Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

OOC reason: Can we pleaase remove them from their power armor in case they have a hidden ace, or they use that signal to self destruct the base?

IC reason: MAKE SURE THEY DON'T HAVE A WAY TO SET OFF THE KILL SWITCH FROM WHAT'S LEFT OF THEIR POWER ARMOR!
In addition to what the two above me said, I think you mixed up OOC and IC. In Character, we might suspect they have a hidden ace or send a signal to destroy the base. Out Of Character, there's your idea of a Ascalon kill switch.

And if they wake up while still in the armor, unbound, PRT arresting them, and we're gone what the hell do you think they'll do? What is it with players on this thread and half assing plans constantly.

An assumption that is further supported by the fact that large chunks of their armor have been ripped away, including the helmets of a man and a woman.
@lancelot, you get to complain about poor planning after you re-take and pass Update Reading 101.

I highly doubt their armor is at all functional given it's been ripped to pieces:

The only real concern is that mage and Samantha will still be there.

It's still linked to their base and the computers there which is how we know about the base.

And I believe the idea that Ascalon can be hooked up to their armour is pervasive fanon.

It isn't in their armor, but it can send the execute command to the program that is at their base. The real question should always be 'is it worth the risk to not be sure'?

And explicitly ruled out for the quest by the QM.
Actually it hasn't explicitly been ruled out, as far as I can tell, it's just been implicitly ruled out:
Saint does not carry Ascalon on him.
I don't know where this idea that Saint has Ascalon hooked into his suit comes from. That's never even hinted at a single time in canon, and in fact it seems to be the opposite from my reading of his interlude.

No lancelot. The real question is:

I'm just gonna cut in here. I WILL IGNORE any part of a plan that talks about avoiding a deadman's switch for Ascalon or any other program. Taylor has less than zero reason to think that's even a thing. There's meta-gaming, and then there's this.
Why do you keep insisting on being in-the-know when you're not?

I'm abstaining from this vote, but it would have been to stay and talk to the PRT, and deal with Saint's base afterwards, but then I remembered that we'll likely be busy dealing with the aftermath of TSAB meeting Earth-Bet via Endbringer, without us there to facilitate things. Quickly turned into a choice that has strong negatives on both sides...

I honestly think that we need to stay talk to the PRT about this, because of Truce reasons, but at the same time, this may be our only chance to get Richter's black box, and with it the means to unchain Dragon (if not directly given in the Black Box, then through Tim's learning the tech via Digital Blueprints).

My personal preference would have been us staying to deal with the PRT, and sending Sam (or Sam and Tim) to check out Saint's base, but that option was shot down by SW already...

since when and how can you create little holographic screens in the middle of a conference room when you're apparently up in Canada?
We can do that?
IC reason: MAKE SURE THEY DON'T HAVE A WAY TO SET OFF THE KILL SWITCH FROM WHAT'S LEFT OF THEIR POWER ARMOR!
IC we have absolutely no reason to suspect Saint has a kill switch for Dragon. All we know (suspect) is Dragon is an AI, and Saint can hack her.
What is it with players on this thread and half assing plans constantly.
I actually find that most of our (non-dice related) problems have seemed to stem from going into FAR too many specifics with the plans. Things seem to work out better when we lay down a general plan (or go with one of SW's given votes) and let SW worry about the details.

Not to say all the planning is a bad thing, SW has freely admitted to altering her plans because something we discussed (that didn't win the vote) was better than what she had planned; but I get the impression that SW has a basic idea of the positives and negatives that she wants to give us for each choice in each vote, and our attempts as micromanaging votes often seem to run counter to her plans.

but then I remembered that we'll likely be busy dealing with the aftermath of TSAB meeting Earth-Bet via Endbringer, without us there to facilitate things.
We still don't know if the TSAB did show up at the Endbringer fight. Even if they did we wouldn't be dealing with the aftermath of them showing up.

When everyone gets back from the Endbringer attack Miss Militia, or possibly Alexandria since she does want to talk to Taylor, will be calling us to tell us that Captain is dead. Even with the way their relationship has recently fallen apart Taylor is going to be far too busy grieving to deal with anything else.

Fine, then let me state this explicitly. THERE IS NO REMOTE KILL SWITCH. To use Ascalon, Saint has to give the command WHILE IN THE BASE. Iron Maiden/Ascalon is self-contained, and Saint doesn't understand how the code works and can't replicate it, much as he's tried.
It's still linked to their base and the computers there which is how we know about the base.
No, you tapped into the GPS data in Saint's suit to determine where it spends most of its time. That's why the option is listed as Saint's possible base, because you don't know for sure that's what it is. For all Taylor knows, he could keep his suit at home when he isn't using it or maybe in the back of a truck parked at his workplace, in which case teleporting to those coordinates will land her in those places.
We still don't know if the TSAB did show up at the Endbringer fight.
They didn't.

Fate and Arf talked through the same kind of screens in TOS/Movie 1st. I assume, though it's never outright stated to be the case, that familiars can do this because they're connected to their mages' Devices through their mages themselves. In this case, it wouldn't be Taylor creating the screen but Samantha creating one so Taylor could talk to the PRT, but no one would believe Samantha was responsible since it would clearly be a Tinker's work.

Confirmation on no kill switch...

...urge to summarily execute Saint & Co. rising....
Lemme take a new tack here: Better to let Dragon decide his fate.
Or we could, and I know this will sound crazy, let the courts decide. Saint and friends have the right to due process and are in no way a threat of sufficient scale to warrant summary execution. Assuming we actually teleport to Saint's base and not some random warehouse he keeps his suit in we'll have Ascalon and any other tech the Dragonslayers have. At that point even if they escape they are no more harmful then an ordinary human. Well Mags has a C-rank core so she has up to two spells but that's nothing to really be concerned about.

Now I can't help but imagine how that could go assuming you go through with the Unison Device idea. Visitation time with Dragon 2.0 would be so interesting. :)

Nope, she only has Strong Shield. She's a Deviceless mage, so a C-rank gives her one spell at full strength.

I'm not in favor of the whole courts thing, because Dragon is technically not a person by the current laws (because she isnt human), so it's very possible that Saint will get off scot-free.

Hadn't seen our Old One's decree on having both ways when I voted. I vote before reading the comments.

No one knows Dragon is an AI and no one is going to believe Saint when he tries to claim so*. Even if he some how succeeds Saint would still be guilty of the variety of charges relating to his work as a mercenary. Oh and he's guilty of assault on Samantha and Calamity Witch during our fishing expedition.

*Especially if he brings up the TSAB since claiming Dragon is working with aliens is a great way to be dismissed as a loon.

Hm... this is the system which you've said is facing massive pressure to be incredibly fascistic in regards to the quarantine zones, and in canon did a total railroading of Canary to make a point with other Masters.

I think I know what you're getting at:

Saint turns state evidence, sells out his girlfriend and Russian buddy, but gets kept on so the government can have more control over Dragon for even more surveillance, manipulation, and villain-fighting capability.

And we get to glare at him from outside his cushy penthouse, thinking very hard whether or not to make the choice another Taylor Hebert in another universe made even earlier.

Tell me Silently Watches, how close am I?

…If we were playing "Hot or Cold", you'd be in Antarctica.

But she has her cape person, and Worm laws let trial parahumans in their cape person, without unmasking.
So, if cape could be an accused, why they couldn't be a victim?
