Heh, I like the fact that although Enjou and I came up with our descriptions separately, they both click really well together.
I would, respectfully, disagree. The Lelouch you are talking about is one who lost everything. He lost nunnaly, who is the most central person in his life. The lelouch of then, of the zero requiem, is a very different character to the lelouch of now. For one, he has Milly, someone who he can rely on, who he can tell everything too. In Canon he had C.C. at best, who was unreliable and held secrets of her own. It is possible he could come to embody more Malfean traits, but that could be reflected in the soul's development. As he is now, it is before even the true development of the black hand. Hells bells, it's not even episode two! He is all about lies and subtly, as that is what is keeping him, and more importantly Nunnaly alive.I like this sort of method, but I'd like to point out that the Malfean aspects of Lelouch aren't really small or less important than the EB aspects. We're talking about a guy who engineered a world wide war, murdered children, betrayed anyone and everyone who ever cared about him (barring C.C.) all to play out his gambit and create world peace by uniting the world in hatred against him. Like I advocated earlier; Lelouch's malfeasan arrogance/massive ego isn't in direct regards to himself, but in his actions. He justifies a ton of atrocities, alienates almost everyone he cares about, and a whole bunch of war crimes for "the greater good", even with the Zero Requiem Lelouch still saw himself as the good guy doing what had to be done. You can't actually have a character even resembling canon Lelouch without that overwhelming conviction that he's in the right and that the ends totally justify his means. I'd argue while that absolute surety in the righteousness of his cause might be less developed than his sense of cleverness/deviousness it's not small or underdeveloped by any means. And this Lelouch probably has further developed that sense of righteousness than Canon Lelouch would have by this same point.
Okay, I have to admit: that is pretty damn fitting image with a fitting character behind it. I withdraw my earlier suggestion for Muse-chan's picture, and now support this wholly.
Kind of sounds like it would be similar to Cornelia, at least in some elements.Ok, idea for the Sun-Heart Furnace Soul once we get that.
I believe that soul would actually represent Lelouch's compassion for others to an extent. I know that sounds odd given the themes of Malfeas, but hear me out. She would still represent his arrogance, his hate, his desire for vengeance, etc. But it's important to remember exactly why Lelouch hates the things he does. He hates his father for abandoning him and Nunnally and for allowing his mother's killers to get away and not face justice. He hates Britannia for how it treats the people under its rule, utterly forgetting the concept of noblesse oblige. So any soul spawned from that hate would also value the things that cause that hatred and desire for revenge. Essentially, she'd be Lelouch's sense of justice made manifest.
However, continuing in the themes of Malfeas she'd be flawed in much the same ways Lelouch is. Her justice would often be harsh, excessive, prone to overkill in implementation, and sometimes she may become lost in her rage that she might cause collateral damage in the process as she forgets those beneath her. Once she's calmed down, she might well regret what she's done, but it wouldn't stop her from doing it again.
What you get is a queen-like personality that is arrogant and ostentatious, caring but aloof and awe inspiring yet caring towards those she views as her subjects, and utterly terrifying and cruel to those who have stoked the fires of her wrathful glory, reveling in sadistic joy as she crushes those foolish tyrants who she sees as having lost their right to rule under he heel. She'd be what Malfeas might be if he actually gave a shit about other people's needs and wants.
+5 Xp for the excellent work Enjou
+3 Xp for you NSMS. Man, the mind of this gal is a scary place...
Nope, I didn't. Great thinking with the Magma Kraken: it's something Kimbery herself would never be able to image, and yet a Green Sun Prince can. I think Nadir makes a magnificent Infernal.End of the Road
False Edit: Did you know that the text of 'Ichor Flux Tendrils' gives limitations on the length of the tendrils and the distance from the infernal from which the tendrils can sprout, but nothing on their girth (this is the only innuendo I'll be making about the charm, otherwise I'll be able to add another thousand words to the post)? So long as there is a big enough source of liquid around this charm just makes the fight scenes in my head so awesome .
