Something like, when using life consuming formations (ie formations that consume lifespan to function) reduce the risks/improve efficiency, would be more appropriate but it would only work for technique designed to share life/use it.
Than sure, we are unlikely to make major use of lifespan sharing before making one anyway.

Rereading some of the discussion to see if I missed anything and I saw this, which is both really funny and incredibly true, you mind if I sig this?
"weather", not wither.

but yeah, that's a pretty good summary of the situation. And before we learned of the CHAOS MARINES incoming, we definitely underestimated the level of danger.

Next turn we truly begin taking DESPERATE actions. I wonder how the nobles will react, considering they don't believe us.

Likely not any different then what they are doing now, with perhaps just a bit of extra investment into combat and weapons. They are generally not against you; they just believe its an excuse to have stripped them of power.

In other news, I'm working on and off about populating my table of loot for the necron pyramid so if you have ideas for things the necrons might have lying about (things that are cannon and things that aren't) mention them and you might end up finding them.

Needless to say, you aren't finding unique things (this is for the minor loot table).

Specifically, I'm looking for things to populate the artifact section of the loot table but every suggestion is appreciated.

and yet when, after MORE than a century of very low investment into the military (we basically only invested in a small military, + law enforcement against rebels and demonic cultivators, but NOTHING on the level of what we're about to do next turn), IF they still don't believe us about the apocalypse... then they have to wonder WHY are we making such a wild departure from our standard modus operandi, and taking such desperate measures.

Because, even if they don't believe us, we're now certainly BEHAVING as if we truly believe we're about to undergo some massive war. Which makes no sense, considering we control the whole world.

So, either we've gone mad, OR we know something they don't. After all we were already basically unopposed, and even the demonic cultivator problem we currently have is not something that can really benefit from such a massive military build-up.

I suppose the only other possibility they could imagine is that we're preparing for space expansion and to invade alien races... which still doesn't explain the urgency, as we could have instead taken a century or so to more gradually shift to a military culture instead.

Specifically, I'm looking for things to populate the artifact section of the loot table but every suggestion is appreciated.
I basically know nothing about the Necron beside generic history, but as they're possibly the most technologically advanced race in 40k...

well, any kind of energy-matter or matter-to-energy converter, something that can basically build stuff from "apparently) nothing... Basically 3D printers/Matter Generators.

armor, obviously. guns of any kind, possibly melee weapons, not sure what they used. Something capable of shutting or disrupting the warp, maybe in the form of "grenades" or force-fields?

there's obviously the bots. maybe we'll find some deactivated ones we might SOMEHOW manage to control? Or even just be able to activate them AFTER somehow directing them at the Chaos Marines?

what else... dna samples of other races? Maybe even of the original biological precursor to the Necrons?

star maps?

Well, lifespan sharing is I think our best way to fight the primarchs, we can plausibly get our hands on as much powers as we can manipulate, work with two lifespan burning insights from opposing sources (life and death) to empower such a technique and cultivator talent to make it impossibly good technique, we can hit the unhittable and damage the undamagable for a moment if Maktu shared his insight with us, and a core insight that can let aim it.

There are still some pieces missings, we should have a method to survive getting close, either an insight to dodge the un-dodgable or a ninth grade armor.

We need the right element for this technique, building on Maktu's weak blank effect might work, or we can try to build on our death understanding and insight.

And we might want a ninth grade weapon (if we are willing to pay the cost).

All those together and I am relatively confident we can at least make him retreat, maybe even banish or temporarily kill him (not really confident we can land a permanent kill, even if I can hope), and we need to get closer to him (maybe the divine wind rune could work, or if he gets close to a river).

Enough power to bring back worlds from the dead should do the trick.

Did someone say demonic cultivation!

The power of blood really jumped up in priorities.

A minor pylon device could be cool and useful (and those can also work without interference, as those on cadia stopped the spread of the way of terror in their off state, and started closing it when a necron activated them), so a smaller shield or mechanical vehicle that does personal scale effect of it could be fun.

