The cartel bosses were then replaced; the gangs were given directives to stock up on ammunition and weaponry. Food and water were being bought in quantities reminiscent of those expecting a starvation-siege. A rebellion was ruled out, as Needle managed to intercept a message instructing the 'Macks Hacks,' a gang inside Ularn, to assist the guards should the city be attacked and to cease any activity not necessary to remain funded.
The criminal organisations appear to be expecting a siege to start in the near future. We have some storerooms at the Tree which can supply 300 people for six months but our current population is more than double that figure. I think we need to try and expand that storage capacity before whatever's coming arrives.

All of our Tree of Knowledge actions are already locked so we'd need to spend one of Martyris's actions instead. The storeroom expansion takes 3 turns to build so we should probably use Sandcrete to speed it up either this or next turn.

Yes, as you are trying to get infrastructure set up within a Necropolis. Unlike Imperial Paperwork, this can result in people dying of not done properly. (No mechanical loss of life unless a nat 1 though.)

And the investigation will conclude next turn.
I just realised something, our crystal cat comes from the suspendium fields. Can our cat fly?
Maybe. You don't know. :V

I would prefer to have an actual negotiation over it, it just seems to nebulous otherwise. You should probably do a diplomatic meeting with the Emperor if that's what you want to do.

Also yeah, we would become almost untouchable for our power level. Though we should look into anti espionage measures, everyone and their mother is going to want suspendium research and may not be nice about it.
The things we most want from the emperor are things the emperor cannot hand out as part of some sort of deal. We want things like "a knight chaper for no reason decides to build a base nearby" and "for some reason people who planned to hurt us keep ending up dead"

You get thosw thinga by showing you will repay the emperor in kind. Gifts create obligation and the airship is one of the few ways we have to actually influence the emperor. It's something he can use to wow diplomats and even heads of states.

So far we qualify as mildly useful and harmless
This will qualify us as highly useful. We need to reiterate to the emperor that we are still harmless to him, we will not challenge his authority, but rather will enhance it.

I think PD can be used to speed up a construction action as well, meaning we can one turn it.

She can help with construction, but only for narrative means, not for mechanical benefits. She may be willing to lend a hand, but feels uncomfortable in any situation where she is not doing or acting upon her primary function (defending people and killing Monsters). The research bonus was a hidden goody which is already making her squirmy.

She is very much an instrument of war, and her mental state reflects that.

We want things like "a knight chaper for no reason decides to build a base nearby" and "for some reason people who planned to hurt us keep ending up dead"
That's what you want. What I want is enough materials and manpower to build up Norqod all at once to finally get to the important building like the engine and airship workshops.

Things that the Emperor can definately help with for a much cheaper price like production quotas or sale agreements. The knight chapter will follow naturally after we are recognised as a vital industrial zone.

while suspendium is fine and all,we cant risk to go and build more

instead lets keep our rate of growth by developing our local industry,i really want to design better steam based machinery to jumpstart improved fireweapons

I think we are going to want secret of the circuit 2 before we can have machines proper, and for that we are going to want an electronics workshop to push our chances of succes to acceptable levels.

Machinery doesnt need electronic circuits tho

1800s steam machinery should be perfectly doable for us

Building a workshop for fabrication of tools through the use of hidraulic prenses using steam machinery should be possible

And from there we can truly uplift life quality

The king can't give us followers, much less faithful. Our material income is good and getting better all the time. Our limits are organizational, not manpower. We are action limited. The emperor can't fix that.

Not followers, but the emperor can send worker teams to build up Norqod. It's not like building a village is rocket science or that Slatnan is unfamiliar with construction. We could give them blueprints and let them work with minimal supervision.

Materials: 188.72(min. +41.81, max. +136.81 per Turn. (18.74 owed to The Merchant Guild in 3(three) Turns.))
That's a lot. Seems like we won the steam engine contest. That and...

I wonder if the approval is because of the steam engine or because of the airship?

Farsight Lense - 0.73
I think this is the only Artefact we got this turn. Definitely something to research, especially with the new possibility for scouting we got thanks to our airship.

- Airship: Proof Of Concept
A one-person gondola, lifted by a bag of energized Suspendium Dust, can lift about 150 kg and is propelled by sails and steered by moving the same. Armaments include the crossbow the person holds and a flashbang. The first of its make, but in time the least.
Sounds like a more expensive/complicated version of hot air balloons/zeppelins. Maybe we can combine Suspendium with other methods of flight to reduce the amount we need?

