I'll invite you to the omake planning session.
Its sorta funny actually. And really convoluted. You know, @crystalwatcher, Alectai has a point here. How exactly did we trigger this whole situation?
No, the funny part is that it started as a rather convoluted Unified Darkness plot. With the releasing Xenomorphs and distractions and whatnot, then Team GEAR flies in and ruins everyone's plan without even knowing!...so much for my elaborate "It was all a Unified Darkness conspiracy!"
But then there is just something so fitting to Nepgear stumbling into the Unified Darkness startling everyone involved.
Considering just how /sensitive/ seismograph's can be in this day in age, let alone with magical nonsense...
How the hell did they build an underground nest of this magnitude without ANYONE knowing? Especially in a PARK where any sort of 'construction' excuse can't be made?
Spatial isolation magic? Its a genre staple.Considering just how /sensitive/ seismograph's can be in this day in age, let alone with magical nonsense...

I've yet to see any sort of 'quiet digging' magic... and even if they made it 'soundless' somehow the vibrations would still trigger the sensors...
And of course even if they stilled all that, odds are some sort of construction would've stumbled onto them as they replace lines and stuff considering how they could 'collapse' the ground on such short notice, they must've been not too far from the surface...
And of course if they broke a water line at any point....
You see where I'm going with this?
Edit: I understand this is like cool stuff and all, but still... considering Humanities /over thinking/ stuff... like, this shouldn't be possible ya know? On ELF WORLD or somewhere I'd totally buy it though.
I laughed, because @crystalwatcher already made the potato/Facehugger joke.I'd be fine with all this shit blowing up in everyone's faces, only... Ana's mental state.
If everyone else is playing hot potato, Ana always gets the potato squishing on her face before exploding... or in this, shoved down her throat.
Can you tell I'm laughing yet, cause I made a fucking funny out of this shit pile.
That's probably where my mind dredged it up from.I laughed, because @crystalwatcher already made the potato/Facehugger joke.
I have one word for you: Xenomorphs.
It actually seems surprisingly reasonable; use the Super Acid blood of Xenomorphs to melt the rock and then either magically move the acid slurry or just let it react enough that it can be bucketed out.
Spatial isolation magic? Its a genre staple.
Also at this rate we could glue Nepgear to a stick and use her for a plot detector
Also can someone tell me what would be the Team's stats with both Core Connection and Echo of Peace?
Team GEAR
James Robert
With a Base Resilience of 500 and his ability 'Merely' Human James can only take damage, above the 25pts of strain damage caused by 'Merely' Human, between the ranges of 1,429 and 1,711. Which I suppose technically widens the threshold at which damage occurs, from 501 to 599 however I think James wouldn't really mind that since it means he can no-sell more damage then most Magical Girls.
Michael Rodriguez
With a Base Resilience of 500 and his 'Atheist' ability Michael isn't quite as tanky as James however he is still quite resilient, especially with regards to magic based damage. All damage less then 1,428 is negated and he has an effective Health of 7,141, which goes up to 14,282 for magic based damage. Plus depending upon if Atheist is applied before or after Base Resilience he might be able to no-sell up to 2,856 magic based damage.
Samael Balier
Samael is quite interesting here. We don't know what exactly Empower and Shell do so it's hard to factor them in. However I'm going to assume that Empower is offensive only, it fit's the name, while Shell works on defense as well as offensive, it has Defender as an ability after all.
So that means by default Samael can negate 500 + 1d25 Magic Modifier + 1d1000 Shell damage which gives a range of between 502 and 1,525 with an average of 1,013. Applying Echo of Peace to that ups the range to between 1,434 and 4,357 with an average of 2,894. That said his effective Health is much easier since it's just 7,141 regardless of circumstances.
Angel Gabriel
With a Base Resilience of 1,000, a Magic Modifier of 400, and her Armor Of Light ability Gabriel is really tanky. Not quite much as James but she's still pretty tough.
With Echo of Peace she can no-sell between 2,860 and 4,000 damage with an average of 3,428. Her Effective Health is a quite astonishing 35,712 which puts her pretty high up there.
Core Connection is already part of Team GEAR's stat blocks (it's the stuff in parentheses). Echo of Peace kinda gives them all 3x Health. It's actually more powerful because it applies before Resilience. e.g. A 4,000 damage attack upon Gabriel does ~3,000 after resilience and magic get factored in. With EoP that 4,000 damage attack is first cut to 1,400 then reduced to ~400 final damage. In that case it's effectively an 85% reduction in damage. Also can someone tell me what would be the Team's stats with both Core Connection and Echo of Peace?
