Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[1] Night Sisters
[2] Arcana
[3] Judgement Guard

I think Night Sisters is perhaps a bit edgy, but nothing compared to Judgement Guard... I think it's the Guard that gets me more than the Judgement bit actually. Arcana is just bland, but an unfortunate compromise most people aren't satisfied with, but will settle for.

Hm, honestly, most of the objections that people have for Judgement Guard is the Guard part. Hell, I think I'd prefer just Judgement instead of Judgement Guard, speaking as a person that voted for Judgement Guard.

@Silently Watches any chance we can just drop Guard from Judgement Guard?

Also, would the team name being 'Judgement' be sufficiently edgy yet not overly so for the purpose of having the same impact/fitting our debut to the world?

Judgement Guard, Hex Girls, and Night Sisters would all fit beautifully. They all have some edge. The other team names are more neutral. It's why I didn't want anything corny or cutesy because it just WOULD NOT mesh.

I'm glad I checked in on this; Judgement Guard is going to seem very pretentious when acting as a distinct entity from formal law enforcement. Night Sisters isn't terrible, but will make things awkward if a guy ever joins, whereas Arcana does not in and of itself imply anything but 'magic.'

It's the sort of name that can more easily have the meaning associated with itself created by the team and their actions.

I'd like to recruit the no-longer-the-adepts, so night sisters is out, and arcana is to bland for my tastes, but otherwise unobjectionale, making this choice easy.

[2] Night Sisters
I think I talked long enough about my objections to Arcana.

While Arcana is a great hero team name, I don't actually think it fits as well as Judgement Guard would for the general tone of the story. PS and particularly IAE have been sneaking bits and pieces of Galean vernacular and culture into things, and it has been noted previously that Taylor's attitude was slowly taking on aspects of the original Calamity Witch's. In keeping with the trend of Taylor's slow evolution into ETERNALLY SOVEREIGN DARK EMPRESS OF THE GALEAN EMPIRE CALAMITY WITCH TAYLOR, either of the edgier names fit, but especially Judgement Guard as it invokes the idea of divinely appointed knights templar set to eradicate evil (who happen to wear the faces of the Endbringers, be they the actual kaiju or humans who take on their appearance).

All that to say, while Arcana is a great name on its own, I don't think it thematically fits the overarching direction Taylor has been moving since the start of the quest as well as Judgement Guard. Setting aside SW's statement on how it would be a fitting title for us come the retaliation against the Fallen.

Hmm. True.

Revising mine, then.

Also, we have a total missed opportunity for Night Sisters to have been Night Witches instead, named after the Soviet air force in WW2 made of of female pilots.

[2] Judgement Guard
[1] Night Sisters

I don't hate any of the three really, but its a tough choice for top two. Night Sisters I think fits a little better because its specifically Orianna Brevetti's personal unit yes, as well as being the Empress' bodyguard unit (or rather, it will retroactively be named such upon the vote :p ). Guard is sort've implied while Night has a liiiittle more edge and the female focus is an interesting quirk. Plus bonus Sabaton/ WW2 references

It really shouldn't be forgotten that Nanoha is in some sense a show about dogfighting with magical girl trappings as an afterthought :V :V If the car names weren't enough, check out some of the upgraded armor Nanoha and others wear in later parts of the series.

Sabaton's Night Witches , seriously check the lyrics and say that couldn't be rewritten mildly for Galean artillery-mages like Calamity.

Also, didn't you have to put a '#' in front of each of the numbers for Nettally to catch it as a ranked vote)?

Honestly, I think what I said before holds true: We could have the team name be Night Sisters or Judgement Guard, but sooner or later we'll grow beyond just a team. Being a true organization that'll influence the world should suit the name Arcana. A nice and neutral name that still describes what we are bringing to the world.

So, basically imagine the structure as:

Organization- Arcana
-Team: Night Sisters/Judgement Guard

Basically the overarching organization named Arcana but within said organization we have the flagship/big stick unit named Night Sisters or Judgement Guard. If only for efficiency sake we'll have to have different units as our group gets bigger.
