I'm thinking we can hold off on promoting our religion and let it grow organically this turn. Also the wind pillar has been helpful in the past so I want to see what other insights we can get for it.
As I don't think we'll get more votes I think I'll close the vote a little early.

--[X] sermon for the faithful- you have spent much effort to bring many Keku into the faith now spend some more to ensure their faith is cemented and grown, wither by making repeat appearances to show you might, by healing the unhealable or juts by making h lives of your faithful easier by your power -either supernatural or natural.
AN: Okey seeing the importance of this vote I'm moving this AN to here so it will be more visible, were going to have a mortarium of 3 hours (mostly because that when I'm going to sleep) and this vote would be open for at least 48 hours.
Now the insight vote should be in plans as there is enough effects here that some planning should be done for potential synergies, the demon heart vote on the other hand should be separate from the insights.
I hope you'll find the insights as interesting as I had while writing them and don't hesitate to ask me questions.
Following your insight in the last decade you have spent much of this decade in seclusion contemplating your existence and the pillar that now make up your soul.
Even going so far as to expend the power of divinity to understand truth you could not have before, even as your pillars groan under divine might and you get the distinct feeling that aligning to closely with divinity and not enough with yourself may topple your soul.
Even so your pillars hold and one by one you gain revelations.
And start to understand the truth of this world.
And yet something has slipped through, mixing with your essence and changing you.
With haste you have isolated the essence that was mixed but despite you best efforts you cannot exorcise it from your soul.
In the coming days you'll have come to understand the changes this has wrought.
Heart demons are basically corruptive essence that changes you on a foundational level, they aren't good for you but are manageable so long as you're not drowning in them.
Whenever you contract a heart demon (whether major or minor) you'll receive a choice of a few detrimental personality effects for a heart demon corrupts your very soul. They have a mechanical effect but it would mostly be hidden.
Now minor heart demons can be suppressed which is basically lessening their effects enough that they do not impede you and can be controlled easily. At base (with out better knowledge or insights or any other aid) you may only suppress a total of minor demons equal to your current step (so currently you may suppress 3 minor heart demons).
The only way to remove your heart demons is through tribulation and for every heart demon you attempt to cleanse you receive a minor penalty to the tribulation roll.
As for major demon hearts? Well, I'll tell you when you get one.
Pick your heart demon (choose 1).
[] You find yourself exploding at every slight, anger cursing through your veins with out relief. Suppressed: you find yourself irritated more by petty annoyances but not enough to overcome your discipline and with proper venting wholly manageable.
[] You find old ogres awakened once more, as if you were a young keku just reaching his formative years, the sight of any female becomes incredibly distracting and without periodical relief you find your ability to concentrate rapidly declining. Suppressed: you find the female form appreciable once more but this appreciation doesn't leave you distracted and can be easily ignored.
[] You find yourself speaking in riddles, in metaphors or in double speak at every opportunity you find doing your best to confuse and mislead the person you interact with. suppressed: while occasionally you still speak in riddles they no longer so complex and misleading and if the information is important enough you could restate it clearly moments later.
[] You find your personal hygiene slipping, going weeks without showring, not bothering to commend the servant to clean your chambers caring less and less about the cleanliness of your surrounding if your constitution was not supernatural you would have had a great chance of contracting some disease. Suppressed: while you still find yourself forgetting to shower every now and then and still aren't as attendant to your environment as you have once been, it is no longer a danger to your health and with the help of your friends the effects become negligible.
(OCC: there are several places where divine motes are mentioned, its basically the units the compose divine Qi but are below our level of abstraction for turn to turn basis and you'll need to use quite a bit of them to "spend" a charge of divine Qi they are mostly there to specify that the specific effect consumes resources to activate and so may run out in long lasting engagmants.)
Water (divine), pick two:
