...@Duesal, @Goldfish, any buffs that have sense being placed on Irony?
If all goes as planned, he will be in danger - Viserys flying with him in claws and stoning spiders en-mass.

...Any spells to make his breath harder to resist?

Vee has a variety of buffs she can place on Irony, including Barkskin, Shielf of Faith, Tyche's Touch, Fly, and Conviction.

We could buff his Constitution score to increase the DC of his breath weapon, but the only one who can do that on the expedition is Malarys, if he prepares Bear's Endurance.

I was thinking he partakes in the Heroes' Feast for one. Poison Immunity is very, very nice.

Irony cannot possibly participate in the feast. He would be more likely to disturb it, even with Vee's guidance, which would ruin the effect for everyone. If he's poisoned, Vee can handle it.

it's not that his breath is much needed during the expedition, as that we'll need it now, all 6 uses of it, while capturing (hopefully) hundreds of fiendish spiders.

6 uses? Where did you get them from?
60-foot cone, once every 1d4 rounds (but no more than five times per day), turn to stone permanently, Fortitude DC 19 negates. The save DC is Constitution-based.)
Actually, 5 uses :/

I kind of hope we can use bloodwish to either restore his uses of breathweapon, or give him further +4 bonus to constitution (after Bear's endurance) with our reality-warping ways.

Also Dany can probably cast a permanencied Bear's Endurance on Irony

We're leaving on the 18th, which is an Even day for the Persistomancy. That means Dany doesn't have enough daily Turnings available to make Bear's Endurance Persistent.

Don't worry, Malarys is preparing the spell and will cast it on Irony when the time is right.

We are using the Pathfinder Gorgon. Base DC is of 21, warbeast template adds another point, and it doesn't have a limit to breathing

Ask Yss what's the most likely type of encounter.
...or just look out of the mirror and see if spiders are still there.
We haven't done that since that time, remember guys?

There can be no spiders left there at all anymore.
What with Lolth being a bitch.

@Goldfish, I'm thinking Irony can borrow someone's Boneward Belt for the duration of this battle. Increasing the DC for the breathweapon nets us a lot more spiders.

I should have pushed to get him a CON item crafted, but I ended up forgetting. Next best thing is borrowing.

Added some stage directions to the vote. Let it be clear here that we are offering Salladhor pretty much his wildest dreams. When all is said and done, he will be the lord of tits and wine.
Why be so extraordinarily generous with him?

I thought we'd want to own exotic exports business in Sothoryos.

Or, what, you plan on making him use Astral Exchange always?

Bear's Endurance cast by Malarys will give a +4 bonus to Constitution, better than any Boneward Belt except for Viserys', and we are not putting Viserys' belt on Irony.

I was more leaning towards borrowing a CON item from someone who isn't going to be capturing spiders, and definitely not from Viserys. Malarys casting Bear's Endurance is by far the best option.

Here's my proposed Sothoryos preparations in plan form. What have I left off, and what needs to be changed?

[] Sothoryos Expedition Preparations
-[] Ask Yss what, if any, unexpected dangers the expedition is likely to encounter.
-[] Malarys will prepare a specialized spell loadout with Sothoryos in mind. It can be found here.
-[] Bronn will be retrieved from his mission with the Dothraki and asked to accompany those going on the Sothoryos Expedition.
-[] Before departing Sorcerer's Deep, Vee will cast an Heroes' Feat spell (using two 5th level spell slots), which Viserys, all of the Companions, Bronn, and Teana will attend.
-[] The group will carry more than enough Alchemical Vermin Repellent to protect everyone for the full duration of the expedition and sufficient Elysium Fruit to cure fatigue throughout the expedition, with more in reserve should it prove necessary. They will each carry a dozen vials of Alchemist's Fire, should it prove necessary to engage in wide-scale deforestation or extermination of local wildlife.
-[] Richard will lend the expedition group his Corpse-Ferrying Bag, they will be issued a pair of Sending Stones to supplement the bags of attuned obsidian sand they will each carry, and Lya will lend them the following spell scrolls: Comprehend Languages(x4), Cure Light Wounds(x10), Keen Edge(x1), Lesser Restoration(x2), Panacea(x4), Plane Shift(x1), Restoration(x1), and Teleport(x1). They will also carry the magic bedroll with them for emergency spell recovery.
-[] Immediately prior to departure (NOTE: Irony is included in all buffs not placed on specific people);
--[] Lya will place Irony in a Smoky Confinement bottle for easy transport after he is buffed. She casts and maintains Harmonic Chorus on herself, then uses Mass Aid, Moment of Greatness, and Life Bubble on each member of the expedition, Barkskin on Bronn, Viserys, and Richard, Shield of Faith on Bronn, Richard, and Maelor, Greater Shadow Enchantment to place a Grand Destiny spell on Viserys, and Owl's Insight on Dany, Malarys, and Vee.
--[] Tyene will place a Nondetection and Blindsight spell on each member of the expedition, while Waymar places Resist Energy(Acid) and Resist Energy(Fire) on them. For Viserys, he uses Resist Energy(Cold) rather than Resist Energy(Fire).
--[] Vee casts Barkskin on herself, Irony, Dany, and Malarys, Shield of Faith on herself and Irony, and Tyche's Touch on Irony, then casts Invisibility Purge.
--[] Maelor casts Shield and Child of the Dark on himself.
--[] Dany casts Entropic Shield, Shield of Faith, Sign, and True Seeing on herself, then Greater Magic Fang on Viserys.
--[] Malarys casts Defending Bone, Magic Circle Against Chaos, Entropic Shield, Shield of Faith, Sign, Stone Body, and True Seeing on himself.
--[] Viserys casts Heart of Water (using his PoSK), Mirror Images, Scintillating Scales, Shield, and Ancestral Awakening to learn the Merciful Spell Metamagic feat. He will then cast Arcane Spellsurge before Teleporting everyone to Sothoryos.
-[] Immediately upon arrival in Sothoryos, Irony will be released from his bottle and released into Vee's care. Malarys will then place a Bear's Endurance spell Irony.

