Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

It's crazy is what it is. From what I can tell, based off information on Sacrificial Gear, Shell and Empower both work by rolling their Magic Modifiers and giving the result as a modifier to attack actions. We don't know yet if it applies to other combat actions like defending but I imagine it would.

So depending upon Samael's luck this could be another large boost to our team. On average Team GEAR will be rocking ~+500 Divine Inspiration while Samael will have that plus another ~+500 Faith In Victory.

Although I should note that we only know it applies to "mundane" humans. Neither Nepgear nor White Knight benefit from these bonuses but that might just be because Nepgear hightailed it out of the Mausoleum to fight Candy Heart, so out of range, and Samael was a bit busying fighting the zombie hoard to apply it to White Knight.
Shell + damage reduction field mmm

SCORPION GEAR
"Just for that Truth is the only one coming with me."

Truth blinks at you, while both Ada and Elizabeth start to deny the choice. The latter more than the former. While Truth watches that in amusement, you turn to Team GEAR. The humans are all obviously trying to hide smiles, but your new angel companion is openly grinning at the exchange. Either her fear has faded some, or she's trying not to curl up in the corner like a gibbering wreck. You hope it was the former.

"Come on. There's something I want to try before we all load up on the helicopters and head out. If it works, I can worry less." And with that, you're shuffling Team GEAR out of the tent and away from the now arguing Ada and Elizabeth. You don't catch what their argument is about before you're out of the tent and earshot, but with the fact Truth's glee and amusement had been slowly growing, you didn't worry too much about it.

After that, it's a short trip to the tent for Team GEAR's... gear (suddenly the team name didn't sound so smart), that has you poking at James' back.

"So what are you trying to do kid?" The older man is bearing with your poking rather well as the five of you make your collective way over to the base's airfield. "As amusing as this is, it's starting to get ticklish. And itch."

You lean slightly sidewise so he can see your pout over his shoulder. "I had a bit of a revelation yesterday... and I want to see if I'm right about it. If I am right, then you guys will be a lot harder to hurt." James raises an eyebrow, while Samael and Michael both adjust their pace so they're walking next to you. Gabriel skips around them both so she can stand behind you and lean over your shoulder. You smile self consciously under their collective scrutiny. "Well... you know how some Magical Girls found ways to buff other people like their teammates and stuff?"

Michael nods, "Yeah. It varies between Magical Girls, but not many actually can. Why, you think you found a way to buff us or something?"

You smile at him, "Yup! If I'm right, then my 'theme' if you could call it that, is that I'm the power source for something. Without knowing what that something is though, then the knowledge itself is pretty useless. But... I figured that even if I couldn't find the main purpose behind being a power core, then maybe I could hook up lesser... 'machines' if you would, and provide extra power to them."

"So, your idea is to try and... what? 'Hook' us up to whatever power you represent like we're some kind of human microwave or something?" Gabriel frowns in confusion. "How would that work? I don't know a whole lot about Human technology, but... don't you need some kind of cord or something? And I really don't want to have weird objects attached to me this early in my career."

"They're called outlets and power cords." Samael supplies helpfully to the confused angel. "You match the end with the prongs to the end with the holes, matching sizes and insert them. Then the power flows. So instead of attaching something to us, she probably has to plug something into each of us, then ultimate power!"

For a moment everyone stares at Samael. Even you. As the sudden silence stretches and the soldier thinks about what he said...

"Alright, that is not what I meant and you all know it! What is wrong with you guys today?!"

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

Your poking of James' back continues all the way to the airfield. While doing so you focus almost entirely on trying to figure out how to 'connect' him to your 'core'. Lord that sounded wrong. Team GEAR's conversation didn't help at all either.

"That goes so deep into creeper territory that it loops through three times! Screw double."

"So how would we plug in if not that?"

Yeah... not paying attention to it wasn't helping you any at all. Need to change the subject. "Why don't I just try kissing everyone?" You slap a hand over your mouth as soon as the words were out of your mouth. "Umm..." Yeah, that just made it all worse. And now everyone was staring at you, including Truth who had just walked up to your group.

She's blushing slightly. "Do I even want to know?" You frantically shake your head, but everyone else smiles evilly.

"She's trying to find a way to plug us in to her Core. Thinks it'll lead to infinite powah." You slump to the ground as Michael reveals the heart of the conversation without giving the details to prevent the inevitable misunderstanding. And thanks to Truth being... well... Truth, she would know it wasn't a lie. But it didn't keep her from identifying a lack of given information. "So what do you think?"

Truth stares, and you can almost physically see her mind go right down the gutter. "I vote your new angel goes first." Gabriel squeaks, and you bury your face into our hands. This couldn't possibly get any worse.

"Ara..." You peek between your fingers and see said angel standing off to the side of the group slightly, blushing. "I... wouldn't mind?" Conversation dies with a whimper. From you.

