Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

That is why I am amenable to combining A Dragon's Hoard Part 3 and Picking Up the Pieces Part 3 into a single timeslot. It won't happen right after the MRI for the simple reason that the MRI isn't the entirety of ADH 2.
So delay PutP3 for now, and party, then do PutP3+ADH3 together and something else next week? Sounds like a plan, and shiny grabbing!

I'm a little surprised we didn't include the conversation we had with the guy over the radio.
That would be a little much for Dragon to swallow right now. The magic and the aliens in general is pushing her boundaries enough as it is. Let her accept that before saying "Oh yeah, and I talked to one of those aliens, too. Apparently they're coming by to pick up their ship sooner or later".

And from a subquest point of view, ADH is about building a relationship with Dragon while PutP is about the alien aspect. I'm willing to combine them in Part 3, but not Part 1. That's too much too fast.

Anyways! Where was I? Oh yes.
Mostly repost from SB:
Saint is prooobably flipping out a little. Meanwhile, Dragon probably isn't sure what to think about this in general. On the one hand, AI! On the other hand, Magic?

...

[jknotyet]Point out to Dragon that parahuman powers beat the laws of reality over the head all the time anyways, and that so far 'magic' has mostly just been weird physics-like stuff. Except Samantha, and that could be like, a really ancient macro or something. You're not going to be traveling to Camelot or pulling out swords from the stone or punching people into ducks anytime soon.

:V

ALSO: 100% chance that someone or something crashes the party.

...I mean, we could have a SOCIAL KOMBAT encounter, but when does that ever happen?

I wasn't here for most of the discussion on the last vote, so I might have missed this information, but Saint is active, so since he's actively monitoring Dragon, haven't we now spilled the Whole Truth to him as well? I guess this is metagaming, since there's no way Taylor knows this, but it's important enough that it should be discussed, I think.

Also, party is a good idea.

We did. Waaaaaaay before the last vote even. The conclusion was that not only did the benefits of Dragon's help and Perfect Storm helping Dragon outweighed the consequences of Saint potentially going after us/Dragon, but Saint would be very interested in meeting the TSAB/Perfect Storm's makers, since they've solved the AI danger. And we could totally own Saint.

"Intel— You're an artificial intelligence. And not a simple one, either, are you?"

«Correct. Complex intelligence and problem-solving capabilities are required to assist my mage as per design. Emotional capabilities necessary to understand user's priorities. Full intelligence was deemed the most efficient solution.»
Bemusement: Hello Saint. Hello mild cardiac arrest. We should probably get him some help. Maybe? Hello? No, he's dead. Crap.

Oh okay cool. I mostly just read the updates and hardly ever participate in the discussion, tbh, so stuff like this is easy to miss.

You're right about being able to own Saint, though. The problem is, if push came to shove, would we be able to own him fast enough before he triggers Ascalon? Especially if he's like, really far away?

if we can pinpoint the powersource of his armor we can rust shooter it and strip him of his ability to communicate at long range.

And we can direct Perfect Storm to assist/save Dragon in that course of event, alternatively.

Obviously, so-called "the TSAB" is totalitarian regime of AIs oppressing poor aliens. Perfect Storm don't try to conquer world only because of its amnesia.
Thankfully Earth is protected by brave Dragonslayers! They are already gearing up to eliminate existential threat appropriately named "Calamity Witch".

Can we all just agree to never, EVER, use the words "strip" and "him" in close vicinity while discussing Saint?

But forbidden love between brave anti-AI crusader and accursed AI-lover witch! I ship it. not really

Also, I very like this. It's just so stupid when people who can shoot homing lasers, fly, warp space and so on, and so on, start talking about how their powers are scientific and telepathy is impossible and magic is not exist... Ugh.

Might I suggest that we take the Party option since it will be really good for Taylor's mental health, not to mention allowing her to be a normal girl for a change, but also because it builds a bond with a normal human who might be a candidate for the Engineer template.

Eh, it wasn't that hard really, if you arrived at AIs naturally and have the social and technological base to have the full gradient.
You build them so that their natural desired state is coexistence anyway.

Also as AI tech levels go, Dragon is higher level than TSAB AI technology. Intelligent devices are task oriented and bound to a specific computing subtrate(technically this is a given, Dragon's ability to host herself on ordinary computer systems and server farms is borderline magic), that they cannot expand or modify on their own. Unison Devices are roughly near human performance level artificial constructs, and develop at similar rates to humans, while by design needing a human mage to achieve maximum effectiveness.

Closest thing to Dragon would be the original Book of Darkness before it got corrupted. Iteratively self improving knowledge base independent of any specific humans for operation. And it was safe! Until some lunatic hacker decided that it would be more useful if it was designed for Fight.

But Saint doesn't need to know any of that.;)

What I'm wondering if taking the Picking up the Pieces at the end of arc will leave us in that weakened state after using the radio just before arc ending "battle royal" starts

How much memory does Perfect Storm have? Is it possible to, say, capture an instance of Dragon and save her for reupload later? It would be very convenient if, say, Saint activated Ascalon.exe and believed he killed Dragon, only for her to be reuploaded from a snapshot we took and saved.

Who is to say that Saint just doesn't use Ascalon again at that point? And depending on the time that instance is kept hidden/dormant, she would be very out of date info-wise.
