"I didn't say that. You just shouldn't come as independents." The fairy woman takes a fortifying breath. "What do you know about corporate cape teams?"
Waitaminute...
Interestingly, Dragon does not immediately argue against Laura's points. Instead she just smiles innocently. "You're probably right about that. It's a good thing that was not the kind of company I had in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of one whose primary business is weapons development for the military and the PRT alongside other military-industrial pursuits. A company for whom hiring scary capes would be seen as a boon rather than a concern. And one that would be able and willing to provide legal protections in a worst case scenario. If you really plan on fulfilling your threat to hunt monsters, collateral damage is a distinct possibility, and having legal aid available and paid for by the company hiring you would be a nice safety net."
Is she...?
The fairy Tinker rolls one shoulder in a negligent shrug. "Oh, just a little Canadian company called Dragontech."
Yup. Honestly' I was wondering when she'd ask something like this. It's somewhat of a natural extension of her hiring Tim, but for different purposes. I'm not seeing a whole lot of downsides, other than maybe a loss of some of the team's agency, but it also opens up possibilities for action that wouldn't be available to us. Probably the biggest issue would be that we would still have to be a Lot more careful about things than we have been, and especially no shooting off Breaker level spells, even during Endbringer Fights, unless the situation has already crossed the Godzilla Threshold, since our actions would reflect back more directly on Dragon than our informal association has caused to this point.
It's probably a bigger step than a lot of people are thinking it is, since in not only more officially formalizes our team, but "legitimizes" us in a way that being somewhat maverick independents hasn't, even if we literally brought the Simurgh Fallen's heads to the PRT's doorstep. On the other hand, that "Legitimization" also brings us one step closer into the net of Cape Politics, since any "Accidents" in the line of Glory Girl's "Use of Force" issue we may or may not have can be brought directly to Dragon for Liability Claims, instead of us simply vacating the scene and lying low for a week or two to let the heat die down.
I'm undecided on this, so anyone else with more articulate arguments for or against, let's hear them.
"What do you mean, 'have to do commercials'?" demands Kayleigh. "It's more like, 'can we be in the commercials please'."
And of course this is the response she would have.
Though honestly, I'm more on Laura's side here. If we more formally join Dragontech, and Kayleigh still wants to be the public face of the team and star in commercials, I don't think we should stop her, but if others don't want to they should have the option to sit out unless absolutely necessary.

Chapter stuff & Vote:
"The next two are also Brockton Bay specials even if they're technically Gesellschaft operatives." Two screens take the place of the previous one. The screen on the left shows a male figure in an all-concealing white outfit while the right screen shows a woman in a black version of the same costume. "Fog and Night. Both Breakers, Fog turns himself into a cloud of toxic smoke while Night becomes a highly lethal blender of a monster whenever she is out of eyesight. They work well together for that reason, Fog hiding Night within himself so she can kill without anyone ever seeing her."
I could have sworn these two were taken in when we convinced Purity to turn herself in. She recommended they be sent into Psychiatric Care instead of normal Prison, which for Parahumans probably means the Parahuman Asylum, which isn't much different from a prison from everything I've heard, just with head-doctors in addition to the guards. I don't think we ever found out if they went there or not, but either way, it seems like Gesellshaft probably sprung them for their Philly operation. /le-sigh...

I'm thinking we should use our teams to round out the Pentagram squads. The only cape we know where they "Might" be we already know is really frustrating to go up against, and Gestalt was no pushover either despite everything. There's just too many unknowns in this fight, so sending in more balanced teams is probably the lesser of evils over more heavily weighting a team on the chance of them stomping a group they have type-advantage over.
The PRT Teams already look pretty balanced, but could still use some boosts. We know that the Wolfhead capes tend to have a significant leaning towards the more brute-y side of the powers lottery, so I think the Strikers and Defenders are going to be the keys to success in locking the enemy capes down here, with the ranged, support and stealth strikers being the ones creating the needed openings to bring everyone down.
The office team doesn't look like they have a real "Speedster", and they're the lightest PRT team to boot, going into where they think the enemy's leader will be, and therefore the most likely to be the best guarded. Swords can accelerate with their abilities, but it's a ramp-up, not a burst, and they're better as heavy hitting Strikers. Taylor is probably a good choice to send in here since she's ironically one of the most well rounded of our roster in terms of her capabilities, in addition to being one of our heaviest hitters. I'd also say keep her and Sam together on this one, as another striker, and one with more experience than their own GBot-Sword. Laura would be another good addition as a counterpoint to Taylor's abilities and as another Striker in anticipation of the heavier resistance.
The sporting goods store team doesn't look like they have any real speed strikers either, but they're better off than the others in their overall composition, I think. The one thing they're really missing that the other teams have is someone who can be spedi-sneky, so I say send Missy in on this one as a dart-striker, and she can summon in Anubis as another heavy striker to round out their weaker striker composition overall.
The construction store team looks like the weakest link overall, with only one combat-striker. They have a lot of support and stealth capability, but their range specialist is also Over-specialized to the sniping role. Send in Kayleigh, Sarah and Cat Sith on this one