Child: Lady Silvia - Mutated Girl - 1-Year-Old
Your first child! She is, in every aspect, perfect! Her legs and ears are like her mother's, even if her fur is entirely obsidian. She has two horns growing above and swinging around her head in a tiny semi-circle, looking like a regal crown with the spikes atop (even if it makes putting a shirt on a pain), framing her golden hair. She does have a relatively long tail, furred like a Sweden forest cat (the fur is obsidian again), which means you need to get a tailor for her pants. Her laughing and smiles melt your heart, and she has this cute habit of putting her tail into her mouth like a snow leopard. She is also blind, which makes teaching her how to read and defend herself a real challenge. Where are you going to get braille books and learn to read them so you can teach her? And what weapons do the blind use? Her first word had been 'Dada.' You'll never let Selene live that one down. She took her first step!
Her first step. The most important piece of information!

Within the halls of 3-Point University, a fierce debate raged among the learned members of the faculty. For months they had argued and tested, debated the merits of the seven engines which had been chosen as the final contestants, and put them through ever-increasing hardships and greater scrutiny.
I wonder who the other contestants were? Obviously the 4S but who else?

One sent in by the 4S, a design of elegance and sophistication, another by a lone inventor in the Capital, a machine created to be as cheap as possible and remain functional, the last sent by a new religion that had taken root within Tessen.
Huh, we probably should contact that inventor. Getting more talents/Hero units is always good.

Some of those who had been against this entry had argued that these criteria were sought after, but not the primary way it would be utilized, seeing the forward-thinking or cheap engine as the number one entry instead.
We do have a project to upgrade our steam engine further and we probably can reduce the price by mass-producing parts.

"-and the Council has thus decided to grant you the funds necessary to pursue the further study and practical applications of Suspendium. Have a good day," Nihji finished reading, laying the scroll gently down onto the table. He drew a shaky breath as he tore his eyes away from the numbers displayed, those insidious numbers showing that more money would be assigned than to some buildings.
Ah, their reaction to getting the Suspendium research funded. We did spend 30 Materials on that after all.

"Bring me all the paper that we have, along with the graphite pens that Bolt bribed us with, the ones that need no ink.
We still have to research those pens.

"Now," came Aria's calm voice, as a whine rapidly built up, before the Knight erupted into a veritable storm of lightning strikes, scorching and burning the Horrors about to jump on PD.
I wonder if we could make that more efficient somehow, at least against few enemies. Lasers to guide the lightning are probably too advanced, maybe some form of small harpoons with steel wire?

Can hold for about three minutes more before the horde is here in full," she answered, using the momentum of her swing and punch to bring Grieving Echo around and cleave the Horror in twain.
A few words too many, I think.

Laboratory #3 was impressive, not for any substances or equipment within, but for the room and safety precautions present.
Wait, safety precautions?! Did they upgrade the labs after PD arrived?

Already, some whispered among themselves of the day when Imperial Airfleets would blot out the sky, raining death and destruction down on the Monsters of the world, how massive expeditions could be undertaken to the North Pole.
That would need sooooo much Suspendium.

Something big was going to happen when even the criminals are preparing for the worst. Something the Pilgrims may not be ready to encounter.
Yeah, they expect the place to turn into a warzone. We should probably focus on upping our defenses.

[ ] Keep it for now. - (City)
You have no idea what to do with it or how it could even be used appropriately. But giving it away when it has the only useable source of Suspendium within? It could be the wrong choice. Assigning it to a city would also drastically increase communication speed, lessening the need to hire couriers.
(Effect: -0.05 Materials for all buildings within the chosen city.)
Probably this or giving it to the Military. Having our airship scout enemy movements could be huge if the attackers are the Nek-Ne tribe from the Wastes.

[ ] Suspendium Bags - (Common Suspendium Theory/Advanced Suspendium Theory/Pioneer Suspendium Theory)
Having a method to keep the ship afloat for extended periods is needed should you decide to follow that path of development. Getting bags of Suspendium to stay charged for extended periods will be the first step.
(Needed: Suspendium Shard - Tiny
Cost: 7.55 Materials
Chance: 66/55/44 for 1/2/3 Successes, Successes needed: 2
Reward: Gain Suspendium Bags, allowing a much higher lift rate, at the cost of flammability.)

[ ] Pressurized Suspendium - (Common Suspendium Theory/Advanced Suspendium Theory/Pioneer Suspendium Theory)
Rather than trying to get more Suspendium inside a flammable bag which can be ripped open by anything, why not miniaturize and pressurize the crystals instead? Case in point, doing so may have a slight chance of exploding.
(Needed: Suspendium Shard - Tiny
Cost: 5 Materials
Chance: -98/-87/-76 for 1/2/3 Successes, Successes needed: 8
Reward: Gain Pressurized Suspendium, allowing a much higher rate of lift in exchange for instability.)
Definitely need the Suspendium Theories for the pressurized stuff.