[] "Lady Konkara, worshiped by the ancient Selinkans as the bountiful ocean, giving life wherever it touches, by use of the divine you may carry a small aspect of this ancient might" the general region around your home (or a place you live in for some time) becomes more habitable and fertile.
[] "Ocknet lord of war, master of the oceans, his steed a mighty whale ten miles long and his army consists of all that live beneath the sea. Claim his mantel and commend his armies" all sea life will follow your commends.
[] "Pekek spirit of the rivers whose presence reaches throughout the world and whose playfulness knows no end, claim his blessing and travel swiftly through his domain" traveling by river -either by swimming or by boat- becomes nigh instant, although there is a small chance that you will emerge in a different place then your destination.
[] "Clerika lady of the lake, pure and clear, by use of divine might claim her true aspect for but a moment and reflect your dangers to their source" spend a mote of divine Qi and reflect an attack back to its source.
Fire (divine), pick two:
[] "The black flames of Akerktu god of death, said to burn the unworthy before ascending to the afterlife, those black flames will burn until the final star has fallen from the sky. Breach the realm of the dead and summon its purifying flame with an exercise of divine might" may use a mote of divine Qi to summon the flames of Akerktu to consume your enemies but beware for this fire won't go out until it burns whatever it touches and you've no immunity to its wrath.
[] "During ancient time's Terkeketu has crafted the keku from the flames of creation giving them true life's, commit taboo again and steal some more when yours are extinguished" once upon death, resurrect oneself at full health but immediately suffer one major heart demon and up to twenty minor heart demons depending on the severity of your death.
[] "For centuries the priests of Bekaku claimed that their god sent them portent's of the future through flames, align your nature with his divine self and let the flames guide your sight" open flames may be used as divination aid tools, the higher the grad of the flame the higher the bonus.
[] "Akaktu was a hungry god, always demanding more from his followers, for his flame ever hungered for fuel, awaken your inner flame and demand tribute to empower it but beware that should it dim again you shall pass from this world" costs 1 divine charge a turn to stay alive -may increase as you get stronger- but gain the ability to burn wealth to gain large amounts of divine Qi (IE: you'll get an option to exchange 150 EEP for a single divine charge evry turn).
Wind, pick two:
[] "There is no element the Keku are more aligned with then the wind and the wind remembers" you may ignore wind aligned penalties (like flying in a storm) or attacks.
[] "Understand the wind, befriend it, become it" you may stress your pillar to temporarily become the wind gaining unparalleled speed and becoming epithermal for a few precious moments.
[] "The sky is the domain of the wind, commend it and scatter your enemies" increased the power of wind aligned techniques by one step.
[] "The wind is fierce and powerful yet it is also gentle and loving" so long as you're in open air gain a minor regeneration factor (this dos stack with the fire one).
Life, pick two:
[] "From the lowliest of ants to the highest of existence, it is in the nature of life to cling to flitting existence" minor lifespan increase (about 5% of your natural "natural" lifespan so like 20 years at this step and more at the next).
[] "To understand life is to understand a profonde truth of the universe" gain Dao fragment "life".
[] "two times has the heaven decreed you must die, two times have you clung to life and you'll regret their decree once more" for the next tribulation if you were to fail advance anyways but immediately suffer up to 2 major heart demons (depending on how grievous the failure was) and cleanse none of your previous ones.
[] "life is energy, this you have known, the demonic use the life of others to harvest unparallel power yet a life freely given is so much more powerful than one taken by force and who can decide your life but you?" gain the ability to burn your lifespan for energy both for the use of advancement (10 years for one AP worth) and as a major combat boost.
[] "For centuries the priests of Bekaku claimed that their god sent them portent's of the future through flames, align your nature with his divine self and let the flames guide your sight" open flames may be used as divination aid tools, the higher the grad of the flame the higher the bonus.
Given we have a divination talent, a need to divine the future, and that divination is hard, this seems like the most critical option of the many we get to pick.
Hopefully, high technology flames count as higher grade, as we don't have much for better spiritual flame yet...

