Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

@Silently Watches , the way tech points work is getting one per thing built right? So if we do Maclibuin's device (two slots) and two other projects, we won't have enough points for Exotic Physics?

Or is it a tech point per build-slot used (so as to not advantage many simple projects over a few big ones), and anything we do will give enough points?

Also, will a combined mechashift spear-whip AND an electricity generator to pair it with (ideally using the shock aspect is optional, so we choose between shock mode and shredding-claw mode) still only cost one Build Slot? Not sure if Plan Three Slots actually uses four, based on your list of build ideas.
You get 1 tech point per finished project. The shock component of the suggested weapon is simple enough that it would count as a single slot.

Wasn't there also some mention that Dragon is already working on teleport pads for upcoming Endbringer fight, so its not clear that Tim needs to?

[X] Plan Three Slots
-[X] Boost Device for Maclibuin
-[X] Shock spear/multi-tailed whip for Sam

Still like the idea of getting Vista at least an upgraded helmet, but I do like seeing what Silently has in mind I suppose as their detail-heavy crafting and ritual scenes are my favorite thing of theirs (fight scenes are actually second favorite o_o no idea why SilentlyWatches thinks they can't write good ones. Off-topic but Krum Duel was a great example <3 whole tournament)

@Solusandra Based on what SW said about next update having a PoV that offers a counter-view to the Enforcer's warning about your plan, I'd tend to lean towards putting off Plan Pokemon until next build vote (when we've seen it to take into account).

On the other hand, I'd be so happy to see a shiny new omake let us buy Exotic Physics with this build vote that I might just take leave of my senses and vote in any wild direction of relevance :V

If we actually made it so that close to the 5% of people on Earth-Bet had access to the Guardian Beast ritual. A number of those people are going to be capes.
Imagine if someone in the Empire (even just a grunt), learned and created a Gear Beast. Suddenly the Empire has access to magical tinker-tech.
I know the odds are low, but that is essentially what you are creating.
Africa, for example. Guardian Beasts suddenly being at thing is just going to add a new element into the combat of the Warlords.
Found some numbers on r/Parahumans, thanks to u/MugaSofer, approximately 30,960 Parahumans exist worldwide. Running that against the 2011 world population of 6,987,000,000, that means the percent of Capes worldwide is four percent of one percent of one percent, or .0004% of all humans. Dividing the same number of Capes by twenty to simulate the odds of one having a linker core tells me that approximately 1,548 capes in the entire world are in possession of one... Or a fifth of a percent of a percent of a percent, 0.00002%. A majority of Guardian Beasts are going to otherwise ordinary humans.

Frankly until and unless we've built up a powerful and loyal strike force of mages to handle the shenanigans resulting from GB spam it's a plan with tons of pitfalls.

I maintain that talking to Dragon about approaching the Canadian or other such government (i.e. not in the pockets of capes plus won't upset the current balance yet) to see about getting their police or military personnel Guardian Beasts to help them keep things from spinning out of control once the GB everywhere plan is implemented.

I have no issues with that. Suggested a few of the times I brought the subject up. SW was very noncommittal, aside from saying it would definitely be Taylor who would start something like that rather than Dragon.

That's........not why we're doing it. I explained the logic behind it and think it solid. Funny decisions, yes, stupid, only in naysayers PoV.
I know. It's finals week and I will give myself brain damage if I take anything more seriously than I have to.
This response doesn't inspire confidence in the decision making at work here.
This is me letting loose after being forced to make rational, responsible decisions for the last two weeks. Don't take me seriously until next Thursday.

@Silently Watches : for the rust grenade idea, there really isn't any reason that a magical "grenade" has to be single use. We're not packing it with high explosives that will tear apart whatever it's made out of: Rather, it could generate a field or pulse from it that wouldn't effect itself, but would everything in the area, and then be out of charge until it's given time / a recharge hookup to replenish its energy. That would let you give one item for one slot, but have it be used one/fight rather than single use only. Or more than one/fight if someone has a way to recharge it quickly, such as one of Taylor's cartridges.
You mean something like a light grenade?

Question. Can we make bondage drones? As in, ones that would fly around the enemy and then try to immobilize them? Kinda like that cage-harness-thing in Doctor Strange, only automatic. And can we make them brute-proof?
Why go with something so complicated? Just mount a net gun or launcher. Those already exist in real life.
They might not work on Alexandria or Glory Girl level brutes, but most capes aren't, and even those two would be momentarily slowed down even if they can rip the net like tissue paper.

