Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

To give you some additional info to consider (or drive yourselves crazy over, either way), I'll give a brief comparison.

Increase damage: tank (self), DPS (self), support (others)
Increase defense: tank (self), support (others)
Increase speed: tank (self, limited), DPS (self)
Shields: tank, support
Teleportation: DPS, ranged
Binds: support, ranged
Healing: support

Infiltration and Scientist aren't mentioned because, well, they are very different from the others.

Going to vote for Healing when the time comes :p. We can learn other support spells ourselves. At least to a limited degree.

Is there any reason why we can't have two? One for combat and one for healing?

I know that Admiral Graham had two familiars, and they were both set up for combat.

I suppose that supporting two at the same time would lower our maximum potential since part of that would be set aside for them, but having a healer is just so helpful.

I'd even support dropping the combat familiar if we need to in order to get a healer instead. We are an artillery mage after all so I have no problems with trying to avoid close range battles until we have more training if that means that we get a healer instead.

Power limitations. Apparently multiple familiars are weird/rare due to the strain on the mage's linker core very often outweighing the benefits of extra backup.
In that case, I vote for the healer.

Long term the healer is just far more valuable for us. They would be able to heal any training injuries we get, letting us progress faster; Heal any fighting injuries we get, letting us get back into the field faster; Heal our allies, letting them live longer and be more effective all around; Possibly selling their abilities to heal to rich injured people, gaining us a form of income if we need it and possible political benefits with we angle the healing in that manner...

Plus the one who puts you back together knows best on how to take you apart. Just because they are a healer doesn't mean that they can't help with fighting. Also, since we are a Belkan mage, we might be able to use cartridges; and the healer Shamal was able to make them for the others in the book of darkness.

also the supporter is capable of buffing yourself and allies as well as creating barriers.

You can do that, but creating twin familiars will halve the rate of learning and training your own spells.

The support class has no innate offensive advantages over an unpowered, untrained civilian.

No, you aren't a Belkan mage; I know I've said this before. Only the Knight template, which is Belkan, can create or use cartridges.

if we cross train with the knight can we use cartridges?
Yes, but only you could create or us them. That's another drain on your Linker Core, and it does not give you much situational adaptability. You're basically stuck with the options "hit it hard" and "hit it harder".

I'm not saying a Witch/Knight combo is bad; from a one-on-one combat perspective, it's the best of the twelve. But combat strength like that comes with its own downsides.

considering who and what we will be up against eventually that isn't much of a downside.

Hmm. Well I still think that the healer is the best choice.
Between our cross training and our familiar, we should pick up both the support class and the crafter class... but I think we should be the support class. Crafting, especially enough crafting to make the rest of the Privateers worth a damn against hostiles (read: artificial linker cores and cyborg upgrades), will be extremely time-intensive, time that we can't afford even with our prospective homeschooling and accelerated learning. Let's have our familiar do it instead.

I'd back that. Even if it slows personal growth, giving the team all powers from tech and healing/teleport support makes up for it.

So like, I was at the docks, walking fast away from distant gunfire when suddenly Squealer screams (pun intended) past me with this flying cape hot on her heels blasting the train thingy.

After the scuffle, Velocity runs in and talks to the new cape before she flies away.

I managed to get video of the battle, here's the [LINK]

So, yeah. Apparently merchants just lost cape.

Alright, got some information for you all.

Squealer is indeed in custody. She got some burn damages but nothing modern medicine can't heal.

Protectorate knows about the new cape, she actually got the paperwork for signing up as independent cape 30 minutes before all this happened.

She gave them a name but it isn't going to be published until she delivers the paperwork. Should be done sometime tomorrow.

Tentative classification I got was Blaster 4/Mover 4/Brute 2

I add pictures and more data when I got it.

Hello, Calamity Witch here.

I just dropped my paperwork at the rig, so I'm now officially newest hero at Brockton Bay

I don't know yet when I have time to meet other heroes but do contact me and I try to find opening at my schelude.

Missy Biron didn't smile with gleam in her eyes and definitely didn't squee (no matter how much her friends teased about that) while she was reading about the new cape. Calamity Witch.

No. She was the perfect example of professionalism and when school would end, she would put on her costume and volunteer (not like she would give others any choice) for patrol. Then she would contact Calamity Witch to get photo invite her to patrol the city.

"I wonder if she has a familiar?"

Fuck you Simurgh.

... or are you being seriously honest for once?

So her getting thrown violently into a brick wall didn't even leave bruises?
