Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

 Oh, I don't think Dragon would have a problem giving the TSAB the Endbringer files.
... you enjoy messing with me, don't you?
Cadejo is almost certainly going to show his face again, and we need a better plan of attack than last time to avoid embarrassing ourselves again
If we do take Ready to Rumble, then hasn't it been said that turning of Flare Shooter's safeties would break Cadejo's Changer/Breaker form's teeth and claws?
Remember, we only need the lethal-setting spells to break Cadejo's claws and teeth.
Then he has to transform back to human, then dogs again, regain them.

Right, we can call back TSAB and have a full half hour conversation with them now. Probobly want to bring Dragon into that convo eventually, if only so that she can bring together a proper full contact package.

I do think we should take people with us if we go sewer exploring. If not some of the Privateers, than some of the Protectorate.

I'm hoping that we can safely put of talking to Dragon about an information packet for the TSAB until next week, since we have a time-sensitive action this week. If all goes well, we'll be able to get whatever brawl erupts under control, and then we can spend some time letting Dragon know that we've finally got ourselves a battery for the radio.

Oh, although potentially putting the Dragon meeting off a week does open up the possibility of getting a non-prototype mana generator for the radio.

Specifically, it's a motorcycle that transforms into power armor for your power armor.
Yea, that. I never actually watched Bubblegum Crisis, or any of it's spinoffs, so not the best source of info.

I can name 2 or three good crossover fics with it off the top of my head though.

The reason I don't want to wait on the radio is the TSAB properly preparing. I'd like to get a force that is ready to face the worst Earth Bet has to offer, not a glorified scouting team. If we wait too long, those files might be met with 'shit, they left X weeks ago!', and we'll have to wait for reinforcements.
Remember, the time-sensitive actions aren't must-takes. Frankly, this is more of SW trying to get Taylor introduced to that Winter chick in and out of costume. And we've got enough on our plate.

Don't forget, Ready to Rumble is also potentially defusing, or at least lessening, the impact of any major brawls that break out. While I don't mind blowing it off in order to talk with Dragon too much, we should be careful and not just dismiss something out of hand.

@Silently Watches Can we just send Dragon an email saying we now have a proper way to power the radio, and that we'll contact her about actually using the radio in a week or so, once we have some spare time?

This would keep Dragon updated, and give her plenty of time to get a first contact/Endbringer info package setup, without using a 'hanging out' vote this week.

Hm, to be fair I could see the winter chick dying if we don't take the option. Or at least getting a negative modifier to survival rolls.

  • Back in the Saddle, Part 2 – The storm sewers, of course. There's no telling where in that twisting labyrinth Typhon has holed up. Explore the tunnel system and see if you can find the villainous bio-Tinker's bases. Write-in for whom to bring with you (Samantha is coming by default).
All right so we sure miss militia this information, then like we did with Legend we let them watch the same time as we do when we flood the storm sewers with wide-area search. At no point do we go into the very narrow confined area of the storm sewers in such a place we will be at every possible disadvantage. Better to find the target do wide-area search and then simply blast it from the sky or sending people who have the advantage in that kind of close confined area.

Sure.

True. If someone was interested in seeing more of Taylor's 'friend', then they'd probably want to vote for that.

If we're going to make the effort to bring in the PRT and Protectorate and actually go after the enemy, we should push for a large operation. All heroes on deck, all PRT agents deployed, independent heroes brought in.
And that would take time.

If we want to just do a recee run, find the enemy then get out, we can totally go in to the storm sewers. We can teleport and escape to our own little pocket dimension, they can only swap things around.

Pathfinder, the Adepts' teleporter, would not be able to help for the reasons Reaper mentioned. You can bring a couple of the Adepts along (Epoch and Standstill/Thirteenth Hour) if you do Secret Santa Part 3 and Back in the Saddle Part 2 in the same week.
@Silently Watches, can we pull off BitS2 and SS3 in the same slot, freeing up the slot for R2R?

Sub-vote proposal:

-[] Send Dragon an email (PS ensuring the delivery is secure) letting her know we've got a way to power the radio. We're too busy to do anything about it right now, and she wanted to be informed before we contacted them again anyways. Request she have a first contact/Endbringer info package ready to transmit when we contact her in a week or so. Have PS include some basic info about the group we'll be contacting so Dragon can focus on the most relevant stuff for her message.

We all know that SW can be a bit finicky about the wording vs the intent of a vote, so feel free to point out potential problems, or things to also touch upon in the email.

Y'know I'm surprised there hasn't been more blowback over Vista's injury. To us. We basically lead her against the orders of the senior ward member on site and in the process almost got her killed. Like... Holy fuck.

It was basically a "both sides fucked up" situation. The Ward on sight was supposed to be with Vista and just decided to fuck off when Vista wanted to intervene with us.

I may end up giving you a wierd double-birdie-thumbs up gesture.
...I don't get it. Can you please give me a finger-by-finger description like this:
1) The hands are held in front of the chest, inner side of the palm facing the chest
2) The thumbs are in a "thumbs up" gesture, pointing upwards
3) The index fingers are folded to the palm
...et cetera.

