Green Sun, Black Shadows (CG/Exalted)

Obviously, the correct solution is to become paranoid that people might be trying reverse psychology on you, and thus you feel compelled to do what they actually asked for!

You can't social fu someone into it, but they can still choose to go along with what you say.
Otherwise, if someone asks you "pass me the butter" at the breakfast table, well, now you can never give them butter, which is ridiculous.
If it was an Ebon Dragon charm, not only would you not be able to give them butter, you would be obligated to destroy any butter they could potentially obtain.

Not really relevant, just a funny thought that occurred to me.

So, more on social focused Charms, how about Soul Crack Exploitation and Wicked Hateful Lies? Both seem great for all kinds of evil mind games that Lelouch is specialized in, Clovis being a good example of what kind of damage we can cause with the right words. And as we will likely be facing smarter and more strong-minded people in the future, these Charms should make our jobs much easier.

Drugs are no joke (GSP Akhekh by Enjou)
I decided to make a Defiler. One for the good old Ebon Dragon!

=====

Cairo, Egypt

Akhekh was only half paying attention to the jackass he was haggling with. The fucker thought just because he was a Britannian soldier and that Akhekh was one of the local conquered people who'd yet to be given a number to replace their ethnic identity that he could gouge him. Didn't matter though. Akhekh may have been disguised as a humble street merchant selling all kinds of herbal remedies and whatnot laid out on a sheet, but he'd have the last laugh.

Normally he'd ensure he got every last bit of money he could from such a mark, but he needed to concentrate on his targets right now. As such, he just agreed to the arrogant fuck's latest offer and exchanged goods for cash. Damn shame he couldn't completely fleece the gullible fuck completely, but given the supposed "wonder aphrodisiac" he was selling the idiot would actually leave him limp for months Akhekh would just have to be satisfied with the amusement he'd get from it.

What he was really paying attention to was the three nobles in the cafe across from him. Assholes were acting like they owned the place. Sure, they'd conquered the city, so maybe they did, but it still irked Akhekh to no end. The server he'd bribed was pouring them the tea they'd ordered, and then discreetly moved to the back of the shop, no doubt to run like fucking hell. The man would lose his job and be wanted, but Akhekh had given him enough money to make a new life and the contacts to get him and his family the hell out of the country, so it was all good. Akhekh had made a good reputation for himself as being reliable, so the man was more than willing to agree to his terms. Not many wanted to stick around and suffer under Britannia's oppression, even if news was that the war in the region was turning against them.

"Akhekh, I have a question."

"Sure, what's up?" he thought to his little passenger as he was discreetly watching the nobles drink their tea.

"Why do you call yourself Akhekh? I know it's not your given name, but you think of yourself as such. In the mythology of your country, doesn't that name refer to a great Serpent of Evil. Why think of yourself that way?"

Well, it wasn't something he liked to talk about, but his Coadjutor was someone he'd be very close with for a long time, so he supposed the little guy would find out sooner or later anyways. "Well, mainly it's because I sell drugs."

"I don't follow."

"Drugs aren't exactly a good thing, you know? My own family was ruined by opium, about ten years back. I ran away after my older brother overdosed. He was alright, but my deadbeat parents had changed after getting addicted. The environment was too toxic, so I got out of there. Before that, we were a happy family."

"Well then why would you sell drugs? I'd think you'd hate them."

"Why not?" Akhekh answered, shrugging mentally. "There are always people who want to get high. It's a good way to make money. Plus something about watching people destroy themselves fascinates some twisted part of me. I wanted to understand that, so I got into the business and learned everything I could. I guess I've got my own goal in mind too, but that's probably not happening for a while."

"Huh... well, I guess that's why he wanted you. Oh! It looks like the drug is taking effect."

It was. The three nobles were all having reactions. The one the demons had identified as a Fire Aspect who was some kind of low ranking general or something was having a particularly pronounced one, spasming on the floor as his Anima activated and burned the surrounding area. The Air Aspect's reaction was interesting, as she started proclaiming her undying love for the teacup she was holding. The Wood Aspect was the only failure in the bunch, but that was expected. He had activated his anima and became immune to the effects. The drug was mainly plant based, so the toxins weren't really have an effect.