As far as you know only Keku can cultivate, other then that the orders cant be too complex but you could commend them for multiple step plans and the orders can spread from sea life to sea life but at a certain point it loses the compulsion that makes them follow your commend and having them spread it out makes it run out sooner (were talking going from months to weeks).
You can't cheat the tribulation that easily but this could be used to retreat from a fight although keep in mind that you still need to swim for a few seconds for the effect to take hold.
Your empire is currently generating about 800 EEP a turn but you do need that for doing stuff and you'll get unrest penalties for going too overboard, this is more of a long term pick when industrialization and such really picks up and you go into the thousands.
Looking at the heart demons, they also follow the chaos gods theme, anger, lust, being an annoying wizard, and uncleanness.
I am personally prefer the lust one the most, since even if we lose the ability to suppress it, it isn't a real problem, our guy is the emperor and if he want a woman or even a harem, he can have it, I am also wondering if blood-related children of his will have higher chances of gaining heaven defying talent or future sight.

so we have anger, lust, "riddles and metaphors" and "unclean" (in a very literal sense).
I'd say the least dangerous, in my opinion, is either lust or riddles. To some extent both can be kind of excused by a supreme monarch or god, the other two are potentially more problematic. the "unclean" especially, really.
[] "Lady Konkara, worshiped by the ancient Selinkans as the bountiful ocean, giving life wherever it touches, by use of the divine you may carry a small aspect of this ancient might" the general region around your home (or a place you live in for some time) becomes more habitable and fertile.

[] "Clerika lady of the lake, pure and clear, by use of divine might claim her true aspect for but a moment and reflect your dangers to their source" spend a mote of divine Qi and reflect an attack back to its source.
interestingly divine qi seems to offer special insights... I suppose the warning before meant we don't want too many divine insights compared to "personal/normal" insights? Do we believe there would be a different effect in using divine qi to erect a pillar over using normal qi?
So, in order
1) Capital becomes more habitable and fertile. Obviously useful.
2) >Aquaman-tier control of sealife. There's an interest image of "ordering fishes to let themselves be caught by fisherman" or "order fishes to bring you pearls" or...
...uh. I got an idea. I read an article the other day about how on the seafloors there's abundant small nodules of metal.
Could we basically abuse this to get free sea mining? basically order fishes, cephalopods and so on to just carry those nodules into ships' nets? pollution-free low-cost sea-mining.
Just to be clear, Uri, how complex can our orders be? for how long would they be followed? Because this has a surprising amount of potential.
if sea spirit beasts started to appear, that would also have potential... or what about fish/whale/shark-dragged ships to have them go faster, kinda like horse carriages?
3)instant RIVER travel. but how good is the river network on this world? The map basically doesn't show any.
4)FULL COUNTER/Reflect
well, in terms of combat power it's OBVIOUSLY the last one. in terms of economic potential either the capital habitability or, if my sea mining/pearl diving idea works, domain over sea life.
River travel depends on river network, in particular rivers close to the capitals, where do they reach, how close they are to other rivers, and so on.
I can't choose without clarifications on how sea-life control would work, extension of river network (how quickly could we reach any corner of the continent and how much time does that save us?), and if the sea-mining I was thinking of is doable on a large scale.
I suppose river travel + sea-life control could allow us to basically do a quick trip to the coast, give the order to the fishes, then go back to the palace.
Or we could just go the combat route and get reflect + any of the others
1) Amaterasu-tier flames (from Naruto, black flames that will burn for 3 days and night straight and can't be put out by water), so, basically a combat skill.
2) self-rez/reraise/second life, or whatever you want to call it, but get a heavy penalty for it (which can be removed on ascension, but it WILL be significant. Worth considering, though ideally we'd be avoiding this scenario in the first place.
3)fire-based divination that SHOULD also boost our future-sight. a REALLY strong contender
4)trade empire power for personal power (150 Estimated Economic Power for 1 divine charge AP).
worth noting, our EEP growth went thus far:
288
312
332
608
791
I'm assuming we can do it multiple times per turn, otherwise the cost (1 charge per turn) makes no sense.
In theory once the empire becomes MUCH stronger this might allow us to get tens of APs per turn... but the cost is REALLY high.
Like, right now a charge costs us a good fifth of our empire's wealth to only break even!
So, horrible choice right now, potentially really good in the future... but hey, if we REALLY wanted to, we could probably spend 4 APs to unlock insights in a future step, and dig for this one again... but really, we don't need it.
I think there's an obvious combo worth considering: we take the Flames of Akerktu, and then we also take Fire-divination.
Surely divine flames would be really high rank, wouldn't they? So, while dangerous, they'd allow us a great bonus for future-sight.
[] "There is no element the Keku are more aligned with then the wind and the wind remembers" you may ignore wind aligned penalties (like flying in a storm) or attacks.