Here's my reasoning for wanting Dealer's Choice.
Outside of the things related to quest or social lines(Radio, Devices, Vista's arm) anytime stuff gets built it's kinda all over the place. There's no concise idea on what we're doing. I'm hoping that with Dealer's Choice, SW will at least give us some kind of direction that we're just not picking up.

[X] Plan Cassiel
-[X] Boost Device for Maclibuin. 2 slots.
-[X] Unison Device to slurp up Cassiel's mind. 3 slots. Partial progress

Just a reminder of what this plan entails:
"I can't promise anything, but if we could do something for you like we did for Dragon, would you want us to?" Her nod is almost violent in its speed. "Even if it means there are two yous running around instead of pulling your mind into the new body?"
We will try to copy Cassiel into the Unison Device. Original Cassiel will continue to be the Fallen prisoner.
I would prefer to try some other way to help her first. For example, we know that new Dragon is invisible for Cassy's family, so if we ask for her help to locate Cassy, the Fallen will not see it coming.

I maintain that Solusandra's "Give every potential mage on the planet the ability to summon GBs" is a terrible idea.
I too have some misgivings about the idea (mostly it's ethical concerns about mass producing of the sapient beings, programmed to be loyal and fight for their masters), however I think it can be beneficial, if we discuss the idea with the Triumvirate first and start GBs distributing with the PRT.

Director of the PRT New-York: "So. Chief Director just contacted me. She said a fairy will come to us today to assess magical potential of our personnel and help identified mages to perform some kind of magical ritual. I have a distinct feeling that someone went crazy, but I'm not sure who: me, her or the universe."
Legend: "The universe. Definitely the universe."
Standstill: *nod, nod*
Standstill's Guardian Beast: *grin*

Dragon is invisible to Cassiel. That does not mean she's invisible to the Fallen overall.

If you look farther down at the next paragraph or so, you'll also see that Cassiel has a plan for what to do if her mind is copied rather than transferred.

[X] Plan 2 for Samantha
-[X] Boost Device for Maclibuin
-[X] Shock spear/multi-tailed whip for Sam
-[X] Wireless/projection taser, AKA lightning gun. 1 slot. for Sam

Samantha could both use a good melee weapon and a ranged non lethal option

[X] Plan Cassiel

Cassiel's situation seems a little more critical.
As for a general release of Guardian Beasts...whether its a net improvement or not, in the short and mid term the TSAB and the PRT are going to be very very annoyed at us, which hinders us.

Silently, from what I read of that entire exchange, picking up a Unison body for Cassiel (if she's copied rather than transferred) would have Cassiel-the-human commit suicide.

It's not a resolution I consider optimal.

I think it is only viable as a contingency.
Otherwise it should be done in a more controlled manner.

Just to clarify, the TSAB would not be annoyed. This is an internal Earth Bet matter as far as they are concerned and thus none of their business. Erga just wanted to make sure that if Taylor went through with it that she did so with her eyes open.

If anything, Cassiel-the device can probably end up going full out to save Cassiel-the human herself. She'd have pretty much the same potential as Dragon after all, even if she doesn't have the existing infrastructure.

IIRC, a Unison Device by themselves is limited in what they can do. And like I said a while ago, anyone taking on the Fallen megafamily alone is not likely to succeed at best, be captured/killed at worst.

You could also make sure that the Device scrambles her brain after transfer/copying. (I'd throw in a joke about murder as opposed to suicide, but in this situation I don't think it would be appropriate.)

Not wanting a little girl to commit suicide is a laudable position, don't get me wrong, but it is Cassiel herself who asked for this.

Probably not what you meant, but Cassiel the Device would have different skills and spells than Dragon the Device.

Ah, gotcha.

Though in immediate terms it gives a big boost to the Elite's model of Parahuman Mafia, where they offer enough goodies for good men to look away while they do bad things to bad people, and everyone just needs to pay them a cut and let them work...long term this would probably equalize out, but I think one of the first things you want the Unison Guardian Beast project to kick off on is to set them to do so only for government and law enforcement elements if you don't want to trigger general societal chaos...

...but the problem then is no rightminded government is going to let you do a wide ranging experimental procedure on their people.
And the issue with granting independents power is...look to the Privateers. There is no reliable and secure moral assessment.

So that goes to Plan C: Create your own Knightly Order equivalent by expanding the use of Immortal Assimilation Engine tactics(i.e. recruit a gang, secure their loyalty by normal means, and then empower them). Which probably would make the big powers uneasy at the rising minor power, but would be overlooked in the short term. Which, again, look to the Privateers for how they might not stay with you long term.