Feigning concern just like everyone else on the street, he watched as the Fire Aspect eventually died from the drug's effects.

"Hmmm... the man died but the woman seems fine, even if she's high as a kite. I wonder what the difference between them are? Probably isn't gender... can't be sure though. Maybe it's a difference in their Essence due to being different aspects? I'll have to sneak into the morgue and get the autopsy report. I still haven't quite gotten a handle on these magical ingredients from Malfeas. Good test run for a first attempt, though. I can't wait to get into Hell and see what is on offer."

"A lot of things, I assure you. You'll also want to make a stop at the library of Orabilis - the knowledge to be found there is immense."

"Sweet!" He said as he packed up his wares. "I still have to meet Marshal Zero first though. I better check if the travel arrangements I've made are ready. From everything I've seen on the news and all you've told me, I'm sure it'll be quite fascinating to meet him."

a man who became a drug dealer, after his family was damaged by addiction. Yeah I can see the Ebon Dragon jumping at a chance to get somone like that. At least his motivation is to create a drug thats safe and non addictive.

The interactions between his Motivation and Urge are eyebrow-raising to me.

Not everyone is so lucky as to have an Urge that works well with their Motivation.

Still, his Urge only applies to the Dragonblooded and most of those are Britannian nobles, so he'd be aiming to create a drug that only affects them, or at least affects them much worse than it does other people. The Ebon Dragon is hoping that by addicting them to supernatural crack that is specially blended for them that the Reclamation will be able to control those Dragonblooded who would normally refuse to help - just get them hooked and they'll do anything, and the Infernals will be the only ones capable of supplying them with what they crave.

Also, as far as his personal motives go, he's been trying to make new drugs for years. Not a terrible lot of progress in the desired direction, really, but he's patient enough to make it work in spite of a few failures. Given he accepts that people will want to get high, he's more than willing to let certain types of people act as human trials for his new stuff. And hey, studying how to make someone with a specific Essence type addicted to something may help him discover how to make something that isn't addictive.

...He is going to be assigned into the same Circle (or whatever was the Infernal name for it was) as Slaanesh, isn't he? Because then you will have both a willing test subject and a source for raw materials for drugs, as I'm betting she will get Abundant Euphoria Apothecary as soon as possible so that she can make ALL THE DRUGS from her own body. Heck, maybe he will catch Hegra's attention, considering his skill focus.

And of course, while Akhekh has the skills to make the drugs, Slaanesh seems like someone who would excel at getting people actually addicted to them.

Hmm. Maybe we could also hook him up with Benezet so that he could draw inspiration from her garden and then figure out a way to mass-produce the resulting drugs? Or possibly throw our Muse -blessing his way at some point?

1. Maybe. It depends on how Alexander is going to have Covens assigned. And yes, Slaanesh would be good at getting people to take them, but keep in mind that this guy has Manipulation 5 and a good deal of social skills that are aimed at selling stuff - he doesn't strictly need her help in that regard. Once he's invented a drug, he could easily ensure other Covens are supplied if they make request. The Covens will support one another, after all.

2. Regarding him using Slaanesh as a test subject... he probably wouldn't. Akhekh is smart, and generally speaking doesn't touch his own product outside of occasional use of some pot or some other stuff that isn't too addictive or physically harming. Testing new and potentially deadly drugs on allies? Wouldn't happen. If anything that's a reason why Slaanesh being in his Coven would be a bad idea, as she might be tempted to test some of his new stuff without permission.

3. He'll probably unlock Hegra, yeah. And he would get Abundant Euphoria Apothecary himself, as that would help his research to a degree. Slaanesh-chan will also do that, as having drugs on demand would be something she'd like.

4. Like with pretty much any of the other crafters, we would definitely want to use the Muse of Unearthly Delights on him. Benezet on the other hand may not want to have him come over, as her plants grow only in her garden, being unique. If he started growing them elsewhere that could be a problem for her.

Huh, somehow I didn't notice that in the sheet. And it was already somewhat obvious in the omake when he manipulated the poisoning of DBs.

