Reacting to the update, woohoo!
Mow the Lawn
DC 120 (CF 5% CS 5%)
1d100 = [ 3 ] + 37 + 5 + 27 + 3 = 75
CRITICAL FAILURE
Hex approached the task you had assigned him with the same attitude as all of his latest pursuits. With a stoic, calculating and cautious advance born of experience that left no room for mishap or confusion. He made a clear effort to minimize collateral damage, preferring to bind and subdue the creatures and rebels that had infested your estates and surrounding territory. In fact, it was almost entirely in hand when you finally departed for the Moonbase. Stepping into the shuttle, you gave him a curt nod of respect and left. When you returned, the situation had… escalated. Stumbling out of the crashed escape pod, you and Izzy found yourselves standing in a crater that had once been a major suburb alongside the mangled corpse of a birthday magician, an angsty teen, and a very shamefaced Hex.
Result: The monsters are gone but at what cost? Large reduction in public approval.
To be continued in Interlude: Charm: Cast
Critfails always suck, sure, but we got way more out of this than I expected. Like, I wouldn't have expected the action to actually get completed, and what's even better is that we get a +10 bonus to stomping KND Treehouses next turn. I fully expect the reduction to public approval to be abated in time, just considering how we tend to vote. And I imagine that timeline gets immensely sped up if we invest further in ice cream and coffee. At the end of the day, public appoval is a currency, and I'm willing to accept trading it for the removal of monsters in our territory and greater odds of stomping the KND next turn.
Recruit News Staff

CRITICAL SUCCESS
Evidently, when you bought your news staff, there had been a big round of resignations. That wouldn't do. In fact, not only would that not do, but you knew Hank could do better, as did Hank. With a sweeping reform, you and Hank are able to snatch up a swathe of reporters, journalists, bloggers, influencers, and anybody off the street with anything resembling a communications degree. Evidently, Hank is just as good at giving interviews to reporters as he is at giving interviews to propane salesmen. Your news agency has ground back to life and they're itching to dispatch reporters to catch up on the very eventful past few months. A few exceptional individuals pop up on Hank's radar who might just be able to wrangle this new news beast into something truly awe inspiring.
Result: New hero recruitment options unlocked, New Position Unlocked (See Below for "Positions")
Always nice to see a crit success, nice job Hank. I'm a smidge worried that we'll end up passing over Wink and Fibb for whatever new recruits are on offer, but a bigger talent pool is always good, and if the new Units are better than Wink and Fibb, then that's a nice problem to have.

CRITICAL SUCCESS
Numbuh 3 has become Death, Destroyer of Worlds. Sounds like out of the four we found the biggest issue is her and Numbuh 5, with Numbuh 5 gearing up to attack us somewhat soon and Kuki just being a roving cataclysm. Seems like Numbuh 4 is stuck dealing with whatever's over on Australia, so he's a non-issue, and Numbuh 2 shouldn't be an issue unless we poke Mandark enough to make him one, and we really shouldn't be poking other Kings unless thy pose an active threat to us or we're ready and willing to destroy them utterly.
Gem Tech Integration
DC 95 (CF 4% CS 6%)
1d100 = [ 96 ] + 19 + 31 + 4 = 150
CRITICAL SUCCESS
So, first off, I am absolutely in love with
The Iron Fist. It is our precious baby from which we shall rain down Adult Tyranny and laugh at all the other villains who don't have a sweet ride like ours.
Second, I want to keep this tech proprietary. We're a Soopervillain, we can deal with people liking us less while we make the big bucks by selling Gem Tech for both civilian and military use. We've got an opportunity to rake in those big defense contract bucks by keeping the tech proprietary and selling weapons to the gov, why not take it? And like I said earlier, I have full faith that we'll get the public opinion back fairly quickly, even if we don't just hand Gem Tech over to the government. We've already gotten the bulk of our benefits from them via that deal we forged, making them like us a bit more probably wouldn't have that great of an effect.

Eh, this is fine. Sucks that we'll have to take it again, but sometimes you just roll low.
HANK HILL
-Look into What All This "Super Villainy" Is [ 100 + 79 ]
Why are there children inside that birthday cake?
…
Wait a minute… Is that… Mr.
….
BWAH!?!?!
….
Oh dear lord, Bobby don't look!
To Be Continued in Interlude: Up Past Your Bedtime With Father
Result: Well, now he knows.
I do worry about negative loyalty penalties with Hank rolling so well on finding out Father's true nature, hopefully my fears are unfounded on that front. It'll be quite interesting to see how this nat 100 unfolds, regardless.
TOLIETNATOR
-Look for Friends! [ 55 ]
That Advanced Theoretical Stimulants action looks interesting, I wonder if XXXL could take the theory and use it in service of crafting super ice cream and/or snow cone flavors.
IZZY
-Perform a stunt [ 100 + 61 ]
Oh dang, another nat 100! That talk show interlude is shaping up to be extraordinarily interesting. I'm quite looking forward to it!
HEX
-Take a sample from Father's suit [ 88 ]
So, I'd assume the Mantle of Lesser Dad would serve as an Occult and/or Martial boost, and as such it'd probably be best served given to Hex, should we take the action for it. But something in me really, really wants to give it to Hank, both because it feels fitting given he's actually a dad and giving Hank "Propane and Propane Accessories" Hill pyrokinesis seems like it'd be absolutely awesome. I suppose his opinion on villainy will decide whether giving Hank the Mantle would be a good idea or not.
SKIPS
-Prepare for the Ritual [ 56 ]
After he finished up with the coffee rigs ahead of schedule, Skips took some time to himself to do… something. You're not exactly sure why he wandered off into the woods, but he came back the next day seemingly satisfied. He then pulled you aside and informed you that about once a year, he's going to ask for a day off with no explanation and he'd appreciate it if you didn't give him any trouble. It's more than a little suspicious, but given his work ethic, it might be worth letting it slide.
Result: The Ritual will proceed.
Good to see his immortality ritual can proceed with no interruptions.
NEW MECHANIC: POSITIONS
In a new mechanic unique to Fatherquest, players can unlock additional national actions by selecting Hero units to fill key Positions. Positions work by placing a hero into a position (Media Czar, Head of Magical Affairs, Etc). Once a unit is selected to fill a Position, you may then take any actions marked with their specific positions tag. Actions taken by Position heroes do not roll with Father's National bonus, but rather, add the relevant stat of Position hero to that of the hero assigned to the action. In addition, Heroes in Positions may not be assigned to any actions as a hero normally would and may not take personal a personal action every other turn.
Heroes may be assigned to positions by a personal action by Father, or taken away via personal action by Father. Position Actions may still have other heroes assigned to them as per normal hero assignment rules.
Assuming the position unlocked was Media Czar, I'm kind of tempted to put Izzy in said position. It'd let her get into showbiz, which seems to be what she wants, with her newly updated Fame trait she can hit up to 30 Diplo, and her high Intrigue would likely also be of use for being a Media Czar.