And finally, here are some words that I've been dying to say ever since I posted my first omake: @Alexander89 , I hope you have as much fun with this character as I had, because Nadir and Gyula are now all yours to play with. Have fun.
The obvious solution would be making My Dark Lady the Pantheon, but sadly doesn't meet the requisites of Essence 3+. So, should I change the last three Charms to make so their prerequisite is Darkling Grace Complete instead of My Dark Lady?My Dark Lady
-Darkling Grace Complete
-Melancholy Free Wildness
-Moral Chains Cast Off
-Radiance Devouring Elegance
It seems fine. The obvious solution would be making My Dark Lady the Pantheon, but sadly doesn't meet the requisites of Essence 3+. So, should I change the last three Charms to make so their prerequisite is Darkling Grace Complete instead of My Dark Lady?
In terms of XP spending? I'm thinking we should save the extra XP for now.Anything else we can add Enjou's plan would be welcome, suggestions anyone?
That's an idea. Let's see, instead of Witness to Darkness the prerequisite for My Dark Lady can be one of the following:It seems fine.
My Dark Lady does seem like a better name for a pantheon charm than Darkling Grace Complete.
Another idea could be to make My Dark Lady both Essence 3 and pantheon. That wouldn't be much of a change, right?
Seeing Is Blindness
Cost: 3m; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK, Obvious, Shaping, Sorcerous
Duration: One scene
Prerequisite Charms: Witness to Darkness
The Ebon Dragon takes the sight of others to enhance his glory. This Charm may enhance any physical attack, causing it to trail eddies of liquid darkness as it strikes. Roll the Infernal's (Manipulation + Presence). Any target who is hit by the attack and has a (higher of Perception and Awareness) rating less than the number of successes rolled suffers complete blindness for the rest of the scene. The eyes of victims blinded this way darken to pure black without whites or irises, through which they see the Ebon Dragon in all his dark majesty and nothing else. If the Infernal has Essence 4+, imposed blindness takes the form of a Desecration effect that simultaneously bestows the Creature of Darkness deformity (if needed) and the Blindness debility. Emerald Circle Countermagic can still remove blindness imposed this way, though the Creature of Darkness deformity remains.
Noon As Night Evocation
Cost: 5m; Mins: Essence 3; Type: Simple
Duration: One scene
Keywords: Combo-OK, Sorcerous
Prerequisites: Seeing Is Blindness
The Infernal conjures unnatural darkness centered anywhere up to (Willpower x 10) yards away and spreading in any desired shape that fits in a radius of (Essence x 10) yards. This blackness is opaque to those outside and blinds all within who lack magic to see in darkness. Sunlight created by something with an Essence, artifact or hearthstone rating higher than the Essence of the shadow's creator dispels it; normal sunlight does not.
A character with Essence 4+ who knows Life-Denying Hate, Ever-Hungry Shadow Affliction or Despair-Choked Spirit Maiming may add any of these Charms' costs to the cost of Noon As Night Evocation, cursing everyone besides the shadow's creator who isn't protected from Shaping attacks to suffer as though being tagged by the Charm(s) in question while remaining in the darkness. Essence 6+ extends the maximum range and radius to one mile and three miles, respectively.
Naked Wicked Souls
Cost: 5m; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-OK
Duration: Indefinite
Prerequisite Charms: Witness to Darkness
The Shadow of All Things abhors Virtue, but its absence empowers him. While this Charm is active, whenever another character within (Essence x 10) yards of the Infernal spends a Willpower point to ignore the dictates of a Virtue rated 3+, the warlock knows which Virtue has been ignored, how many dots the person ignoring the Virtue has of it, and where exactly the act of deliberate wickedness took place relative to his present location. If the target is the warlock's Nemesis or someone he has a negative Intimacy toward, he absorbs the point of Willpower as it is spent. If the Infernal has Essence 3+, he also gains a brief synopsis of what course of action the character took that the Virtue forbid as if that action were Obvious to his senses. Essence 4+ makes the character's rationale for doing so Obvious, though she can spend another Willpower to shield her reasons (which can't be consumed). Essence 5+ renders the sinner's identity Obvious, though shielding her rationale also shields her identity.