Custom Charms for Hegra might work. Being able to take ALL THE DRUGS, from the well-tested to experimental and still feeling fine in the following morning is something I could see fitting her themes. Maybe something that would let her ignore things like toxicity and informing about the effects it would have and only letting through those that the Infernal allows, while also numbing specific addictions for a stronger generalized addiction for drugs that can never be cured? Could also be followed with a Charm that would give bonuses from being high.

And now I have a mental image of Slaanesh munching on her own drug-hair. Exalted takes the mind to strange places.

Might be, but its possible she could be willing to bend a little as a one-time things for completing some tasks for her or otherwise doing something that pleases her. Besides, having someone with access to numerous unique ingredients allowing the production of unique drugs, poisons and other concoctions for particular situations could be quite useful, even if this isn't directly helpful for completing either of Akhekh's Motivation or Urge.

So I have an idea for a malefactor of the ebon dragon. A dishonest recruiter, who is a dedicated family man and a horrific monster to everybody else. He's also a coward. He joins for ambition and money, as well as safety for regathering his scattered family.

Unfortunately, I'm away from a proper keyboard, so a true write up will have to wait.

New Arrivals 1.2
September 9th

"I was skeptical when I saw it on the old maps, but this place really exists." You comment with vague scientific curiosity as you walk around the large room hidden between Ashford Academy's maintenance sewers.

"Wo-oh!" Akio whistles, playfully elbowing the one on his left. "Nate! Look, look: a waterfall! Underground! Britannians are crazy!"

"Not all of them, I assure you." The brunette, who's real name is Nathan, grunts. "I mean, I think I see how it can work properly...but the design was purposely gaudy. Which is a waste."

"Grandfather bought the ground the Academy is standing on after the war." Milly explains, followed by the Anuhles and the Britannian cultists, who are using the only elevator to bring down equipment. "I don't know what it was used for before, but considering my family's former trade it was probably something industrial or military." She looks at her phone, the tip of her tongue sticking sideway. "The sewers were from back then. I think. There is a '1999' next to them."

"The history of this place is, ultimately, irrelevant." You make a sweeping gesture, letting your cape flap. "Its usefulness for us is what matters. It can be enlarged, providing space enough for a base, laboratory and much more. Furthermore-" You point down. "It is possible to dig down, connecting it to Japan's old tunnel system. Which was never dismantled, and is frequently used by the various resistance groups to move around undetected."

"You want to hide in the Settlement? Right under the Viceroy's nose?" Nathan's eyes widen, before looking around. "Even if you can do that, we need more space for the Knightmares."

"True. However, to store and move them around it will suffice. To build them I am considering some other options. Luckily, the Black Knights' activities helped to put a lot of properties back on the market at reduced prices." You tap the side of your head. "This reminds me: Akio, Nathan, your formal introduction is tonight. I trust you remember what to do and what not to do?"

"Don't mention anything weird! And if someone asks, just ignore them and change topics!" Akio does a thumb-up. "Don't worry Zero: I am pretty good at both!"

"Don't I know it?" Nathan rolls his eyes.

"Very good. Uhm?" Feeling your cell-phone vibrates you take it out. Reading the message you smile under the mask. "Well, this is a fortuitous coincidence."

"What it is?"

"Rakshata is also arriving tonight. Kaguya too, and she's bringing the Guren."

{====}

Contrary to your worst previsions the introduction of your fellow Infernals went well. It also helped that you made it so Kallen was among the first to interact with them, so everyone thought twice before making a comment about Brits or whatever to avoid raising 'unfortunate' questions.

Also, Tamaki and Akio hit it off immediately. Who would have thought?

The radio crackles to life. You listen for a few seconds. "Roger that. Ladies and gentlemen!" You call upon everyone's attention. "The main guests have arrived!"

A few minutes later a Knightmare transporter drives inside the base, followed by a limousine. The drivers immediately go to open the truck, revealing what lies inside.

You immediately see the similarities with the white Knightmare in the less bulky, streamlined form compared to the Sutherland. However the cockpit and the torso are covered in brass, and the black right arm gleams with what is without a doubt Malfean black iron. The red Knightmare positively glows with Essence, though only you can see it.

"Woah..." Kallen stares at the machine with awe. "What is that?"

"The Guren MK-II. The vanguard of Japan's hope." Someone responds to the redhead's question.

Kaguya steps out of the limousine and walks towards you, followed closely by Rakshata. "It's good to see you again, Zero-dono."

