Guys, we already have a vacation planed after dealing with the Fallen. Let's Taylor have some fun before we hit her again with the trauma train.
Show me once where Taylor has used Bind as an offensive measure rather than to hold opponents she's already neutralized in some other way.It seems we couldn't be bothered with the couple of seconds needed for a Bind
Samantha is a raccoon, not a blood hound. I don't remember ever having her track anybody by scent.
I feel like another character said recently that Taylor's become very accustomed to running with the big dogs…It seems she's starting to forget other people don't have awesome overwhelming powers like she has.
FTFY."Oh, it's a cape, a member of a violent Neo-Nazi gang... and he's running away from me like a scared little kid. Something doesn't feel right about all this."
He could not have given you a more perfect opportunity. Dropping from the rafter, you swing your staff and ignite the glowing scythe of Flare Blade.
"Shit!"
You raise your blade, but the cape is not attacking. He turns around and runs out the doorway, but as he has forgotten to shrink back down to normal size, what happens is that the top half of his body rips through the wall above the door.
I was actually just about to look for that GIF.
I mean... that's kind of valid? Especially with the way the SV group has kind of disregarded anyone with less than an A rank core as 'useless in a fight' Taylor's kind of forgotten that not everyone can shrug off small arms fire.It seems she's starting to forget other people don't have awesome overwhelming powers like she has.
"I didn't think I was that scary," you say after a second. Especially not to a cape whom you have never fought before.
Edit: wait. We didn't even capture him? Really? A nonlethal shooter would have been enough to put him down.
You know, if this is Theo then why is he in the gang in the first place? IIRC in canon he wanted as far away as he could get from gangs and shit.
Purity's power is too distinctive to rebrand effectively, so they're doubling down on the redemption story and making it public that she surrendered, begged for a chance to make things right, is essentially in house arrest when not working under direct Protectorate supervision. Basically "yes she was a villain and is now working as a hero, but we aren't giving her a free pass on anything".@Silently Watches Did Purity rebrand when she joined the Protectorate? Did crusader join the Protectorate, too? I'm thinking bringing them in once we find out* that these are from BB might save a few people who would otherwise be going down with these Wolfheads.
How?
I mean yeah he's not on the same scale of infamy as Purity, but his power is pretty distinctive. If anything it's more so than yet another flying blaster.
I have a minute, so I want to add on to my previous off the cuff comments. I'm well aware this was not the best chapter I've ever written. The last two weeks have quite frankly been shit, so I wanted to get SOMETHING out. That isn't the same thing as scrapping together the focus or mental energy for a protracted chase screen, so thus there isn't one.
I think his ghosts essentially copy what he is wearing when he creates them? Not sure if it ever comes up in the story. So changing his costume would also change his ghosts.
I believe Eidolon's response to that has been "I wouldn't even if I could" since he was sour that he didn't get even a D rank core like Alexandria. You know I just had a thought. Now that we are working on a serum to produce Linker votes. It might be worth it to give a batch to Eidolon. It would buy us some goodwill, give him something he desperately wants (the ability to be relevant again) and be proof of concept for mass distribution for the PRT.
A problem with that is Taylor really doesn't like Eidolon. He was extremely condescending in their one meeting and any relations with him have been soured. And if you're trying to advertise that your product gives superpowers, don't pick the guy who can generate superpowers by himself. He'd probably just deny ever getting weak and needing a new form of power and just claim that his powers had second triggered into a new form.
He could be lying about the amount of clones he can make and their limitations. He could be saying he can only summon one copy of himself that can't pass through walls or "disappears" when it goes too far from him. He could go for the mover route and keep his clones within his skin, that's something he could do. Without ever letting any clone of himself outside of the limits of his own body, he could appear as a mover with limited flight and the ability to strike at people through any defense. How?

Pretty much this, yeah, except not quite so politely put by him.I believe Eidolon's response to that has been "I wouldn't even if I could" since he was sour that he didn't get even a D rank core like Alexandria.
I may be mistaken but didn't he refuse to even be scanned? So unless WoG said something I didn't see I don't think we know his core size. And even if we do he doesn't. Unless I'm completely misremembering.I believe Eidolon's response to that has been "I wouldn't even if I could" since he was sour that he didn't get even a D rank core like Alexandria.

@Silently Watches. Out of curiosity if Eidolon were to lose his powers what happens to the current EB's?

Well, we didn't vote to use bind, so it won't be used. Not that we had any clue it would be useful given how this seemed to come out of nowhere and we were not asked for a plan.We don't have a cape we let him run off like an idiot because... reasons? It seems we couldn't be bothered with the couple of seconds needed for a Bind, or that somehow Sam's nose stopped working and she can't track him.
You are misremembering. He was scanned, and found not to have a core. At the time, we also scanned Legend, with a negative result, but Alexandria walked out before we could scan her. When that came up later, we scanned her and found a d rank core.
That's kind of an unfair question, since we explicitly need to vote to use Bind and have not gotten a combat vote where it would be an effective way to start.Show me once where Taylor has used Bind as an offensive measure rather than to hold opponents she's already neutralized in some other way.

Mostly this, the ghosts are copies of him. There are several duplicator powers in canon, so by changing his costume he can pass it off as a similar but unrelated power.I think his ghosts essentially copy what he is wearing when he creates them? Not sure if it ever comes up in the story. So changing his costume would also change his ghosts.
Not a thing.@Silently Watches. Out of curiosity if Eidolon were to lose his powers what happens to the current EB's?
My point is that going for binds up front is not Taylor's MO, not as it's developed over the course of this quest. That's kind of an unfair question, since we explicitly need to vote to use Bind and have not gotten a combat vote where it would be an effective way to start.

All you've done here is prove my point. If all the fights Taylor has been in have been ones where Ring Bind would be useless as an opening move, she has zero reason to turn to it as a first choice in a fight. And one of those fights was an Endbringer, while the another was a kill order on the E88. Just how many times have we been in a situation where using a single Ring Bind made sense?
Honestly, ring bind as a regular tool isn't really a priority for Taylor because she hasn't had to fight mages regularly. If she'd had to fight mages as regular opponents she'd learn to love using binds. Pretty much all high level mages mix in binds because at the level they fight at even a few seconds it takes for the opponent to break the bind (with those that know how to anyways) could decide the fate of the fight. All you've done here is prove my point.