-/WORLD CONNECTION CRASH\-

You sit, curled up, in one of the seats of the helicopter as the machine carries you, Truth, and Team GEAR to Boston. Truth is sitting in the seat directly across from you, staring insensate at the top of the passenger area. GEAR is also rather subdued, carefully staring at anywhere besides you.

"If I have to do that whenever a new teammate joins up, I'm probably just going to refuse new additions." Your voice is soft, and almost drowned out by the rotors. Everyone but Truth's shuffling tells you who heard it.

"At least it's worth it." Michael's reassurance falls flat, and you glare at him over your knees.

-/LINE BREAK IDENTIFIED\-

Any embarrassment dies the instant you reach the research facility.

The building is squat, roughly three stories tall it sits squished between two other buildings, and right across the street from a small park. Both of the surrounding buildings were on fire, and the one to the right was missing it's top four floors.

You know it was four because the missing piece of building is sitting atop a minivan. You hoped no one had been in it when it got crushed.

Blocking both ends of the street, and spread out across the small park were numerous emergency response vehicles. Three fire trucks were closer than the rest, next to the burning buildings, but no firefighters were in sight.

What you could see though, were several heavily armed riot police firing live ammunition past several armored vehicles towards the building. What exactly they were firing at though, you had no idea, but judging from the inhuman screams it was nothing pretty.

"Holy shit. What were they researching here?" Gabriel's question draws you from your observations as a particularly loud roar goes up, and several of the officers start screaming. "Doesn't sound like it was very nice."

"Shouldn't we help them?" A flash of light, and you're transformed. "We need to find out what's going on, right?"

"Right!" Team GEAR draws their own weapons, Truth transforming, and rush towards the barricade. But right before you follow yourself, a flicker of white draws your attention off to the side. You turn and see the most beautiful woman you could ever remember laying eyes on. Her hair is a long brown, her eyes a soft blue.

Her white dress dangles down to her ankles and bare feet, her mostly bare shoulders shaking from silent laughter as you stare at her for a moment. Then that moment is past, and you flinch, "Umm... Ma'am? Please clear out, it could get very dangerous here!"

She smiles at you, amused. "Don't worry too much about me. I'm in no danger." She adjusts her hands, and you notice she's holding something: a scorpion. One the size of her hand. "Besides, there is something I must do while I'm here."

She bends down, and releases the arachnid. Once on the ground, the creature quickly scurries off in the direction of the battle instead of away from it like you thought small animals would have. Suddenly, you feel the woman's breath on your cheek and she whispers into your ear. "Don't worry little one. You're not alone here." You blink and turn-

She is gone.

"What?"

Hyper Evolved Scorpion enters the Battle)

The words hit with an almost physical impact and sound stops. You feel the magic in the air pulse, and center on the scorpion that is now on the edge of the street... then reality seems to scream to your senses.

The animal rapidly expands. Going from the size of your hand, to the size of a police car in less than a second. You watch as it writhes, its carapace cracking and buckling, spikes of iron forcing their way through, replacing it all. It's stinger melts and reforms, gaining a bladed edge that it stabs into the concrete sidewalk and rips out again. Pincers expand and curve, edges becoming serrated as the material that makes them up changes over moments.

Steel grey, highlighted in red, the new monster roars with newly formed vocal cords, fangs dripping acid that visibly melts the ground.

"Oh crap." Team GEAR stumbles to a stop as the scorpion changes, Truth nearly falling over and landing on her face. "What would Gaia be doing-" She never gets to finish her sentence as the great beast turns and rushes the barricade. It knocks the vehicles in it's way aside like toys, a fire truck flipping through the air as it slams into the front of the research center and forces its way through stone and steel like wood and paper. "Apparently she's on our side this time? This is really confusing... Do we fight the Scorpion, or do we just let it do it's thing?"

Huh. So Mother Earth is on our side? Maybe? Yay?

Unless it starts hurting people it shouldn't, it's NOT our problem.

...Rei is never going to let Nepgear out on her own again. In just thirteen days and three missions Nepgear has ran into Goddess Grey, Goddess Red and Gaia. Considering that we're almost certainly going to encounter Goddess White and quite possibility one or more of the Maidens of the Apocalypse....

Either Rei will be permanently joining Team GEAR or she'll be attached to Nepgear like a limpet.

We are not fighting it. It is NOT our problem. Let it do it's job and stay the hell away from it.

Did it connect? Can't quite tell, oh for the lack of clear details.

Hm. Well according to this post goddess White will either be showing up, or has already showed up, and is using her Mind affinity to do nasty things to the locals. Anyways messing with the Scorpion is a bad idea unless we absolutely must do so.

Yep. But Nepgear connected via kissing. Hence why she doesn't want any new teammates ever.

We don't really know anymore about what's going on then when we left. So unless we're planning on fighting the Scorpion we're better off saving our XP.