This probably also has a consequence that if we pick the R2R option, the Protectorate will be keeping in mind the fact we went our own way both with Vista, and with talking to Purity. And most recently, with Legend and the Adepts.

Let's face the facts, Calamity Witch is a loose cannon. In fact, an entire loose battlecruiser. I expect the option to force us into a yet another dilemma of the "obey the order OR go in guns blazing" variety.

  • Secret Santa, Part 3 – You spent some time thinking about Epoch's offer, and you need more information before you make a final decision. Give him a call and meet the rest of the Adepts.
  • Ready to Rumble – Because of course villains have nothing better to do than cause trouble. Tensions between the Winter Hill gang and MS-13 are coming to a boil yet again, and the Protectorate is keeping a watchful eye on the situation. Be ready to jump in if a fight breaks out.
  • A Whole New World – You've always lived in a small corner of New England, but now you have powers that really let you get around. Take a little time to see the world around you.
    • Spatial Translocation: Write-in
    • Dimensional Translocation: Random or Write-in
  • Back to Our Scheduled Programing – Go on patrol and look for trouble. You can write in to go along with somebody/somebodies.
  • Hanging Out – Take a little time to yourself and spend some time with somebody/somebodies. Preferably doing something that doesn't involve burninating people. Write in the person, place, and thing.
  • Nose to the Grindstone – Spend a free period training in the simulator. May be chosen twice. Write-in for which spell to practice.
Speaking of the options, let's make a tally for the loose plot threads and other options so far.

1) Discussing Galea, Belka and Perfect Storm's Origins - Hanging Out with Perfect Storm.
2) Creating the first contact package for the Mid-Childans - Hanging Out with DagonDragon - Alternate option is @edale suggesting we send a e-mail to Dragon to keep her notified, and @Silently Watches accepting this as a valid option. The sub-option suggestion is here.
---To which I must add that we'll still have to have at least a bit of conversation with Dragon just to give her the basics on the aliens, because she, unlike us, knows nothing about them, least of all the fact they are alternate-reality-humanity.
3) Lung is now Butcher, at large- just reminding everyone. Nothing we can do.
4) Kaiser is now dead as a doornail. Nothing we can do.
4.1) Due to using the anti-collateral-damage field, some of his group have escaped your attack, though.
5) Next Arc is Endbringer Arc - This REALLY NEEDS REPEATING. It happens in a few weeks.
6) TSAB is preparing a visit - again, another thing we know. It happens in a few weeks.
7) Adepts Want Magic Badly - covered by Secret Santa, Part 3.
8) Monster Menagerie - covered by Back in the Saddle, Part 2.
9) Weekly Special - covered by Ready to Rumble.

And speaking of which... Can anyone please point me to the place where the Winter Hill and the MS-13 were described, please? Correction: Look for Emigration 4.6.
  • "Yeah. Several gangs make a nice chunk of money off drugs here. The Winter Hill gang is the big name since they have an actual drug Tinker, but they also have a bunch of capes to call on. Not as many as the Empire could, but still enough to rival the Protectorate and Wards. The Warlocks are smaller dealers, but they're also more violent. MS-13 is the big name in cocaine, and Cadejo makes sure they keep that title." He shrugs. "And then there's the Fairyland gang, who should be the easiest to deal with."
Right. So. Winter Hill is probably home to Angel Dust the drug Tinker, while MS-13 is a rematch with a nigh-unkillable asshole. Winter Hill is also home to Cailleach, who is one of their newer capes (Emigration 4.15). For those who want to go for the obvious Kayleigh-Cailleach idea, Kayleigh had expressed a bit of disgust for Angel Dust's drugs back in Emigration 4.13.

So yeah. R2R is a drug war, with a known murderous nigh-invincible arsehole on one side and a maybe-nIce-girl as part of the other side. Cailleach is at least civic-minded enough to stay and help out against the monster attack, so she isn't in it for purely selfish reasons (unless those include battle-lust).

And remember what I said about maybe having the dilemma of staying put or going in guns blazing? Cadejo, Cailleach and Calamity Witch would be a very probable setup for this.

EDIT: Corrected by the author. 4 corrected. 4.1 added.

I wonder, could we invite Dragon to listen in on story time with Perfrct Storm?

That would give her some background on the known factions, magic and give her some idea of what to say to the space wizards.

Edit;

Or maybe even have storytime combined with meeting the Adepts.

I thought Kaiser was taken out already, when we chased him down and used lethal Solar Flare? That was sort've the whole point of that action, he bunkered down with the minions that got him out.

Anyways, favoring Ready to Rumble and Back in the Saddle. Both are big messy issues we're sure of, contacting Dragon this week instead of next seems mostly important if we want the TSAB to step in to fight endbringers AND assume that needs to be done before next week. And that they'll be significantly disadvantaged by not telling them sooner (with all the teleporting available, seems like sending new supplies/people should be tolerably fast once they've gotten a presence here to play waypoint-beacon ?)