@Goldfish

Take advantage of the fact that Dany's not going. To start, she should cast Bear's Endurance on Irony instead of Malarys doing so.

EDIT: Same for Lya. You could go crazy with the buffs here.

@DragonParadox, would you allow for Viserys' bloodwish to increase Irony's constitution while stacking with Bear's Endurance buff?

@Goldfish, I object to this part:

The beginning battle should have Irony out in force right away, not stuffed into a bottle. The main point is to make use of that petrification breathweapon every second that we can. Sure, the party members can kill just fine. Irony is the capture tool here. We can just go pick up everyone else after the spiders are rounded up.

It takes seconds to remove Irony from the bottle. He's bottled for Teleportation purposes.

He'll be out and ready for action in plenty of time, dude.

Every second counts, and in this particular battle Irony is worth more than every one of the Companions. We can just pick up whoever's left out after the battle is over. We have free Greater Teleports to that spot thanks to Yss.

Sure but it would be very limited, say 1 round/level .

  • [X] [Saan] Be careful with what you reveal, since the lady in Salladhors arms is most likely a spy or has connections to Tyroshi magisters.
-[X] "The Basilisk Isles are a strategic location for me. Close to Sothoryos and far away from any other power which could reasonably stop us from taking them. This us not a foolish attempt to take whatever is in reach, but a investment. Trade will flow between Sothoryos and Essos in time, making the man controlling such strategic ports rich as sin and courted by all from Braavos to Volantis. And his raiding fleets feared from Slavers Bay to Yi-Ti." Take a look at the map and you will notice the value of the location once it's cleaned of the local riff-raff.
-[X] "I for one are quite happy with my small cut that the taxmen will bring and the knowledge that there are strong ports and fast ships to enforce my will upon these seas. And of course, I will have a vested interest in seeing such ports build, ships and crews brought to the islands and ample work supplied for the taxmen. Coin and men will flow as soon as the first island is taken." He gets both the manpower and the funds to make something out of the place. We want this place wealthy and strong, so he will soon enough sit on a huge pile of money by virtue of being the local lord.
-[X] "This is not an exile to a disease ridden backwater, but an opportunity for you. Bring me these islands Salladhor and I will turn them into something that lords and ladies the world over will envy you for." Look at what became of SD and the Stepstones over the last year. The Basilisk Isles will see a similar fate and he will rule them for us. Does he really need more payment then a future of sipping booze from a coconut while laying on a beach with a bakers dozen of scantily clad women?

You're being kind of silly on this, dude. There won't be a massed army of spiders for us to engage in battle immediately upon arrival.

Irony is a Large-sized metal bull monster. It makes no sense whatsoever to try to Teleport him along with everyone else when we can simply stuff him in a bottle and then let him out upon arrival.

There will be. That's kind of why I'm trying to have Irony ready right away.
Again you try o order the mirror with words even with thoughts to no effect. As you are trying the latest Valyrian phrase Lya slaps her forehead. "We could just move thing."

"I moved it when I piked it up, nothing," you respond puzzled.

"Right, but look at the spider legs, they are articulated," she clarifies. "Try using those to move the view."

That is indeed the key though what you see comes as a great surprise. Looking up all you can see is green foliage of wholly unfamiliar plants. However what really catches your attention are the spiders. Hundreds, thousands of spiders swarming everywhere ranging in size from the dog-sized ones you fought before to creatures the size of a knight's charger. A moment later you see something that looks like a furry pillar. No, it can't be... It is, a spider the size of a Dragon.
The spiders are at ground zero for our teleport spot.
