You know, this probably wouldn't be as much of a problem if our Social Tech wasn't so behind OTL.
We're not really far behind. We focused on other branches of social techs, since there was little domestic demand for it...which was because we dodged some large bullets. We got some EARLY even, because our dudes were doing archeology and anthropology(and other hoity toity social techs) before it was cool.
By contrast Hespranxer and the other Syffryn states were forced to open up to new ideas because rebellion everything and followed by seething as people needed something to blame for the economy sucking that's not "its your own bloody fault".

Inversely, you have the Sketch, who set their socials on fire.

I think Random was talking about Real Life, and how IRL the world's 'behind' in Social Techs compared to other things...

I apologize for disturbing the slumber of the thread, but the Victoria 2 mod is now Real and Extant! It's in a (very) buggy alpha state, but all PoC nations are fully playable. There are still some remnants of IRL nations in some places of the map as well.

Behold: The Victoria 2: Paths of Industrialization v0.03 Mod

Article:
Patchnotes: Paths of Industrialization v0.03

ADDED:

Merchant Republic of Bannity
Kingdom of Trynest
Kingdom of Amyrano
Kingdom of Nydwytch (Saffron Islands)

OOBs for:
Honourable East Kus Company
Sketch
Khemetri
Bannity
Trynest
Amyrano
Nydwytch

REBALANCED:

Population of Khemetri increased (4.25m -> 6.18m)
Soldiers for Trynest
Removed all IRL GP's from the game by divvying them up amongst the nations of PoI (and decolonised some provinces entirely)

Guys, I may or may not have forgotten to include the events (and, I realised once Manus and I got the MP working, the decisions). Oops.

You may download the events separately here:
event folder
decisions folder

or simply redownload the mod in its entirety (the link is updated to include the events).

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Victoria 2\mod\PoI
is the standard folder for the installations

your folders should be placed here:

If there is anything I, or anyone else, can do to help you please let us know. I really do like the PoI quest and am willing to help in some way if I can to see it revive.

Right now my biggest struggle is finding the motivation and energy to write regularly, so there are unfortunately some even more fundamental problems than my core frustration with the mechanics and the feeling that I wrote myself into a corner.

Are there any easy, smaller things you can do to rewards yourself for doing some writing (not necessarily for this thread in particular)? Like, getting a little extra dessert, or saving some of your favorite music and only listening to it as a reward, or something like that?

Probably a good idea, although to an extent I'm just feeling burnt out in general by various things going on in my life. I've actually had like two or three projects fizzle out in the background.

One good thing is that the turning of the seasons means that I have fewer excuses not to get outside and take a walk to pep myself up/organize my thoughts.

However long it takes, you should know that your fans love your work. You have done an excellent job of creating a world and you should be proud of that.

A walk is always a good idea. I believed it is the most common form of exercise.

How do ya organize your thought anyway? I take notes on index cards. When I put them on my computer, I make sure to put them in atomic 150 words files.

use tales of history or chronicles of civilisation mechanics you could make another civ quest and revamp the mechanics