[ ] Propuslions In The Air - (Common Machinery/Mechanics/Electronics/Chemicals)
Moving around on the ground is easy; driving around in the air, less so. Relying on sails is good, but what if there is no wind? How do you move around then?
(Cost: 10 Materials
Chance: 77/63/49 for 1/2/3 Successes, Successes needed: 3
Reward: Ships are now no longer forced into auto-combat when attacked, much faster to boot.)
Makes our airship better at scouting. Probably the best project in the short-term.

[ ] Cargo Transporters - (Common Mechanics/Hydraulic/Armor/Machinery/Metallurgy/Physics)
With the proof that you can now fly, you now need evidence that heavy loads can be moved around without falling prey to any aerial threats.
(Needed: 4 Suspendium Shards - Tiny
Cost: 10 Materials
Chance: 08/-20/-48 for 1/2/3 Successes, Successes needed: 5
Reward: Gain Light Cargo Airship)
That has to wait until we have more Shards. Would be the first step to developing bombers though.

Archeology: The secrets of the past will illuminate the future; may we learn from their mistakes. (Choose 1 Action)
Probably should send out some scavengers to finish one of our expedition locations.

[ ] Storerooms - Grand
Preparing for bad times is not only smart but necessary. Ensure that there are enough supplies and secure storerooms to last the Pilgrims for at least twelve months.
(Cost: 8.0 Materials Upkeep: 0.74 Materials Restock cost: 7 Materials
Turns: 3
Reward: Can support up to 900 Pilgrims for twelve months under siege conditions, before you need to gather new supplies)
We should take this and hope we finish before we get attacked.

[ ] Build A Wall
Being put into the unique position of building a village has created the need for a wall enveloping its whole. Better start building; this could take a while, especially if you want to have sound construction.
(Turns: 8
Cost: 11.50 Materials
Reward: A Wall, increased DC for attacking the Tree, 1/4 requirements built.)
Unlikely to finish in time but could help.

Sounds good. Although, I might post an alternative plan that doesn't attack and changes a few things around.

I think those types of buildings are better suited for the village proper so they can simply be bigger. Though that runs into the problem that setting up the village is going to take time.

yeah,we are going to need to implement some good shit for the village

but overall,i reccomend using a ''free economic zone'' model,AKA,low economic taxes/regulations to increase inmigration as well encouraging mutants settling in instead of living on the slums of the outer city

Can we post a bounty for suspendium at the adventurer's guild? It would be a way to get a trickle of suspendium shards for material.

And I just realized we should give our aircraft away until we build a second. Otherwise we won't have a platform to test our new engines with.

low taxes maybe, but a hard no on low regulations, that will just cause more problems than it's worth.

Either way I doubt such measures will be necessary. We will offer good pay, good hours and good working conditions, people will flock to get a spot in our workshops even without touching the taxes, especially mutated.

And also give away the secret ingredient to anyone with a brain. We should wait until we see how the empire reacts. They might want to regulate or protect the source of suspendium to ensure no enemy of the empire is able to get it.

So two differences with this plan. One, we send PD along on the Top-03 attack, and two, we send that envoy to the Emperor I mentioned. Otherwise, its the same as Profectus' V2 plan.

1. Sounds like a more expensive/complicated version of hot air balloons/zeppelins. Maybe we can combine Suspendium with other methods of flight to reduce the amount we need?

6. Definitely need the Suspendium Theories for the pressurized stuff.
1. Considering that you got 150kg of cargo-lift from inexpertly handled dust, which you do not completely understand fully, gathered from a rock the size of a fist, I doubt Helium or hot air would be cheaper. It only needs electricity after all.
2. I know!
3. It already is lowkey laser-guided.
4. Fixed.
5. Yeah, she was adamant about adding more precautions when she woke up.
6. Considering I forgot to add the 1 and 2 to the last two... propably . :V
Can we post a bounty for suspendium at the adventurer's guild? It would be a way to get a trickle of suspendium shards for material.
Yup, add Adventure Guild - (Bounty) - (Suspendium X Amount) - (X Materials as Reward) and you can get a bounty going on!

6. Considering I forgot to add the 1 and 2 to the last two... propably . :V
1 and 2?

That's going to be difficult. I guess we can't use PD or In The Name Of Profit on that project?

yeah,we need to develop some industry and infrastructure before we touch suspendium
lets focus on the village and developing a infrastructure foundation

im pretty sure pressurizing storage is along the hidraulic, electric and steam machinery tech tree

Suspendium bags seems to be our current cap in that tech tree. We should still do it, if only so we can produce serviceable airships and keep interest high.

To go beyonf I fear we need both Suspendium Theory and the airship manufacturer, both of which will take time.

Man, we are really heading into action economy hell. @HeroCooky will expanding the admin center increase the number of holding actions as well? Either way we should consider expanding it, though didn't we something for that?