Also phase blades, those are pretty cool.

Could also put consumables, like time stop grenades.

Okokuto's genius.
"Lord Okokuto, you are requested at the center" the good looking keku looked back at him, annoyed, seeing that he had been flirting with some women at the park, a few miles away from where he was supposed to be.

They had needed to bring it up to the emperors' eyes just to find him.

"If it is another complaint about Fuzzles, spare me the trouble, I already stopped bringing Fluff like you asked" that was another problem, through not the one he was speaking off, "Fuzzles" was a wild animal after all, three times as big as a keku, with more muscle than that, and while not capable of full flight, a very good glider.

He was also Okokuto's "pet", which Okokuto brought to the research facility, he insisted Fuzzles' input was important to the research, he was relatively sure it is a lie.

At least he stopped bringing Fluff, who belonged to what was the biggest land walking predator species on the planet, at least that one couldn't fly.

And really, there were injuries only that one time when someone baited Fuzzles.

"No, lord Okokuto, it is about the meeting with the construction crew, the one you were supposed to be in now" he looked confused for a moment and waved off the women he was flirting with, who looked disappointed.

Before he jump, and in a single flap of his wings landed close.

At least he wasn't angry yet, he mostly looked confused.

"Didn't they see the papers I left them?"

He swallowed "they did sir, they are just asking for clarification on certain project" seeing Okokuto losing interest, and wondering how he ended up as his handler after graduating from the most prestigious university in the empire "of course, you don't even need to come back, just let me set a meeting in the computer".

"Are they stupid" the blunt reply hurt, because he knew it was coming, geniuses are always… eccentric.

"I clarified pretty well what is their job, and it should be well within our budget" he really didn't want to argue for those arrogant corporate lapdogs, but serving as an handler was kind of his unofficial job now.

"Yes, but they want… more clarification"

For a moment he seemed to focus, and than said "tell them I can't, cultivating now, this is very critical breakthrough" Koku looked back at the women who still seemed to be waiting and back at Okokuto, who continued "doing the emperor's work you know, this species wouldn't save itself".

He tried to protest, but Okokuto beat him to it "tell them to speak to Fuzzles if they have any questions, he is my official assistant".

He left without turning back, going back to the group he left behind, and he just hung his head, he respected cultivators, he really did, he had grown up dreaming of being one, he remembered the amazement when he first saw their majestic flight, inkeku in both their elegance and speed.

If only Okokuto wasn't ruining it for him.

It was later that week that Okokuto arrived to the office, thankfully, some servant came to take Fuzzles long before, Okokuto wouldn't really leave his pets alone for long.

He came and stopped at the threshold of the door, in clothes that wouldn't really look out of place in a beach "Good morning Koku" it was noon.

He bowed "Lord Okokuto" but the somehow older Keku waved him off "yeh, yeh, did you finish what I asked you to" he nodded and passed him a tablet, walking besides him so he can show him their progress.

"The readings recorded by the sect agents show improvement in limiting the manipulation of heavenly energies, in a few months we might be far along enough to ask for a visit from Princess Kuvara, in checking our progress".

For a moment, he thinks he saw it, as Okokuto's face took a serious cast, checking the readings, he saw the genius who invented a whole new branch of heavenly science, a person who somehow influenced the construction of new provinces to such an extent as to prove his theories true.

A kid that came from nothing and carved his place amongst the heavens' talents.

"What do think Fuzzles" and his heart nearly stopped as a head poked over his shoulders, with a mouth big enough to consume said head whole.

And it screeched.

"Don't be so loud, I can hear you" he nodded, and the moment which he thought he saw passed, Okokuto nodded "this is garbage" taking it an electronic pan he marked a few buildings "demolish those".

He looked at it, lost "but we just finished the construction, you asked for them yourself two years ago".