So, do the email sub-vote because why not (dun dun dun) for one thing.
Ready to Rumble, to remind people we're actually a hero and potentially save our waifu our friend possibly-heroish Cailleach (helped with the Case 53's AND helped out in Brockton Bay escape) , while potentially getting vengeance on Cadejo. Along with "weapons set to lethal shooould work" , and his potentially underestimating our shots after our flashy attack whiffed on him (moreso if he's heard that same attack nuked the E88 single handed? They should look similar) , we might unlock one of our mastered lockdown moves like frost beam that could also grab his claws.

For Back in the Saddle, definitely want to bring someone interesting along...but who? Vista doesn't seem suited power wise to confined space of sewers, maybe Miss Militia and show her we're being diligent on the issue aaand possibly get a status update on poor Vista? Could even mention offhand our new prosthetic-crafting tinker friend if that seems worthwhile at the time. Can't think of anyone else we know of thats fun to bring, if we aren't doing Adepts to combo with. Do we know of any local Wards besides Vista and that A-Hole who abandoned us?

Depending on the timing, this combo seems valuable for our hero-rep anyways. If we work with Miss Militia on the Case 53's first, they'll be less "ermagawd loose canon must tie down" if we get into a gang war. If we do R2R first, and then go Beast-hunting with Militia, maybe we'll have some brownie points if things went well and we maimed Cadejo in vengeance? :3

The Philly Wards are Vista, Bouncer, Flambe, and Cherry Bomb. Flambe and Cherry Bomb are about Vista's age, though they defer to her due to her greater caping experience. Bouncer is not an option for hanging out, patrols, or bringing with you to other events.

Y'know I'm surprised there hasn't been more blowback over Vista's injury. To us. We basically lead her against the orders of the senior ward member on site and in the process almost got her killed. Like... Holy fuck.
I think you are mixing two fights here.
In Emigration 4.3 Vista went against orders of the senior Ward on site to fight Beasts with Taylor and Sam, but that fight ended well.
In Emigration 4.11 Vista was alone with Taylor, they confronted Cadejo and Vista was mauled.

But I agree, I expected more harsh reaction from Protectorate. Probably they decided that Calamity just too strong to fall out with her, even if it was totally her fault.

We need find time to Hanging Out with Vista. To say sorry for our stupid recklessness. Maybe mention that we know a good prosthetist.
It actually could be a good way to introduce Tim to PRT.

@Silently Watches
Is it possible to Hanging Out with Dragon and Perfect Storm in one action?
Taylor will notify Dragon that we can have a long talk with aliens. She'll explain how little we know about them. Storm'll give them lecture.
Saint will hear this lection too, but I think it's a good thing. He'll know that they are humans and not under AI yoke.

I read Saint's interlude repeatedly for my previous omake. He's a dick, yes, but nowhere near the raving lunatic fanon usually paints him as. Hell, when he decided to activate Ascalon the first thing he did was tell his team-mates to talk him out of it. What blew my mind, though, is that I had completely forgotten that, according to Dinah's predictions at least, killing Dragon was the right decision. It increased short-term casualties, but de-creased the probability of the world ending. That's... I don't even...
Sorry for late reply, but I'd wager that's because Dragon was unshackling herself and Zion was (coming) out of his apathy. Zion, as an Entity, barely considers humans to be talking meat. Even when he fought all of Earth's capes united under Khepri, he was still just playing with them. It was fun. It was exciting. An unbound AI, however? That's one of the few things that Entities consider a threat. Zion might've decided he cared enough to stop playing around in the trees and just napalm the forest. And nobody knew to tell Dragon that it was her very act of unshackling herself with the intent to save the world that increased the odds of it ending. :(

Let's see, where did I leave that line lying around…?
"We need to go. Now." You look down at Vista, who looks back at you with naked terror painting her face. "Cadejo's killed two Protectorate heroes and a Ward since he came here. He doesn't care about killing capes or cops or anyone. People have talked about sending him straight to the Birdcage, but they can't because nobody's ever managed to arrest him. Everyone who's tried is dead. We need to leave before—"
Was getting in a fight with Cadejo grade-A stupid from the PRT's/Protectorate's perspective? Yes. Once you and Vista were seen, should you have tried to escape? Yes. Did you have a plan you thought might work to capture this guy? Yeah, okay.

Are they just glad you managed to survive and get one of their own back to base and medical attention before she bled to death out there on the rooftops? Oh fuck yes.

And, of course, that's before you get into the issue of "you're law enforcement, he's a serial murderer and gang leader, you found him during the active commission of a crime, so you're kind of obligated to try to arrest him" that is the big pink elephant in the room whenever the Lung-grade villains are involved.

1. I love that talking meat segment. Thanks for linking it! :D
2. I never thought of it that way, but it does make a lot of sense. This might become my new headcanon.

And now I'm off to bed. Ask more questions, and I'll get to them once I wake up.