A repurchase at Essence 4+ pushes the radius to (Essence x 100) yards. A third purchase at Essence 6+ raises this to (Essence) miles. Once the radius reaches this third threshold, the character's awareness of Virtue's failure occurs as a mental aside rather than a constant deluge of information. When it is unimportant to know who has sinned and why from a plot perspective, the Charm internalizes but does not trouble the Infernal with these details. Fully sensing a specific instance of moral degradation to the point that the Storyteller interrupts play with narrative of the event should indicate that the immorality is somehow significant to the warlock's interests or important to the setting.
Fervor-Driven Antagonism Technique
Cost: 10m, 2wp; Mins: Essence 3;
Type: Simple (Speed 6 long ticks)
Keywords: Combo-OK, Emotion, Servitude, Social
Duration: Instant (one month)
Prerequisite Charms: Witness to Darkness
The worst cruelty the Exalted inflicted on the Primordials was forcing the humiliated titans to pay attention to their conquerors and care about them in the ways that they never thought about vermin. Turnabout is fair play. This Charm is an unnatural and unblockable social attack directed at a single target using a dice pool of (Manipulation + Presence + Essence). No actual communication takes place, as the magic reaches directly into the target's soul to poison her heart without regard for language barriers. Conventional senses cannot detect this assault, though victims with the power to perceive Charms (such as through Essence sight) understand exactly what the warlock is attempting and the attack is not unblockable for them. Even victims who remain unaware of the curse levied against their souls can apply their Dodge MDV as a passive instinct, but do not know they have done so.
If the attack succeeds, the target can pay three Willpower to reject the unholy influence. Doing so does not grant awareness of the magic she avoided, though she feels inexplicably tired. Fortunately, paying this Willpower also immunizes her against all applications of this Charm for the rest of the scene. Victims who fail to pay Willpower against a successful attack suffer as follows:
-The victim must avoid the warlock for a full month to break the Charm's magic (defined in subsequent bullets). Any scene of social interaction resets this countdown, whether hostile or cordial.
-If the victim harbors an existing Intimacy toward the warlock when the Charm takes hold, the Infernal learns that fact and understands the nature of those feelings. Moreover, that Intimacy becomes enchanted as an Emotion effect. If eroded or removed, the Intimacy returns at full strength each day at sunset until the magic ends. Effects that change the emotional context of the Intimacy are permissible and don't get reversed; the redefined Intimacy reasserts itself normally with its new context.
-If the victim has no Intimacy toward the Infernal at the time of activation, the Infernal realizes this and chooses an emotional context. The victim then gains an Intimacy toward him with the chosen context. The enchanted Intimacy continually reasserts itself as explained in the previous bullet.
-The victim feels drawn to seek out the Infernal, finding him to be irresistibly fascinating. This Servitude effect doesn't actually compel her in any way. Instead, the forced attention gnaws at her dreams. For every five days that pass without spending a scene socially interacting with the warlock, the victim suffers a cumulative -1 internal penalty on Conviction rolls to regain Willpower from rest. This penalty can reduce the pool to zero dice, forfeiting any gain. A scene of interaction with the warlock resets the penalty to zero (but resets the month countdown).
A second purchase of this Charm requires Essence 4+, but permits a Performance-based attack as an alternative to the standard Presence-based method described above. Compare the attack roll to the MDV of all listeners, each of whom resist separately as though individually targeted. All new Intimacies formed this way must have the same emotional context. The Storyteller may assume that no one resists unless they are naturally wary and untrusting or harbor personal animosity toward the warlock. Players choose whether to resist or not as normal.