Okokuto nodded in agreement "true, but Fuzzles made a pretty compelling argument" Koku looked back, and saw Fuzzles trying to eat his feathered tail, running in circles and seemingly enraged at the elusive prey.

"I will see it done".

"Oh and Koku".

He turned back, hoping the madman changed his mind "bring me something to drink, take something from my stash, mortal drinks are way too weak to do anything for me".
Wanted to make an Okokuto omake, after the recent talk about anti warp feng shui, and than came the question of his personality, my first instinct would have been something like our alchemist, but that sounds boring, I don't want our talents to be the same, so I came up for a different idea to his personality.

Eccentric geniuses are always fun.

I'm just going to go ahead and put you down for that anti warp fang shui (well its less anti warp and more making it harder to manipulate but same effect).

Shackles of heaven- this Fang shui pattern hardens the local warp and majorly increases the difficulty in shaping it, all workings that utilize the raw warp are effectively one full grade lower and the risk to cast such workings increases. Sufficiently skilled practitioners can reduce this the effect of this Fang shui but not fully ignore it.

Kind of curious, would this be helpful to Kuvara after she has fortifications set? As destroying those fortifications would be harder? How strong is her avatar within the effect, to get a scale of how effective it would be against a greater demon (that isn't the kind that destroys worlds).

mh... if it works like that, it also means we'd make it harder for her to BUILD the defenses in the first place.

Which means this is a pattern that should only be adopted when under warp/psyker assault, but not normally.

It would not, whatever benefit derived form it would be countered by the increased difficulty to wield it.

Her avatar isn't impacted too much, I her working through that avatar that is somewhat inhabited but with the amount of power she has to throw around that isn't felt too much.

Of course, it makes it harder to cultivate, so we are unlikely to activate it until after the apocalypse started, probably in attempt to stop major warp rituals, as well as cripple all of Tzeench's forces (including Magnus's legion) and limit some others (Khorne's forces will likely be mostly unaffected, with slannash and Nurgle variable by demon), at least unless we can activate it only for the gate sites.

That's good and bad, on one hand, not weakened Kuvara, on the other, it likely implies the pattern needs improvement if we are planning to use it as a weapon against greater demons and an alpha plus demon prince demigod psyker.

Well, it is pretty good step in the right direction.

And another fuck you Tzeench action.

If we do eventually lose, I hope to make it so Tzeench suffered the most for our defeat, lol.

Moon rocks.
As the first cultivator, you have snagged many firsts in the history of kekukind.

The first to cultivate, the first to reach the second step, the first to reach the third, the first to reach the fourth step, the first to live beyond mortal lifespan and many, many more.

Today, you have snatched another first.

The first Keku to step upon the moon.

Kuteka looked so beautiful form up here, the green and blue orb looked peaceful no divisions, no poverty, no pain, no pending apocalypse that would seek burn it all.

If you squint you could see the rocket that in just moments will begin its journey to the heavens. Assuming nothing goes wrong it will make that journey in twenty-five hours.

Twice as fast as you. it took you two days to fly up here and most of the Qi in your core.

Then again you had to help Kekita and Kuvara get up here as well, which slowed you down some.

The journey was worth it though.

The sight of your daughters playing around in the low gravity of the moon and gushing over moonrock is a sight you would never forget.

But while this was a family trip you did have some business to take care of so you let them enjoy their sister time in peace and set down to cultivate.

The form fitting space suit you're wearing wasn't comfortable -and flying in it was a pain- not enough to really get a session going but you didn't need to, you only wished to test the quality of the Qi here on the moon.

Unfortunately, you were disappointed, you had hopped that with all of the stories and legends about the moon the Qi around it would be greater but it seemed as if it had eve less Qi then it should.

Perhaps the distance played a factor? Some kind of lose in the intent coherence over large distances? That makes sense.

Still there was something in the Qi, some echo of a future never to be.

It didn't take you long to decipher what the echo was.

It was an echo of a divine being never born, the potential used in the birth of Kuvara.

Perhaps you could utilize it for something, perhaps not.