"Likewise. Kaguya-sama." You tilt your head forward. "Rakshata. Allow me to introduce my soldiers. No! My comrades: the Black Knights!" You sweep your cape to the side, embracing in one gesture the gathered BKs.

"Good evening." Kaguya graciously greets them. "My name is Sumeragi Kaguya. I am a member of the Six Houses of Kyoto."

Many eyes widen in surprise.

"First, I want to compliment you for your efforts and astounding results. I know you have many questions and may feel overwhelmed by the recent events. Sadly there is information that cannot be shared lightly, lest it ends up in the wrong hands. But rest assured." She smiles. "I can confirm your actions are for the good of Japan and all nations that suffer under the yoke of Britannia. I believe Zero-dono is the man that will defeat Britannia." You look at each other and nod. "And if he trusts you, so I will."

"Damn, she's smooth." Seyrun comments as everyone begin to cheer for Kaguya. "Almost as good at you."

'Why, thank you. Even if I think in some ways she's better.' Your attention shifts to the Guren and then to Rakshata. "So this is your masterpiece? It's different from other Frames, that's for sure."

"Of course. Specialization is the key." She replies. "So Zero, where's my pilot?"

Wordlessly you point to Kallen, who 'eeps'.

"Mh, mh. I see, I see." Rakshata hums while walking around Kallen with an appreciating gaze.

"Uhm..." The redhead fidgets. "Sorry, but who a-Aaah!" Then she yelps when Rakshata grabs her sides from behind.

"Good." The Indian scientist comments before switching to her thighs.

"Aaah!"

"Good."

Then her shoulders.

"Aaah!"

"Good."

You have to look away when she switches to Kallen's...posterior.

"Iiih!!"

"Good, good."

Akio puts a hand around your shoulder, grinning like the madman he is. "Zero buddy: your little group is the best group ever."

"Kallen, was it?" After she's done Rakshata grins, Kallen staying a good distance away blushing like a tomato, hands covering her bust and crotch. "From now on, you're mine."

The redhead's response is a string of curses and swear words you honestly have never heard before.

{====}

"I like this pilot. She got spunk."

"I would call that 'righteous indignation'. Please avoid molesting my subordinates." Once the door is closed you sit down at your desk and remove your mask. "Akio, Nathan, meet two members of my Coven: Malefactor Sumeragi Kaguya and Defiler Rakshata Chawla."

"Yosh!" Akio grins. "Name's Murakami Akio, Slayer of the Principle of Hierarchy! Nice to meet you!"

"Nathan Coultier." The brunette bows. "Defiler of Elloge."

"Then you're with me." Rakshata and Nathan shake hands. "I will say this now, there are two rules when working under me: one, when we work together we do as I say." She grins, putting the pipe in her mouth. "Two, if you have a personal project you can use the equipment, but only in your free time. You okay with that?"

"Oh! Sure!" Nathan replies, a bit intimidated. "I have a goal, and I want to reach it with my own strength alone."

She slaps his back. "That's the spirit!"

"I am sure there will be plenty of time to get to know each other better. Now, however, I want to discuss a couple of matters. Please take a seat." When everyone is seated down you address Rakshata. "I must say I am impressed with the Guren. Can you tell me more about it?"

"My baby is one of a kind." She says proudly. "I combined standard Knightmare Frame technology, my expertise in cybernetics and schematics of First Age Warstriders to make it, using Hell's materials. Don't be fooled by the outer plating: there is nothing in this world that can destroy it."

"I guess the right arm is special?"

"It is. It's actually something I hypothesized in my college days and perfected by using one of Akito's Charms as inspiration. The name of the weapon stored in the palm is called [Radiant Wave Surger], and when used on another Knightmare it will fry all electronics and melt it into slag." She shrugs. "For now direct contact is necessary. I'm still working on a long ranged version."

"Sweet! I want one too!" Akio loudly declares.

"Sure. Let me gather some data and I will make you a custom frame." She frowns lightly. "I suppose it's still too early to use Hellstriders, yes?"

"Afraid so. Best to not tip off the Sidereals." You tell her. "Kaguya, were there any troubles with General Smilas?"