immune to wind-derived penalties, "become the wind/instant-duration intangibility", +1 step to wind techniques, minor regen that stacks with our fire-based one (while in the open air)
I'm not completely sure, but I'm mostly against the first one (immunity to wind-based penalties).
Uri, what does "stressing the pillar" mean here in regards to intangibility cost?
in any case, intangibility is always a strong power. technique bonus and regen are also obviously good.
I'm kinda leaning intangibility + regen, really go heavy on the "immortal emperor" thing.
[] "From the lowliest of ants to the highest of existence, it is in the nature of life to cling to flitting existence" minor lifespan increase (about 5% of your natural "natural" lifespan so like 20 years at this step and more at the next).

[] "life is energy, this you have known, the demonic use the life of others to harvest unparallel power yet a life freely given is so much more powerful than one taken by force and who can decide your life but you?" gain the ability to burn your lifespan for energy both for the use of advancement (10 years for one AP worth) and as a major combat boost.
incresead lifespan, +2 turns right now (do we want the extra time for more insights and pillars? It's not necessarily a bad idea, insights seem worth the extra time, as would another pillar or two... quantity of powers is a quality all its own)
a DAO FRAGMENT. This is new. also probably extremely valuable, though it shouldn't be particularly relevant until we reach... step 5, I imagine?
tribulation save (but honestly, I imagine we'll go heavy on "attempt + support actions", likely using them ALL on it, so I think this is unnecessary.
life-force sacrificing techniques, and converting lifespan to AP. the AP conversion is worthless (at least right now), the combat boost is a good emergency move.
Given we have a divination talent, a need to divine the future, and that divination is hard, this seems like the most critical option of the many we get to pick.
Hopefully, high technology flames count as higher grade, as we don't have much for better spiritual flame yet...
that feels unlikely, as in... how would they understand to follow such an order? On the other hand if water-based spiritual beasts started to appear we MIGHT be able to do something about it. Pet Kraken, anyone?
currently a fifth of our empire's EEP, this is the kind of power that will become really strong at higher tech levels, but not really right now.
from a quick check, I found a graph that tells me that global DGP in 1820 (arguably a bit beyond our current tech level, but not by much, and we have the advantage of a united economy) was 1.36 trillion dollars, and and in 2021 it's slightly 100 times that.
Let's add the fact we're likely to proceed in tech levels faster due to focused and global effort, as we should go from steam tech to oil tech in 50 years when real life that's closer to 100-200 years, that we can use Qi and cultivators to maybe cheat at some points, we can probably avoid wasting too much wealth on wars... Maybe we could even eventually do something as simple as "fly to a meteorite made of valuable metals, burn it for power".
But it's really only worth it in the distant future... and in the meantime we need to pay divine qi to not die, which will actually slow us down I fear.
Uri, please tell me if anything I'm saying makes the plan unfeasible, because you might have accidentally gifted us near-unlimited minerary wealth! (and pearls. and fish/seafood, I suppose)
Your empire is currently generating about 800 EEP a turn but you do need that for doing stuff and you'll get unrest penalties for going too overboard, this is more of a long term pick when industrialization and such really picks up and you go into the thousands.
Yeah, I'd say we'd only really get a (moderate) benefit in 3 or 4 turns, and the BIG benefits would come mostly at future tech levels and with a more developed empire.
It would be amazing for when we get multi-planetary though (if we ever get there)...
Narratively speaking, WHAT is sacrificed for power, and how? Do we just burn piles of resources? What matters, quantity or quality? If we, say, could reach another planet, could we just burn it ALL for power? if we could reach a separate start system, could we in theory (at higher cultivation steps, I imagine) sacrifice a star for power? What about sacrificing cultivation resources/arrays/pills/artifacts/treasures?
I don't like it. Imagine asking the empire to sacrifice 20% of GDP just to keep the emperor alive, and then another 20% to give him power. Because THAT is what sacrificing 150 out of 700 (twice) means.
Right now it would be pretty uncomfortable. It WOULD become really good in a few decades though
It being good in a few decades doesn't matter, as long as it becomes useful before the apocalypse, that's the really relevant stuff, at that point we can use it on large scale and more than double our Aps easily.
And the water proved that we can't be sure such a thing will come back.
I think the key to our action economy should be to make our actions pay back more than they waste, this way we can avoid wasting time, this pick insure everything we invested will come back, making all those insights functionally free.
I think a critical difference here is that fire was raised with divine insight, both it and water provide godly insights where the others do not.
Uri, please tell me if anything I'm saying makes the plan unfeasible, because you might have accidentally gifted us near-unlimited minerary wealth! (and pearls. and fish/seafood, I suppose)
Although I am personally more interested in trying spirit beast rearing to than consume them for resources, if they were limited by their understanding, a lot of complex stuff wouldn't work.