For now, though, you joined you daughters in searching for interesting moon rocks to take back, you only had so much time until people started figuring out you weren't in seclusion.

And the first Keku astronauts would soon arrive and you'll like to be down before then, let them officially be the first to step on the moon.

The feat would do well in motivating the masses and inspiring hope for the future.

Fun fact, you had more then a single path to gain a god. One of the potential ways would have resulted in a moon one.

Ten years later

I am telling you guys, the moon landing was false, the government had been sending agents to it long before the "official" landing, can't you see this clear image of the emperor on the moon, I am not crazy and it isn't a smudge of dirt!

It's a flex both ways.

Tech can now outspeed the EMPEROR.

On the other hand, the Emperor CAN FLY TO THE MOON WITHOUT A ROCKET.

Easiest thing I can think of is giving Kuvara a moon domain, maybe.

I mildly dislike the idea of keeping this secret, but then again it's of little importance

I am guessing the place of power research tree?
or maybe we would have gotten a chance on the moon landing if we had not already used this potential on Kuvara.

An important moment for the species, with every Keku alive focusing on the moon and the moon landing... it COULD be enough.

It would be the equivalent of a Keku-widespread ritual

I am sure our moon good baby would have been beautiful.

Temporary threadmark: ingredient spending vote.
Okey so I'm going to do a quick voting round on what to do with your G1 herb production.

This is the note I have in the plan but well after the body nourishing meal the benefit is very marginal.

--[X] Body nourishment meal (for impressive first steps, expand every first grade herb we can't keep, if we have leftover we can't keep, give it to second steps for what meal they wish, if we still have leftover, use it as rewards for scientists and such).

And I'm pretty sure you've overlooked an option to spend the herbs.

So for context, after all the body nourishment meals are all made (and I'm taking into account the five sect 1st steps, all 1200~ of them). you are still left with 75 G1 herbs to spend.

First option is to store them, your current method of storage allows you to store 3X your production and you aren't anywhere close to the cap.

You can of course continue with the original plan; it would give marginal benefits for the second steps and I suppose it would give you some loyalty from your mortal subordinates but they are generally mostly loyal anyway.

The third option is to use it to boost the awakening pills you're crafting this turn, I think it went under the radar that its even an option because you didn't have enough production to really do so but you could add ingredients to already existing recipes of a lower grade to increase the effect.

Its inefficient but it's a possibility.

You are making 13 charges of awakening pills (or getting 260 new first steps from pills alone) adding a single G1 ingredient to a G0 pill increases its effects by 25%, any additional ingredient use halves that bonus (IE: the fist adds 25%, the second 12% the third 6%).

For the awakening pill in specific this means 5,2,1 new first steps respectively per ingredient.

Spending 39 G1 ingredients would boost the total number of first step you gain form the pills by 104.

For a few helpful numbers, 250-300 first steps is what I consider enough for one step toward getting a cultivator AP and 1000~ or so first steps is what I consider enough for a unit of first step and for every 10~ I add another first step who attempts tribulation (there some rolls which influence things).

Don't worry too much about the numbers they are juts there to give you some look into the mechanics behind the scene, fell free to vote complete on vibe.

So, for this vote I want you to tell me.

[] how much you store.

[] how much you spend on second steps and mortals.

[] and how much you spend on boosting the potency of your pills (for ease multiples of 13 are probably best).

As a reminder you currently have 75 G1 ingredients to spare.

And please for the love of all that is holy use Plan votes.

[X] plan, let's make more cultivators
-[X] spend everything we can on awakening pills without lowering the quality, rest put in storage, one herb per pill to keep up efficiency.

Thinking of lifespan, with it as a worry removed, we can heal half steps for two divine qi, so that's pretty good news, if we can find volunteers, this is also an obvious show of immediately putting the donations to good use.

We can also heal one point of Kuvara damage per 1 divine qi, if I remember correctly she can take max of 20 damage a turn as long as she has an avatar, so while we can't heal her yet, maybe eventually.