Please tell me Goddess Gold took off at maximum velocity to fuck all their shit up as soon as someone noticed the massive sinkhole/Nightmare nest in the middle of their backyard/AO?Its sorta funny actually. And really convoluted.
The Unified Darkness was intending to let the xenomorph-Nightmares loose on Boston as a way to draw attention to a specific location for another assault. Then the agents they had in the area stumbled onto the research center with the Virus: They had no clue how lethal it was at the time outside of 'very'. So they let the monsters out as prep to taking the virus for themselves and find out what it was, but then the Maidens and White showed up and wrecked those plans. Then you and Team GEAR showed up and they more or less went "Well... fuck."
So when the chase ended right outside the building and in the park right over one of the chambers of the nest they were building they decided to try and take advantage of the situation presented to them and caved in the chamber. Most the girls were knocked out, but those that weren't were stunned and confused enough they were able to get a drop on them. So far they've been repurposing pre-built arrays that were in place in preparation for the attack on Boston to use on the sudden haul they got out of nowhere.
This whole thing is as much a surprise to the local Unified Darkness forces as much as it is you. They were just in a better position to take advantage of it since absolutely no one were actually aware they were even in the area. The Fact Goddess Gold is sitting on the surface foaming at the mouth has the guys responsible practically shitting themselves and hoping they can get enough Xenomorphs out to keep her occupied long enough to get the hell out of dodge with their new Greater Nightmares.
So yeah, they're scrambling and trying not to shit themselves. Team GEAR coming down and fucking their shit up against orders is just making things worse.
Ah my mistake. I have no desire to get Echo of Peace next, I'm on the INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE bandwagon, I was just curious how tough our team would be if we purchased Peace.Core Connection is already part of Team GEAR's stat blocks (it's the stuff in parentheses).
However, since Nepgear just got an ability to empower her allies I would like for her to empower herself next. As good as Echo of Peace can be it doesn't give any direct benefit to Solid Core.

My BS/handwavium: They worked some doppelgangers into several key positions that would allow them to pass off multiple smaller castings that isolate the separate chambers and the creations of the tunnels to connect the separate chambers. But what about the workers / anyone using one of those ground reading sonar things, ectera? This sounds like a fairly big underground system so... I mean, I'd give it increasingly larger odds the longer and larger it got of being discovered.
I can buy Spatial Isolation Magic, but that raises the question of how they somehow missed that /large/ of a casting near a Very Important Top Secret Black Site Research Facility. (and by Near I mean within a KM of it or so).
TLDR a 'large' networking with multiple 'large nests' stretched out near / under a major city like Boston has me going either
A. Humanity really is /that/ incompetent, I guess Nepgear and Goddesses are gonna have to carry really fucking hard.
B. Crystalwatcher needs to BS something to explain this.
Of course uh, if there isn't something like 'detect magic' then yeah Spatial Magic BS covers it.
@crystalwatcher
How much trouble is the Commander going to be in when this all comes out? He blatantly ignored a giant hole suddenly opening up that swallowed up no less then 5 of the 10 most powerful Magical Girls in existence, and didn't immediately spit them back up.
And it turns out to be a giant hive for Children of Nightmares. Who are using the captured Magical Girls to create Greater Nightmares.
She's currently debating on whether or not following orders is worth it. She's currently leaning towards screaming 'Fuck it!" and going all unstoppable force of murder towards where Nepgear is, screw anything in her way. Please tell me Goddess Gold took off at maximum velocity to fuck all their shit up as soon as someone noticed the massive sinkhole/Nightmare nest in the middle of their backyard/AO?
Because nothing else would make much sense.
No, Salty meant "Why is she not jumping in right now, because the last time she listened to orders Anastasia got kidnapped by unknown enemies?". Probably. I think that's what they meant. She's currently debating on whether or not following orders is worth it. She's currently leaning towards screaming 'Fuck it!" and going all unstoppable force of murder towards where Nepgear is, screw anything in her way.
Because she's really loyal and has bad memories on disobeying orders worse then the current situation. No, Salty meant "Why is she not jumping in right now, because the last time she listened to orders Anastasia got kidnapped by unknown enemies?". Probably. I think that's what they meant.
"I'm the caster, y'know! It's like I'm a cannon made out of glass. Like a... y'know, like a dainty figurine so ornately decorated you can't imagine how something so fragile manages to exist in this brutal, ugly world... And it makes you weep."So long as we get Covering Fire alongside Indestructible Core, we should be able to hold our own long enough to get Echo of Peace.