We've learned something important here. I'm amused none of the effects in Water people were so excited for didn't show up. I want to see insights for some of our other pillars that are bought using Divine Qi. I wonder if it will have similar effects if we use it to cultivate other abilities?

People seem to generally agree on making one additional pillar at least, which will probably be either death (if people will want to go for nine) or time, making it purely out of divine qi may be possible, but risky, he were were warned divine qi could be dangerous for us from over cultivation, learning to use it to enhance our environment may be beneficial than.
interestingly divine qi seems to offer special insights... I suppose the warning before meant we don't want too many divine insights compared to "personal/normal" insights? Do we believe there would be a different effect in using divine qi to erect a pillar over using normal qi?
Who knew that using the manifestation of divine power would have some additional effect? As to building a pile rout of divine Qi with your new knowledge you can conclude that having it be wholly made from divine Qi is probably a bad idea but that with the rest of your pillars made from regular Qi you can just use a single regular AP and you'll be fine.
The map doesn't show any because it would be a pain to add and even more of a headache to try and have it fit realistically into the map.
But you do have a lot of rivers, enough that you're basically a short fly away (at your speeds) from the vast majority of habitation centers in the empire. (both large and small).
As an added note (because I'm not sure it came over in the explanation) the rivers don't need to connect to travel between them, this is more like teleportation then regular travel.
It cant be too complex (although it is dependent on the organism you're ordering) but as a good short hand if you can explain it to a four year old and expect his to actually understand and be able to follow those instructions it could probably be done.
An order will last up to a few months less if you order them to order others, so the sea mining idea would take an AP but if this is chosen, I'll add an action for it.
Initial spitball in is that it'll give a temporary economic boost both in growth and in the actual economic power that can be used that turn, around 40% growth and 80 economic power (don't quote me on the specific number though).
And there will probably be a slight (but escalating) penalty if such action isn't repeated the next turn as the economy starts to depends on the materials acquired in such a way.
Stressing the pillar basically mean that you can only use that insight sparingly (like once every few minutes) without risking cultivation deviation although the more insight of a certain pillar you have the more you can "stress" without any risk.
The concept of value, an old and beloved doll cast to the flame would give more then a pile of gold melted by a rich man.
I should also note that the burning must be done by someone else so you yourself can't go around personally burning stuff but you can order your minions to do so.
As for the planet and stars plan, I'll get back to you when you reach the power level necessary to actually burn that stuff, or in this case when you have a follower that can do so.

It is very amusing, it's the reason I specified that I needed to know which insights were bought with divine Qi so I could know to bust the special ones.
All right ,well I'm going to sleep, so I'm opening the vote if you have any further questions feel free to ping me and I'll answer when I wake up. As a reminder insights are to be voted by plan the demonic heart is sperate.

