Carpet. See what animals the Menagerie has to offer that can be trained as mounts.
DC: 60 (Unsure what stat, if any, of Aladdin's applies to this; 40% chance of success if none.)
-[X][Personal] Now Who Could That Be?
Aladdin's guard has informed him that a man has shown up at the palace gates requesting an audience. His name is Selous.
DC: Variable
-[X][Will Personal] A Strong Back
Will is more than happy to assist his newfound friends with their tasks, though his communication skills aren't quite up to snuff. Will assists in a National task, communication trait procs.
--[X] When you wish upon a star
-[X][Iago Personal] You Scratch My Beak...
Iago is well aware that you didn't hire him on for his good looks. He'll pitch in as best he can with projects. Just tell him where to put his effort in.
--[X] Send spies to Agrabah to discreetly keep an eye on things
-[X][Jose Personal] Hospital stay
Jose Faria is a man who's been subjected to decades of abuse and malnourishment. He needs extensive rest, nutritional supplements, and probably more. Jose spends the next two months in the hospital convalescing. Reduces his "These Old Bones" Penalty by 2.
DC: 20 (80% chance of success, higher with XP.)
-[X][Tai Lung Personal] Matters Great and Small
Tai Lung is grateful for the place that he's been given in Ababwa, and is more than willing to assist in any tasks that Aladdin may need him for.
--[X] Cat's in the Cradle
-[X][Leah Personal] A Little Elbow Grease
With her expanded capabilities, and Zummi's newfound grasp of Arabic, Leah is now free to help out in a larger capacity. She can be assigned to a National task.
--[X] Attempt to bring in nearby satraps as protectorates

Cost: 11,000 gold, +500/turn upkeep.

Cost: 1,200 Gold
-[X][Learning] What's up Docs?

-[X][Personal] Correspond with Jasmine

I like the idea of taking the western satrap as a protectorate. Had to throw out fixing the herbs issue, but we can buy this plan.

The bulk of the cost is dealing with the military shortage in case we need to invade west next turn.

The only real problem with getting extra actions is that increases our expenses. Unless we can increase our income more before we take on more actions.
