Somebody please stop us from trying to shake down an incredibly prideful and spiteful lawful evil god.

I am sure you all have an utterly twisted idea of what a "minor" god can do thanks to Yss, but this crosses the line. Like. By a lot.

And I know going "I'm not afraid of God's! Come get me asshole!" Is the point. Bit we do not have copper roofs. Yet.

New defense layer against captured enemies. Now you don't even know who you are!

Cornugon: "Who am I?"

Viserys: "My subject"

Cornugon: "I wouldn't obey a mortal so puny like you!"

Viserys: *Draconic backhand to his face*

Cornugon: "Nevermind, master"
You don't really need to mindwipe him for that to work. Might just need a few more backhands.

This feels like an amazingly terrible idea. Unless we really just decided to help the temple out of the mercantilism of our hearts?

She'll just say. I helped you defeat our mutual enemies.

Edit: beyond the asking for a lightning enema attitude.

It is just plain rude.
We could have let her priests die defending The temple while playing the last line of defence to prevent summonings.

Instead we kept the foes completly away from the temple and even let people assume it was her Angel that stopped the demons, rather than any mage.

This was very much arranged to her advantage.

I agree with you, but I'm obliged to point out that Meraxes is actually LN, not LE.

Anywho, shaking down gods is almost always a poor idea, and doing it to this one is no exception.

Shaking down? We never do that. Approaching with implicit notification that we have "done you a solid" and that not reciprocating will result in "no longer getting any solids, and definitely no liquids".

You feel me?

That was less with the intention of "Give me something now" and more with the intention of "I've already done you a favor, now we can start our relationship on a good note". I think you're seriously underestimating Viserys' sense of tact. He knows enough not to blithely piss off a deity who's not already an enemy. Either way, to ease the paranoia the vote is changed.

The tact part kind of did not come through in the vote.

And Viserys has tried way stupider things than shaking down a good and succeeded.

So that was a flaw in how I read it

I was honestly expecting stuff going much worse here.

Eh, whatever.
I'll get my fill of bad, paranoia-inducing news with follow up to Sothoryos.

Right, the annoying fact that writing down spells takes infinitly more time and money than writing down page upon page of literally anything else.
I wonder how you fill the nine pages a Powerword: Kill takes up?
The Powerword is the condensed form, when you write it down, you have to describe all the ways to kill things with magic.

Or that would be my theory.

Also, @everyone?
That seems quite likely to Viserys IC.
This.
This is why I was so driven about getting additions to library, silly as it was at times.

Mysterium, magical institution in Volantis, the most crazed place when it comes to Valyrian heritage... has less books and lore than us.
let that sink in for a moment.

Libraries, as I see them, are a strategical resource in mid-to-high-fantasy settings.
They allow much wider access to all the mages interested in getting... pretty much anything, as to get to their goals they'll need knowledge first and foremost.

Just look at Wyla, whose price was getting access to our library.
Or Zherys' Necromancer, whom we can buy with all the lore we have.
And so on.

Right now, we seem to be pretty much the most competent (working) library on Essos and Westeros.
Way I see it, we only have Mysterium', Maesters' and Warlocks' depositories as valid targets on Planetos (adventuring, such as Valyria or snek-people, or Underdark, aside) for book-raiding.

Good thing we know about PoA bookshop, and Opaline Vault's Spire :p

Asshai.

Yi Ti has multiple locations, and the EAST EAST EAST has books that would literally rot your brain out if you tried to read them.

Which makes them ultra rare collector's edition if nothing else.

Don't lie to me. You want to steal the Sorcerer Lord of Carcosa's private library just as much as I do.

And I'm sure there's at least one rare tome that literally opens a portal into That Which Lies Beyond Eternity, Nexusofeverfatedrisingmadnessdoomofallhopeturnedblackdeathtoallthebelligerentsandtheirgodsallhaildoomnightmares in K'Dath.

...I know next to nothing about the setting except what appeared in quest, so i'll just trust you on that.

And fan the flames of greed higher.

Through the Shines and Caw we'll carry on!

@Duesal Can you add to your plan questioning Meraxes about the vision of the past we had which hinted that the Fourteen Flames were preparing a contingency to survive the Doom, and that we are somehow involved?