"Only at the beginning. Convincing him wasn't easy, but he eventually grew intrigued by my proposal. The real problem was those members of the Council of Forty that needed to authorize the whole operation." She smiles. "So I had Akito-san put me in contact with the local cults, and used them to collect blackmail materials on those members. They folded on very quickly afterwards."

'Oh yes, she makes for a very good ally.'

"But among what they found there are also troubling news." Her smiles vanishes. "Lelouch-sama, you may have heard the war against the Middle East Federation had turned against Britannia. This is partially thanks to the Anti-KF weapons made by Rakshata-san, but the real reason is another: Solars have begun to appear among their military."

Everyone's attention is instantly focused on the Japanese girl. "Are you sure?"

"Yes. They are also aided by Lunars, probably those who elected Africa as their domain. This has made the European Dragonblooded Clans wary, but they have yet to move. I believe they hope Britannia will take care of them, or that the Solars will defeat Britannia..."

"Greatly damaging their common enemy, while also allowing them to destroy the 'Anathema' while they're tired from fighting." You tsk. "Clever. It's only logical that Solars would flourish more in non-Britannian territories...who is spearheading the MEF's campaign?"

"Cornelia Li Britannia."

Your fingers, who were tapping on the desk, stop for a few seconds before resuming their movements. "I see." 'What a curious quandary: I cannot decide which is more advantageous to me, Britannia's victory or the MEF's victory.'

"It's too much to ask for both of them to eliminate each other, eh?"

'Yes, it is.' "There isn't much we can do at this point. Rakshata did a good job, but there are too many uncertainties to risk interfering at this point." You decide. "How are the current relations between Britannia and the EU?"

"Very tense. The Britannian Prime Minister is playing peacemaker, but his efforts are working slowly."

You snap your fingers. 'Schneizel!'

"Aaah, I don't get it!" Akio says in a carefree manner. "But the EU is on the other side of the world, while Japan is right here. Why don't we just aim at the closest one?"

You resist the urge to gape. 'Did Akio...say something intelligent?'

"It's a miracle! Glory to the Yozi! ...Just in case."

"True, true." Kaguya nods sagely. "On the same note, the W-0 Unit is going to reach Japan tomorrow night. Akito-san and Malcal-san picked up two new Peers on their way there."

"Where?" You ask.

"Hokkaido. They'll reach Russia by plane before switching to a submarine. I have already ordered a fake attack to distract the local base and for infiltrators to sabotage the sonar systems."

"As magnificent as always Kaguya." The black-haired girl beams at your praise. You pick up the mask and put it on. "We better move immediately if we want to be on time. I trust no one mind losing a few hours of sleep?"

"Sure! I haven't slept since my Exaltation anyway. I always have nightmares when I sleep. But no matter how much I stay up, I never get tired." Akio whispers in a conspiratory tone. "I think someone's drugging me! And I bet it's those damn vampires!"

You mentally count to ten. When you are sure you aren't going to shoot the moron by instinct you open your mouth and say, as blandly as possible: "Actually, that's the effect of one of Malfeas's Charms: you don't need to sleep anymore."

"Really? Sweet!"

"Vampires?" Kaguya blinks owlishly.

You sigh while resting your head on your hand. This will take a looong time.

Oh Akio you stupidly useful moron. His Coadjutor's damage really is annoying isn't it? We have to tell him stuff that he should already know or be able to find out on his own ourselves.

First meeting with the 'new' Peers to happen soon?

Second, actually. The last story post was the first meeting with the first of the new Peers to arrive, Nathan.

Interesting. Solars are involved as well, eh?

You resist the urge to gape. 'Did Akio...say something intelligent?'

"It's a miracle!
Stopped Clock and all that.

"Vampires?" Kaguya blinks owlishly.
Poor Kaguya. She's going to be exposed to a lot of Akio's idiocy.

Nice update. I knew Akio and Tamaki would get along. Birds of a feather and all that.

And multiple Solars appearing in the MEF is interesting. We'll have to deal with them eventually, one way or another, but for now they're distant enough that they're Britannia's problem. My guess is that Schneizel will eventually be assigned to deal with them if Cornelia isn't able to attain victory.

So that's why you asked me what Akio thought about the effects of NFV! :D