Mh..This is slightly annoying. It means we need to be careful, that divine QI is a bit less useful than we thought.
so I imagine next turn we'll use it for insights in the pillars we didn't use it on yet, maybe put 1 point on a pillar... Oh, and the research that uses 1 point maybe.

I think current vote shouldn't be a plan, too many separate stuff, a person may like your fire pick but dislike your life or wind pick, so best to just treat every element separately as they all have different considerations, just have top two picked for every element.
Water I am not really sure, caught between healthier land and attack reflection, so I may change my vote.
In fire, I am not really sure how critical really is the future sight, since our current future sight seem sufficient to most purposes, the divine flame seem like powerful offensive, and the ability to get APs will pay for this action, keeping us in the green actions wise, especially now that divine qi was discovered to be much less useful than expected (we need to keep balanced insights, and can use only one for our pillar).
I would probably vote stronger wind techniques if not for me voting super fire, reflecting water and us already having regeneration for it to build on.
An order will last up to a few months less if you order them to order others, so the sea mining idea would take an AP but if this is chosen, I'll add an action for it.
Wait, could we remove the AP cost if we also picked the river teleport? After all with that we can literally take a few minutes to reach the closest river, and then teleport around to all coastlines to give orders to the sea life every few weeks.
Reducing the travel time to near nothing should remove the larger part of the time it would take.
and the ability to get APs will pay for this action, keeping us in the green actions wise, especially now that divine qi was discovered to be much less useful than expected (we need to keep balanced insights, and can use only one for our pillar).
You're arguing divine QI is less useful, and then saying it's good to get more? We don't get normal APs, we get divine charges
Also keep in mind we need to pay 150 EEP per tur. Right now just to go net zero, and that's potentially more than our current economic growth per turn.
That said, I suppose we could just... Not pay for a few turns, and only start doing it when the EEP cost is worth the extra charges.
On a side note, this actually gives us incentive to slow down cultivation speed for the emperor I think.
The wealthier the empire is and the lower rank the emperor is (because higher steps likely mean higher cost per turn to stay alive) the better the benefits, relatively speaking.
We cn admittedly afford to waste a divine charge per turn for a few turns.
Didn't notice this part, I still think it is more powerful than straight divination, but I am a little less excited for it now.
We need to figure out a way to make use of divine qi without reaching that limit, in hindsight, getting more uses for divine qi this turn was a very good idea.

Simply put, in the short term we'll likely not use the power at all, and basically pay a 1-charge-per-turn tax. Once the economy improves a lot, though, we can get basically all the divine charges we want.
We can even use an action to boost economic growth with the sea mining idea I had, and basically use the wealth from that to get more divine charges.
By the way, let me make a list of things we'll want to use divine QI on
1)insights. I'm thinking 2 divine insights per pillar, paired with 3 normal ones (1 basic + 2 from a new AP investment) on average.
So that's... we're doing water and fire now, so I guess next is wind, earth, flight, teaching, life. Also I'm expecting us to get 1 or maybe 2 more pillars, so that's 6 or 7 charges.
2) we've been told 1 charge per pillar is fine, so probably 2 charges for two pillars total.
Though @uri I'm wondering what a divinity pillar made of only divine QI would be like.
That's the basics.
After that..
I wonder...
Could we funnel divine QI through the teaching connection to speed up cultivation speed of everyone else, if we end up having a surplus? What about artifice study while using divine QI? Uses during tribulation? Special techniques to basically perform miracles?
No idea.
I'm still not sure I feel the need for the "burn wealth for divine charges" insight though. Long term it will be pretty strong, but long term we'll also get more divine charges just from growing population and the spreading of the faith...
Yeah, if there's a limit to "internal" use of divine QI before it affects us in undesired ways, then the obvious solution is external uses.
Artifacts. Techniques. Sharing the power with other cultivators. Making the land better and indirectly helping us and other cultivators by further improving spiritual diet. Creating places of powers or divine/spiritual beasts.