Alright. You can add it to Nadir's Sheet if you want.Soulsteel Reaper Daiklave 'Beggar King'
Speed: 4 Accuracy: +4 (+6 when attuned by an abyssal) Damage: +4L Defense: +1 Rate: 3 Minmums: Strength 2 Attunement: 5 (10 for non-abyssals who wish to make use of the soulsteel bonuses) Cost: 2 (or 3 if you feel that that fits better)
Notes: King Beggar is a reaper daiklave forged for Vulture-Martyr-of-Stained-Glass, a recently exalted Deathknight who has impressed his liegelord, the First and Forsaken Lion. Yet due to the sudden demise of the Nephwrack who was supposed to deliver it to her, its current whereabouts are unknown. Forged from soulsteel, King Beggar can steal the essence from its victims, draining (wielder's Permanent Essence) motes every time it draws blood (= inflicts at least one health level of damage on step 10 of combat resolution).
During its forging the Lion ordered for a powerful illusion to be woven into its very core, giving it the appearance of a roman spatha, a blade half the size of the actual daiklave. Unless the target can pass a reflexive Perception+Awareness roll, difficulty 2 they will suffer a -2 external penalty to their DV, as they cannot see the blade's true dimensions.
Beggar King is accompanied by a sheath which is a perfect fit for the daiklave's true form, yet looks like a sheath meant for a roman spatha. It is an artifact with rating 1 and costs 1 mote of essence to attune.
I agree. The number of revisions Enjou's plan has gone through getting kind of ridiculous at this point. And besides, we can always later spend the saved up xp on costly traits (and with normally slow training times, like Attributes) with Kaguya's VEE.In terms of XP spending? I'm thinking we should save the extra XP for now.
Hm. I'm not the best in judging Artifacts, but this seems easily Artifact 3 to me.Soulsteel Reaper Daiklave 'Beggar King'

In my opinion, Noon is Night Evocation or Fervor Driven Antagonism Technique would be suitable. The former due to the nature of the themes (darkness hides) being similar, the latter for more mechanical reasons (both are social). Of the two I would go with NiNE if pressed for one. That's an idea. Let's see, instead of Witness to Darkness the prerequisite for My Dark Lady can be one of the following:
I would like to point out that it isn't My Dark Lady who is the Pantheon Charm, but Darkling Grace Complete. Which, now that I think about it, it's strange because the prerequisites for those Charms are off:
The obvious solution would be making My Dark Lady the Pantheon, but sadly doesn't meet the requisites of Essence 3+. So, should I change the last three Charms to make so their prerequisite is Darkling Grace Complete instead of My Dark Lady?
I have to agree with the 'save the new XP' sentiment. We're getting enough stuff right now, we can afford to save some XP for future uses.
Normaly I would be all for reseving this extra xp for the future, but shouldn't we take into account that we could now buy the Malfeas pantheon charm and get all three souls at once ? To me at least this sounds like an worthy reason to chance the plan at this point
Given how many Yozi seem to have jumped onboard the reclamation after it was underway, I have to wonder if there is a second group of Yozi aside from the canon 5 with their own plan of action. After all, Szoreny did have a plan to get himself & Isidoros paroled from Malfeas by outing TED to Sol in the RotSE book.
They'd probably make empty automatons. SWLiHN would be happy. If they do that, I wonder who will do the work of the gods then...
The others' suggestions are good, but I have my own ideas for the Sun-Heart Furnace Soul. I think it should be male, because the themes involved are traditionally male and the other two have been suggested to be female. Rather than being wrathful protectiveness or arrogant queen, I'm imagining him as the embodiment of Lelouch's fury as the Scorned Prince. This soul is the memory of that day when Charles told Lelouch that his mother didn't matter and sent him away to be a hostage to a foreign nation. He remembers living happily in the palace with Marianne and Nunnally and fervently wishes for those days to return (mirroring Ligier's memories of living with Ruvelia and Theion).I ask this now because I need to know how to handle the two newborn souls: what do you want them to look like? Do you want them as infants, or old and intelligent enough but still emotionally immature? How they see Lelouch?
I believe those are all matters that must be decided between you and me, so I need your input.