Had a thought, can we develop a time technique to slow time, and power it with lifespan and divine qi? This could act as a boost for a bunch of actions, and now we have a potential power source to justify such a thing, like make a single ap count as two or three for actions that don't require interaction with others.

@uri , how much ap would it be to develop such a technique? Is Okerteru willing or capable of helping with it? Would it require something like divine qi information? Exotic advancement or is it just direct help in this one thing like using his help to forge ninth grade materials.

Also, is Kuvara permanently (as long as she has an avatar) limited to twenty damage a turn, or would more attention or chaos gods bring that up?

And about the power of blood, are there any follow-up actions to it, we can take ahead to refine it? If we already take it in a turn?

Another idea I had for research from the talk about forcing our dao on others limiting them is to do something similar to quickly teach talentless soldiers who we awaken, is it possible? Would such a thing take a research action? My idea is basically something like, boost a very large amount of first steps with techniques, dao knowledge, maybe even cultivation ability within hrat realm and so on, but cripple their long term advancement, a way to quickly power up our population, if we don't care about the future advancement of said people.

Basically make millions of cultivators who don't have the ability to innovate or advance themselves, but are otherwise as strong or stronger than proper first step cultivators.

This could definitely close up the number gap to some extent.
On the other hand, the Emperor CAN FLY TO THE MOON WITHOUT A ROCKET.
We still use a space suit though, really a shame, I am sure Kuvara doesn't need any.

On the other hand, we can fly with no air! Probably by using qi to generate our own qi and lift.

If the chaos gods weren't a thing, we might have been able to go FTL, as our water insight to teleport works in the warp (probably because a whole bunch of people call it the sea of souls, so it is metaphorically good enough).

I very much did NOT remember that, yeah.

well, that sounds worth it considering we have 75 G1 herbs, and we'll presumably try and expand production even more later.

I wouldn't use them for the awakening pill after the first boost though. Better to keep them for immortal cooking healing and qi recovery during the apocalypse instead.

This idea of making our population into bad copies of Shitaku kind of giving me the idea for the biggest heist in chaos' history, calling for tribulation isn't really hard cultivation wise, the gods have limited amount of power here for first step tribulations, so much that a few hundreds could noticeably diminish it, and fueling this could take them time, this is why this edict is so strict, they don't want each other to use it to exhaust themselves in an area.

Meaning that they can't instantly notice it emptying and move to refill it.

So what if we used it? What if just before the apocalypse, after imprinting our dao on the entire population and pulling them to the threshold, what if we had them all ascend? The power would probably be exhausted completely after the first thousand tribulations, and what than? Millions of second steps, crippled second steps perhaps, ones incapable of advancing without the emperor's help, or doing anything he didn't teach them, but still countless more second steps.

There is the risk of the chaos gods foreseeing it, but they didn't see the other cheats so it isn't impossible it can be hidden, a one time heist for godly power, this is bigger than anything we did before, but they took a while to notice cultivation and that was big too.

Maybe a ninth grade material can hide this, a one time cloaking device, a divine tribulation array built for the planet.

The other risk is bringing the apocalypse closer, it wasn't brought up much, but it is entirely possible the tribulations speed up the apocalypse, but if we waited to just a decade before the qi levels rise to match a place of power, we might be able to ascend as a species.

It might permanently destroy the tribulation perk that tribulations weaken after other people do tribulations.

But it is over two hundred million second steps, this completely turn around the number advantage (although it might result in an even stronger response from the gods).

If Kuvara get the Keku domain by than, such an action may be significant enough to do something permanent to reality, the same way we carved cultivation into it, or Maktu carved his defiance of the gods, and Kuvara may be able to use this significance to do something, like improve our species' talent more, or make all Keku be born at the second realm, as all keku who aren't blanks or children would be at the second realm, maybe something else, or maybe it would do nothing, but the chance...

Does Shitaku think such a plan is possible Uri?
