Attempting to Fulfill the Plan MNKh Edition

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
We are getting RADAR trials from the radio plants natural 100, per Discord - And high voltage DC power lines from the power grid nat 100.
Excite!

So quick news, Discord is freaking out because Statistical Planning winning means that it's finally revealed that we are 2-3 steps behind on all stages of the Plan.

Also that there is still a good chance that Germany might stall out after the France Blitz or that it's even very possible that the Blitz might get yeeted off like the improbability that it was.

Also also that the winning Plan for this 3rd's FYP hinged the meta-knowledge on a war actually happening so that we can point at the Nazis as the excuse for not meeting the targets.

And we might not get to GPW in anyway remotely close to the levels of OTL.

So um, best wish the Nazis good luck, lest Ice Cream Man gets shot.

So it turns out we've been falling behind on the targets for both First and Second Five Year Plans, meaning we've placed targets for the Third Five Year Plan too high for us to actually reach. We'll have to focus on MFPG and Capital Goods and hope we can survive failing the other goals.

It's Mikoyan, he'll be fine.

Whelp, if someone wants omake ideas, who am I to disappoint? Bear in mind these are prompts meant to get writers more qualified than me going. Please don't ask me to write them 🥺.

The Soviet Union as viewed by the other world powers.

The formation of the Night Witches.

A flashback to the early days of the revolution and the relationship between Stain and those close to him as well as how he views them in the modern day.

The continued endurance of of the persecuted Christians as they continue to practice their faith in secret.

Negaverse quests from various world powers or possibly some of the other candidates for our position.

Most of this is just me spitballing, I expect maybe one of these to be taken with any degree of seriousness.

OTOH, having that extra 20 PI of buffer is basically the only reason we were able to afford Statistical Planning right now instead of a few turns further down the line. As fucked as we turned out to be, it would have only gotten worse if we'd let it fester longer, all we've done is discover problems that existed all along not create them. I get the vibe that we caught it just in time to still have a shot at semi-fixing things enough to not die if we play our cards right, if we'd waited any longer we'd be truly dead.

Blackstar confirmed on Discord that if we'd done Statistical Planning in the 4th Five Year Plan, the discrepancy would've been so high that it'd have instantly gotten us executed.

Just pray the French get obliterated like OTL and the Nazis invade us. If the Nazis don't invade and give us a convenient excuse for where all the production went..... we're gonna have to drop everything and rush MFPG/capital goods like madmen to try and barely squeak over the line into "fine we'll let you live" territory.

Not gonna lie, I'll be pretty disappointed (loss of life aside) if we don't get the Great Patriotic War. Want to see our cool new KVs and T-34s and functioning VVS and radio-filled Red Army face off against Nazi Germany for the fate of Europe.

Won't be as dramatic if it's not a Great Patriotic War. Running over a Germany that got stonewalled in France or beating up the Kwantung Army in Manchuria just doesn't have the same awe-inspiring factor.

So, we're going all in on german trade then?
So long as all the accounts are squared before sudden but inevitable betrayal, it should be acceptable, even if not ideal.

By the way, does statistical analysis give any kind of mechanical bonuses? Or it's just us learning how much we're screwed?

Well, in universe we've got the Litvinov-Ribbentrop Pact, as Maxim Litvinov managed to stay Foreign Minister.

It should be noted that Maxim Litvinov is two very important things:
(A) Historically an advocate of collective security with eastern europe and the west to counter the Nazis,
(B) Jewish and thus has some well founded reasons to not like the Nazis.

The terms of the LR Pact involve the Nazis paying up front at significant markup.

From the discord, apparently the terms of the pact are less "Soviets roll over to try and appease the Germans" as was historical and more "Soviets charge the captive market the Germans represent extortionate prices to be paid months up front".

I knew it was suspicious that we seemingly achieved all the targets on the "impossible" 2nd FYP.

Looks like you're gonna need those raindrop-dodging skills more now than ever before, Mikoyan!

I'll be kinda honest I'm going to be real disappointed if all the effort of making cutting edge aviation engines and avgas bogs down because a bad roll on dice. But eh, the proletariat giveth and the proletariat taketh away.

Nah. Again, learning donts than dos. There's a floor where bad quality rolls translates to 'teething problems', and we've well reached that. So despite our constant stream of subpar quality rolls, we're making more than good progress. It got lost in the excitement (read: utter panic) of the Statistical Planning discussion but next turn, we have reached the point where we can get the trials for 'beefiest CAS', the Su-6 next turn — it'd wouldn't be designed OTL until 1941 — and its cheaper alternative, the IL-2 Sturmovik.

Oh, and we might jumpstart the IS Tank Line sooner than later as a crash trial program. We just have to wait until the Germans field Tigers against us. The result of that - taking to consideration average-ish quality rolls - is armour thick enough to survive an 88 shot from all ranges, at least 107mm main gun (and likely to get up to 122mm), turbocharged diesel engine + high octane fuel, and five man crew and still liable to be lighter than Tigers.

Or to put it in a more succinct way, "Why yes we would like mass producible King Tigers without most of its OTL drawbacks."

So how are we infrastructure, militarily and industrially compared to OTL USSR in 1939-1940? We have millions more people compared to OTL, more developed military in some places and avoid major food problems. Let the imperialists fight each other and we can reap the benefits both from technology transfers and funds. Also, what is the final situation in Spain?

Our infrastructure should be more developed, and our trains run on diesel. Heavy Industry wise we are probably more even with OTL Soviet Union, but we are still growing fast there and the rest of the economy is a lot more developed, which means it is going to take quite a bit more punishment before everything collapses. Our Military is probably going to be a bit smaller then OTL by the time war comes to us, with significantly fewer tanks, however a much larger portion of them are very modern and competent equipment pieces like our souped up KVs and T-34s. Equipment wise everything is pretty much equal or better then what the Germans have, we are going to have enough radios to control our forces properly and our officers are better trained, if not at the same level as Germany. The Airforce might actually be fighting in 1941 instead of just keeling over dead within the first week, and our ability to mobilize more troops and equip them after the shooting starts should be better aswell.
